Breathe the invigorating salt air and listen to the roar of the ocean from our beautiful home, just 150 yards from what we believe is the most beautiful of Maine's beaches, Gooch's Beach, a long strand of white sand that never really gets crowded. Perfect for sunbathing, swimming, surfing or just long quiet walks. Enjoy the use of our beach chairs for relaxing and our boogie boards for wave surfing.
At night you can grill fresh fish on the gas/charcoal grill and dine on our breezy back deck -- fresh fish are just a quick walk or drive into town. Between the family room, the living room and the den -- there's plenty of room for everyone to spread out without even going upstairs to the bedrooms. The den has a futon couch that can become a bed. The den also features its own sliding door to the back deck, which extends the full length of the house. We have digital cable, a DVD and VCR in the living room and basic cable in two of the bedrooms upstairs. Plus you get access to the extensive library of books we like to keep in the house -- we like to read. You'll find new hardwood floors downstairs -- just installed two years ago. There's room for two or three cars in the driveway and one in the garage bay.
There's lots to enjoy in the house -- and even more in the surrounding area: wildlife preserves, kayaking, musical theater, live music, dozens of seafood restaurants, shops, museums and art galleries. Hope this is persuasive.

Why the Owner Chose Kennebunk
For a summer vacation it offers the best escape possible: cool weather, a beautiful long strand of white sand (never too crowded), cold (but not ice cold) ocean water, in a relaxing environment. There are lifeguards but no vendors on the beach. And plenty of places to walk and bike--plus fabulous seafood restaurants just a few minutes away.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We just installed a new kitchen two years ago with a very convenient island in the center, a new stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage disposal. Also a new deep shower in the master bath. We love eating breakfast and reading the paper on the sunny back deck in the morning--and relaxing there with appetizers in the evening before using the gas/charcoal grill to broil swordfish or other fish from the fresh fish store that's just a few minutes away. I like the taste of charcoal so we have a grill where you can use gas or charcoal, as you prefer. And when we want to eat out, there's a tremendous selection of restaurants--the only AAA Five Diamond, Mobil Five Star restaurant north of New York City is less than a half mile away. You can walk to it. The half-bath downstairs also has a washer and dryer.
One of the most beautiful white sandy beaches in all of Maine, and it's just a few minutes walk from the house.
The only AAA Five Diamond, Mobil Five Star restaurant dining north of New York City--and you can walk to it.
This is the heart of Kennebunkport, lots of shops and restaurants, just ten minutes by car, 20 minutes by foot. You can also rent bikes in town.
15 Western Avenue, just a few minutes walk to get newspapers, wine, beer, coffee, sandwiches, sundries.
1 Garden Street, Kennebunk. Full size grocery store: fresh vegetables, deli, dairy, reasonable prices.
Great spot for fresh corn on the cob straight from the field in August
83 Arundel Road Great place to rent and/or buy bikes and bicycle equipment
Owner's Map of Kennebunk
I work in publishing in New York City but fell in love with the Kennebunk area several decades ago. My wife and I and our two boys have been enjoying Gooch's Beach and the surrounding area for more than 20 years (I proposed to my wife on the beach!). We're sure if you come here, you'll leave with many memories too.

We spent a wonderful week over the Forth of July. The beach is perfect for kids--long shallow grade--clean sand to build castles and for walks. The house is just the right distant from the beach for an easy walk but far enough away so you can not hear the traffic from the house. In fact the nights were very peaceful we did not hear any cars and the breeze swaying through the march grass was very soothing. The house had a great deck and a small grassy area for the children to play on. The owner was very helpful in answering all my questions before our stay.
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Perfect location and a good house for the price

We spent a week here with our two kids, ages 6 and 3. The location was even better than advertised. 10 minute walk to the beach, or a 2 minute bike ride. Quiet neighborhood full of friendly families. Also close to Kennebunkport center - we drove because of the kids but it is a short bike ride as well. The house has plenty of space with a living room and 2 dens, and a great back deck with a grill. Well maintained.

Myself, my husband and our 17-month daughter just returned home after spending a wonderful week at this home! We felt we really lucked out with this rental -the beach was just about a one or two minute walk (depending on the little one). Each morning we packed up and grabbed a cup of coffee and spent the day at the beautiful, non-crowded, sandy beach. This property had everything we needed, plenty of room, the kitchen space is excellent and had everything you would need for a week. The back deck was large and added a nice space for us to sit and play. We grilled every night but the last. The last night we took the short trip (2/3 mins) into town and had a great dinner. Thank you Kelly family for letting us use your home...it was just want we needed!
