Praia da Luz is a great family resort towards the western end of the Portuguese Algarve coast. It has a lovely sandy beach approximately half a mile long and backed by a palm tree lined promenade. At the eastern end of the beach there are spectacular cliffs and at low tide there are rock pools that adults and children alike will love to explore. At the western end of the beach the sand gives way to large flattened rocks where those who like to lie by the sea, but avoid the sand can relax. Praia da Luz has plenty of restaurants which range from cafes and beach bars through bar/restaurants and bistros to plush restaurants. There are several supermarkets and other shops and boutiques, a chemist, bank, internet café, post office and a medical centre where good English is spoken. There is one small nightclub on the sea-front.
There are outdoor pools open to the public in Luz, from Luz Bay Hotel, also with tennis facilities, gardens, bar/restaurants, etc., and at least another public pool in the centre of Luz.

The villa is in a quiet area but you may hear occasional noise. It has a south facing patio area, a south facing balcony, sea views, panoramic views, a barbeque. If you are driving there is private parking and a garage with the outside areas of the house having external lighting.

I bought two houses in Portugal's Algarve (Praia da Luz) in 2004, after spending some time there at a friend's house. It is a beautiful, peaceful area with great weather, golf, beaches and unspoiled scenery. I love spending time there when the houses are not rented out....

The scenery around Luz is really delightful, with a large area of national Park to the nearby West and up the Western seaboard. The Portuguese are charming people, and there a great many relatively unoccupied beaches.
