We had an absolutely amazing vacation and really enjoyed our visit to your Lakeview Retreat. The home was very comfortable and quite well equipped (even more than we were expecting after reading other reviews!) The Kitchen amenities were very much appreciated as we love to cook and tend to bring all our spices down with us but found you had everything we would have needed. Also, the living room was very comfortable as well! We will definitely stay again in the future. Thank you for all your hospitality.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This house is very well maintained, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, even a lot of extra condiments and spices. The location was perfect for a short walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk into town. The beds were very comfortable as was the living room furniture. The owners were very accommodating and even had the house available 3 hours earlier than the 4:00 check in time. We appreciated the pet bowls and the towels and plastic bags for our dog. My only issue is with having to launder the sheets and towels before checking out. I have stayed in numerous rentals and have only been asked to strip the beds. It took us 3 loads of washing to get all the linens done. It took most of our morning to be able to accomplish this, which gave us little time to enjoy our last morning at the beach. I feel the cleaning person could do the laundry while cleaning the house.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hello Ellen, thank you very much for your review! We and our prospective guests appreciate your insights. We do want to address your issue with the laundry. It is actually common in Manzanita for travelers to be asked to run loads of laundry as they prepare to check out. In fact, all of the Manzanita rental agencies have this policy on their web sites and as part of their requirements and the majority of the private owners do as well. Some rentals even request that laundry is folded and put away which we find onerous! We also provide laundry detergent which many places do not. We do the laundry when we stay at the home. The home is equipped with modern, high capacity, high efficiency laundry appliances. It takes less than 1.5 hours total to run one load of all the linens through and leave a second load of all the towels clean and running in the dryer. We usually drop a load in, go for a walk, then start the second load while we pack up the car. We can however accommodate guests if they run low on time with regard to the linens and towels. Just let us know ahead of time when possible or drop us a line when you are checking out so we can work something out with our exceptional cleaning crew.

The Lakeview house had everything we needed, and more. Very comfortable furniture, especially the beds. High quality towels were appreciated. The bathrooms had the toiletries usually found in hotels so we did not need to bring all the extras. The master bath has a shower and the main bath has a large bath tub, but we were able to work around this and it was not a problem (we were 2 couples). The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and also had condiments and coffee & teas. The view out the large picture window from the living and dining areas was onto the golf course and lake. Very pretty. I liked that there was a breeze way with chairs between garage and house and there was also a glass sliding door out to the yard so the breezeway was protected by wind. I look forward to when we can visit again. I would highly recommend the Lakeview house for two couples or a small family.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, daughter and I really enjoyed our stay at Lakeview Retreat. It was beautiful the night we arrived but then got pretty stormy for the rest of our stay. Still with the cozy living room and the beautiful view from the windows it was a very pleasant experience. The house has every comfort you could want. We had a visit from some deer one day. We did make it down to the beach once when the rain let up a little. Such a beautiful location. I would love to come back when it is less rainy. Manzanita has some great restaurants as well.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Lake Retreat is a perfect rental for a small family or two couples who prefer the slower and more remote beach experience over the hustle & bustle of close by Cannon Beach. The house is in a central location and the beach, golf course, shops & restaurants can easily be reached walking. We did not look into the garage, but especially in the summer, it would be nice to have some bikes to ride around town. The kitchen was well stocked, the rooms and bathrooms clean and the quaint living/dining area made for great family conversations. The nice size TV in the living room and the wireless internet access were welcome by all family members, but could not beat the view of the lake and the ocean. Highly recommended is hiking up Mount Neahkahnie and enjoying the view of the cost line and Nehalem Bay below. Communication with the owner was easy and efficient. We would definitely want to come back and rent this house again in the future. Thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our week at the Lakeview Retreat - great location away from the crowds but close to the beach. The house was clean and had everything we needed including Chestnut-backed Nuthatches, Spotted Towhees, and Red Crossbills in the backyard. We hope to back in a few years to catch the Spring migration and nesting Puffins.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We very much enjoyed Mother's Day weekend at your home. The view of the lake was beautiful and the very short walk to the beach was relaxing. My husband and I stayed at the Lakeview Retreat for six nights in December of 2010. The view was beautiful and serene and the location was actually quite private even though on the golf course (it's set back from the green). We saw deer on Christmas day! The home itself was fully stocked with everything you will need in the kitchen to make your own meals. We made dinner almost every night we were there and never found anything to be lacking (except the toaster needs to be replaced). It's a very cozy home and we were quite comfortable the entire stay. We enjoyed the big screen TV with cable and the wireless internet access as well. The home is pet friendly and we were happy to see the dog bowls and pet towels provided for our terrier. For those who do not have pets it was kept very clean and there was no apparent damage or pet dander at all from previous four-legged occupants. We found the home to be an excellent value in Manzanita. Things to consider: There is a large tub in the guest bathroom but no shower. The shower is in the master bath. It is a few blocks to the beach so walking during the stormy months can get you pretty soaked before you make it to the sand. We drove to beach access and the State Park (only a few minutes away). We would highly recommend this property for a couples getaway or small family with dog. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with and the home was spotless, well supplied, and comfortable, with a lovely view.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our stay in Manzanita and the Lakeview Retreat. The house was very clean and well stocked. A couple of the kitchen appliances (toaster oven and microwave, specifically) were old, not 'user friendly', and should be replaced. The outdoor landscaping appears to have been neglected recently and needs some attention. The views of the pond were lovely and we enjoyed the close proximity to the golf course.Recommended for: Age 55+
Owner response: Thank you very much for your comments. We strive to ensure that our home has everything necessary to provide a comfortable stay. The pictures do reflect the yard condition which we feel is typical of the Northwest coast. The lawn is mowed regularly and we promptly remove any debris that shows up after our Northwest storms blow through. The toaster oven, the toaster, and the refigerator have been replaced. We have tested the microwave and it works well. It is built in, matches the oven and in the interest of sustainable living practices we have decided to keep it for now. We had a quiet and enjoyable time at this lovely, clean, well-supplied house. It has every amenity you could want, has a great view of the golf course and lake, and is a short walk to the beach and town. You can't beat the combination of location and price.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

I had a really nice stay at the Lakeview Retreat. The view is lovely, and there were always ducks swimming on the peaceful lake. The house does sit just above the fairway near the 9th hole, but nonetheless I didn't feel a lack of privacy, and the main view is of the trees right in front of the house and the lake beyond. The interior is tastefully decorated and thoughtfully appointed, and all was clean and comfortable.
