Modern "Cabin in the Woods" on Duck Lake Near Glacier Park

Year Purchased: 2003

Why the Owner Chose Columbia Falls

We bought our home near Glacier National Park because it was the quintessential "cabin in the woods" on a small lake, yet close enough to civilization to give us all the comforts of life we have become accustomed to. The house's proximity to Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork (Flathead Lake) is fabulous!

The Unique Benefits at this House

We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife from our deck overlooking Duck Lake (moose, bear, beaver, heron, eagles, osprey and, of course, ducks) including the little squirrels and chipmunks around the house, and love the wonderful "back road" access to Glacier National Park. The house is centrally located to virtually anything one would want to do while visiting the area -- Glacier Park, Flathead Lake, Polebridge, Whitefish & more. Secluded, yet still quite close to everything. Even Glacier International Airport is only about a 20 minute drive from the house!

Owner's Map of Columbia Falls

We've loved the Mountain West since we were introduced to it in the early 1980's and finally moved into the Rocky Mountain Region in 1995. We love to spend time in the National Parks located in the Western US and just generally explore this fabulous area of the country. When we aren't dreaming of being independently wealthy, we are working hard at our jobs to earn "play" money so we can continue exploring the Western US and beyond. And no, we're not in the Witness Protection Program as some of our friends have suggested we may be when they saw this photo of us. :->

    • My husband and I found the "cabin" extremely nice. Furnishings were all very nice, the King bed in the loft was especially comfortable, kitchen was nicely equiped and with quality items. It was also exceptionally clean and very new feeling. It was a perfect place to retreat to after a busy day exploring Glacier and surrounding areas. The entire area was very peaceful and there was often wildlife on the lake of which the deck overlooked. Mallard ducks, loons and beaver were regularly seen. I had asked the owners if there was a printer available and at the time there was not but they quickly ordered one and had it there for our use when we arrived. This was not necessary, however it just goes to show how attentive they are to their clients. The Glacier area is fantastic, our memories may fade but we will never forget this trip. The cabin, our home away from home, made it that much more special. We highly recommend you stay at this property.

    • We were originally going to stay at the Belton Chalet, but my husband visited this website and found this lovely home for just a few dollars more. We loved the pond in the back and saw not only a tiny beaver, but one that was full grown and about 5 feet long! He was eating lily pads!! The couches were SO comfortable. You just sink down in them! A very nice touch was a shoulder/back massager I found under the sink in the bathroom. I came home and ordered one! It was ideal to have after rafting and hiking! We ate left overs one night from dining out and while preparing those or fixing breakfast, I could look out over the pond. We really enjoyed the double doors in the den to be open as well, to let in the fresh air and allow a clear view of the pond's activity. The best was simply the "quiet". We commented to each other had we been at a hotel, there could be no telling who could have been beside or above us to disturb the absolute peace we were enjoying! We recommend this home with no hesitations!

    • We recently stayed one week at this property. The cabin, its location and the amentities were excellent. The cabin overlooks a small lake, with a large patio/deck to sit on and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet. There is high speed internet and direct TV provided. Nearly everything is new in the cabin, including an outside BBQ grill. I highly recommend this property. It is ideally locate near Colombia Fall, Kalispell, Whitefish, and most of all Galcier National Park. I only wish we would have had more time to stay. I definately intend on returning.
