The rental season for 2009 has been a surprise. For the first time through the winter I had the 4 months of January - May, 2009 rented. The house did well as did the tenants! Then I had an inquiry for another longer term rental and rented it from July 1 - October 31, 2009. It has been a good experience. Based on this, I am open to longer term rentals in the future, including traveling medical professionals, arts/crafts festival participants, or people relocating to the area needing temporary housing.
This home is located on a 2-lane no-outlet, paved road. It is W/C accessible but the modifications blend with the architecture and make regular access easier! There is a ramp to the screened porch on one side; steps on another and ground level access at a third location. The bathroom has H/C toilet, roll-in shower & pedestal sink with a door to the master bedroom creating a "suite-like" effect offering privacy!
The brook really babbles and you can hear it when you sit on the large screened porch overlooking a wonderful southwestern view of the valley & distant mountains. I just installed DSL Internet access and there's a PC w/games available for use. There are two TV's, CD player, VCR and brand new DVD player plus an assortment of books, magazines, playing cards, dominos & board games.
Southwestern NC has so much to offer! There are great garage sales, wonderful thrift stores plus antique and gem shops. The Blue Ridge Parkway is among the most famous scenic drives that are right in the immediate area! There are many arts & crafts shops in and around the area, as well. If you go driving around, you may even run across "FRESH EGGS FOR SALE" signs!
Of course, there's the golfing, wildly popular in Macon & Jackson Counties! For the more daring, there's kayaking, canoeing, hiking, bicycling, etc. The only things you need to bring are clothes and food and maybe your lap-top (although the PC is connected, if you're like I am, you can plug into the modem with your laptop). And for the diehards among you, the Cherokee casinos are convenient for a couple day trips!

- The new walking/bike trail hugs the bank of the Little Tennessee River and is W/C accessible as well as locationally convenient, Many enjoy tubing, kyaking, golfing, garage saling, & routing around in thrift or consignment shops, At the other end of the spectrum, Pigeon Forge, TN, the famous Cherokee, NC casinos, Gaitlinburg, TN and Dillard, GA are convenient day trips, Greenville, SC and Atlanta, GA are each about 2-1/2 hours away! Of course there's the option of just sitting around doing nothing!!! You can do that too!

Why the Owner Chose Franklin
We needed a place that was easily made H/C accessible, was close to the VA Medical Center in Asheville, had good vehicular access, was convenient to services but quiet, and cost effective. This place has been a dream come true for us. Anyone who has traveled with someone requiring hands-on care can understand how difficult the run of the mill motel/hotel can be, especially on the care giver. It's not perfect but it works well for our access needs. I love this place and spend as much time here as possible.
The Unique Benefits of this Single-Story Ranch Style
That it is quiet and I only have to unload/reload the car once! It is well supplied with cooking untensils and I even have cookbooks. By the way, it's quiet....except for the babbling brook.
