We just spent a couple weeks at the house ourselves. The apple tree in the back yard fell in a storm, so I had to cut it up. I saved enough for some great apple-wood smoked barbeque!
I just love the place in the Spring!
I am open to longer term rentals (2-4 or 6 months max) for traveling medical professionals, arts/crafts festival participants, or people relocating to the area needing temporary housing.
This home is located on a 2-lane no-outlet, paved road. It is W/C accessible but the modifications blend with the architecture and make regular access easier! There is a ramp to the screened porch on one side; steps on another and ground level access at a third location. The bathroom has H/C toilet, roll-in shower & pedestal sink with a door to the master bedroom creating a "suite-like" effect offering privacy!
The brook really babbles and you can hear it when you sit on the large screened porch overlooking a wonderful southwestern view of the valley & distant mountains. DSL Internet modem and wireless router are available for use. There are two TV's, CD player, VCR and brand new DVD player plus an assortment of books, magazines, playing cards, dominos & board games.
Southwestern NC has so much to offer! There are great garage sales, wonderful thrift stores plus antique and gem shops. The Blue Ridge Parkway is among the most famous scenic drives that are right in the immediate area! There are many arts & crafts shops in and around the area, as well. If you go driving around, you may even run across "FRESH EGGS FOR SALE" signs!
Of course, there's the golfing, wildly popular in Macon & Jackson Counties! For the more daring, there's kayaking, canoeing, hiking, bicycling, etc. The only things you need to bring are clothes and food and maybe your laptop. For the diehards among you, the Cherokee casino has just been enlarged AND they added a huge free, parking garage! It's only an hour away!
Discovered some good restaurants this trip. "Cafe Rel" at the Hot Spot gas station...no joke, the place has incredible food! Gourmet...classy...tasty...unusual! "The Cajun Connection" on Highland Road. The crab chowder was amazing. The food was not real spicy but extremely tasty. Plus they have a New Orleans beer there kept very cold! The best was the blueberry creme brulee! We also revisited the Thai restaurant on Highland Road and the Blue Ridge Roadhouse (used to be Cody's).

- The new walking/bike trail hugs the bank of the Little Tennessee River and is W/C accessible as well as locationally convenient, Many enjoy tubing, kyaking, golfing, garage saling, & routing around in thrift or consignment shops, At the other end of the spectrum, Pigeon Forge, TN, the famous Cherokee, NC casinos, Gaitlinburg, TN and Dillard, GA are convenient day trips, Greenville, SC and Atlanta, GA are each about 2-1/2 hours away! Of course there's the option of just sitting around doing nothing!!! You can do that too!

Why the Owner Chose Franklin
We needed a place that was easily made H/C accessible, was close to the VA Medical Center in Asheville, had good vehicular access, was convenient to services but quiet, and cost effective. This place has been a dream come true for us. Anyone who has traveled with someone requiring hands-on care can understand how difficult the run of the mill motel/hotel can be, especially on the care giver. It's not perfect but it works well for our access needs. I love this place and spend as much time here as possible.
The Unique Benefits of this House
That it is quiet and I only have to unload/reload the car once! It is well supplied with cooking untensils and I even have cookbooks. By the way, it's quiet....except for the babbling brook.

The owners are wonderful, the property clean, and very comfortable. The amenities can't be beat, all the comforts of home, and more. There is a spectacular mountain view, and a real babbling brook a few feet from the porch. Super easy access, motorcycle friendly, paved road, just 5 or 10 minutes from downtown Franklin. I would and will recommend to friends!
Recommended for:People with disabilities, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

Enjoyed this home very much. Was the nicest house we've ever rented in the mountains. Very comfortable for two people, and can accomodate more if needed. Will be going back again for another visit.
