Great cabin! We arrived after dark (check in was no problem!) so we were blown away by the spectacular views that greeted us bright and early the next morning. Lake views, mountain views, lots of critters (chipmunks, deer, moose), and more! Minutes from Grand Lake and RMNP for plenty of hiking and sightseeing. Well maintained cabin. Plenty of space for a family of 4 (three generations) to lounge around and get some private time. At night we opened the windows (with screens) and let in a crisp breeze. We didn't have any problems with the hot water after setting the override switch - three showers in a row with plenty of water. Very relaxing stay and we'll be back again I'm sure!

Our weekend stay at the property was very nice. The views of the lake from a distance were nice, as were the sunsets on the deck. The power station next to the house was a little eyesore, but there isn't anything you can do about that. The house was still really nice. We had to eat outside each night, as there isn't a table inside that seats more than 2 people. The firepit was great, but there weren't any chairs by it, so we ended up lugging chairs from the deck down. The beds were all very comfortable. The only downside to the bedrooms in the basement are that neither one had any window shades on them. It is always nice to be able to sleep in while on vacation, and that was virtually impossible since the sun shone in as soon as it rose. The rooms really would benefit from some curtains. The bathrooms were nice, but there was only 1 shower. The claw-foot bathtub was beautiful, but it would have been great with a shower head we could attach. We had 6 adults, so showering really needed to be scheduled around the shower being free and the hot water available. The house is only a 5 minute drive from downtown Grand Lake, so it was a very nice location. Overall, we had a great time at this house, and we would go back and stay again. Thanks!

We appreciated the location of the log home to Grand Lake and Rocky Mtn. National Park. It is centrally located and easy to access neighboring towns. It is a great depot to take day trips from. The views are quite fantastic. We were able to view the fireworks from the deck. The wildlife was abundant and a joy to watch. Unfortunately we were disappointed in the condition of the accommodations and quality of the amenities. Here is a list of the disappointments we had about this rental property : 1. The bed linens and towels were quite worn. There were not enough towels for the week long stay. 2. We could not get any of the televisions to work and we were instructed by the rentee to "call dish to make sure it's not a problem with the service". We could not even get any of the local stations. 3. There was only enough hot water for 2 people to take a shower. We had to wait 30 minutes to an hour for the water heater to heat the water again in order for the rest of the family. We were a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children. 4. The steps at this rental are quite steep. I would not recommend this property to anyone with young children or disabilities. 5. The weeds around the access doors of the cabin should be maintained and trimmed down….. 6. The windows were very difficult to open and some had no screens at all. We did not want to risk breaking them, so left most of them shut. There are mosquitoes even at high elevations which require screens on all the windows! If these conditions were improved, it would have made us a much more satisfied customer for the money spent.
Owner response:High Efficiency Heating System We installed a new high efficiency thermal storage electric heating system in the house that stores energy during the “off peak' period and releases it during the “on-peak” period. This also means that the water is normally heated during “off peak” periods in order to save money and use energy more efficiently. If you run out of hot water, simply press the 'override' button on the panel in the downstairs bedroom, which will immediately begin to heat the hot-water during the on-peak periods. Once drained, the water heater requires about 30 minutes to reheat. Instructions for the use of the system are included in the welcome packet for each renter before arrival. All other issues listed in the above review have been resolved.

Hi Courtnay, We hope you had a terrific winter break. We wanted to thank you again for the use of your home in Grand Lake. We loved it and had a terrific time up there. Thanks for the tip on sledding down the driveway - we did it everyday. We had the added bonus of watching the midnight fireworks display on New Years Eve from your table. Thanks again for the great time! We hope to be able to do it again soon. Chas
