Lush undergrowth of Sword fern, rich and diverse mosses and the natural ecology of Coastal Douglas Fir forest. Hidden Haven is a serene spot - only one cabin and no other dwellings on its 7 acres of forest. An hour drive in either direction on the Island Highway takes you to top Vancouver Island attractions, and is under 4 hours drive to the awesome West Coast and Pacific Rim National Park.
Like variety without spending all your time in the car? Enjoy both the city and country by combining Cadboro Beach Cottage in Victoria (VRBO 237496) and Hidden Haven. We'll help you with connection to the Via Rail "Dayliner" that will make your experience special and 'green'. A day trip to and from Chemainus from the cabin by train is another unique excursion.
This A-Frame Cabin offers Rustic feel with sloping cedar walls and cast iron wood stove, yet Luxurious with the comfy queen bed and massage table in the loft. Bright open area living room and kitchen, with 3 piece bathroom (shower) on main floor. Gather around the huge circular fireplace or sleep in its flickering glow on the comfortable double futon.
Stroll to the Black Swan Pub at the corner, or swim at Mason's beach. Less than 15 minute walk for supplies at Shawnigan Village, the Historical Museum, coffee shops and groceries.
Within 30 minutes of many excellent golf courses. Many wineries, including popular Cherry Point Vineyards near Cowichan Bay.
Cycle or drive over a few miles of mainly level terrain - to the markets near Mill Bay - Brentwood Bay Ferry, or past vineyards and farms on the Cobble Hill Road to seaside attractions of Cowichan Bay. We are also located near a stop for the Cowichan Valley Transit that offers local area bus service.

Depending on season, you can even travel the back roads to Sooke and Port Renfrew, on the southwestern tip of Vancouver Island.

Why the Owner Chose Shawnigan Lake
We bought a property on impulse - a sign on a telephone pole "6 Acres for Sale". The land backed onto 40 acres of additional woods. We're nearly surrounded by trees and over the 35 years we've owned it, we have kept it natural. Shawnigan is located only 40 minutes from downtown Victoria, so we have a perfect natural retreat surrounded by nature.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
We love the real wood fire, and seeing only trees from all the windows. Most of all, we look forward to the very comfortable mattress on the sleigh bed in the loft. A custom-made massage table. Beauty in all seasons...a dusting of snow or the glistening greens of winter and spring mosses...warmth of summer sun on your deck.
