Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
I grew up in Oregon and have always loved the mountains. My son started ski racing and the next thing I knew I was up at Mt. Hood every weekend. Staying at a friend's cabin, I walked past this cabin with a "FOR SALE" sign on it. The place needed everything. After renovating four houses in Portland, I bought it and went for my fifth renovation. As we call it, "the cabin" has been a home to friends and family ever since. I am a Real Estate Broker in Portland, Oregon. My son is currently living in Colorado and we are not using like we have in the past and would like to share our treasure.
Why the Owner Chose Government Camp
I bought our cabin in 2003 and completely renovated it with new siding, roof, deck, plumbing, electrical, kitchen and added a bath. I was tired of renting dirty places and wanted a place that was comfortable and easy for a weekend and periods of time. We have enjoyed it through the years and it is wonderful year around. I planned to sell it when my son graduated from High School but we have enjoyed it so much that I have now decided to keep it and rent it instead. It is more of a home than a rental.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
It is extremely comfortable, light and bright. Enjoy the sunshine on the deck all day long, walk to trail heads or into Government Camp, 1/10 of a mile away. In the winter we enjoy downhill skiing at one of 4 areas and during the summer there is still skiing at Timberline and wonderful hikes near by. There are several lakes near by to go swimming or fishing.
