We loved the log house but were very disappointed that it had no beach or pier. The pier was three lots away and quite a hike from property. We had to take our boat in and out every time we wanted to use it, which was a drawback to the vacation. I would not recommend this to anyone with small children because of the lack of beach or swimming area. We also had the attack of black flies which meant we could not be outside or on the lake as much as possible. I would not rent in this area again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Surprisingly, the review above was received nearly two months after the rental. The rental documents clearly addressed nearly everything complained of; the review is in stark contrast to the many satisfied renters we've had the past 4 years. Ironically, we actually spoke with the renter during the rental: we were told "things were great, everyone was having a good time," and not one word was mentioned regarding any of things complained of. As was discussed on the phone with this renter, and as we do with all our renters, we clearly stated that our cabin DID NOT have a formal beach directly behind it. We indicated to the renter on the phone that while you could swim behind the house, there was no formal sand beach. We clearly stated in the signed rental agreement and cabin instructions, that there was a sandy beach area to the north about ¼ mile near our boat pier and a public beach to the south about ½ mile near the boat launch. For the renter to complain about the lack of a beach directly behind the house, when they were told (both verbally and in writing) that there was no such beach, is disingenuous at best. We have three kids ourselves, the vast majority of our renters are families with children, and to imply that things are not kid friendly is just off the mark. The signed rental agreement documents also made clear, in BOLD ALL CAPS, that you could not tie a boat up to our pier for an extended time. The renter agreed in writing that they knew they had to take any boat out of the water at the end of each day. For a person to agree to the pier usage rules, acknowledging that boats could not remain in the water, and then posting a negative comment about the very thing that was agreed to, is simply misleading. The boat policy and proximity of the pier was made clear in BOLD ALL CAPS in two separate documents. With respect to outdoor flies, I'm not quite sure how I could have controlled Mother Nature. We've never had a complaint about that issue before. If you had called us we could have very easily had our maintenance man come over and spray the yard to try and alleviate the problem. We've had nothing but gratified guests, and to have this review publically associated with our cabin, when the majority of points complained about were actually agreed to and acknowledged by you in writing, is really disheartening. We're a mom and pop renter, and to say that this review was very unfair and misguided would be an understatement.

My Husband and I LOVED the cabin! The home and property were absolutely beautiful. The inside was spotless upon arrival and had a welcome basket that added such a personal touch to the home. We have children from age 2 to 16 and the kids were well taken care of with the available activities. We enjoyed the sandpit with all the sand toys, biked the trail along the lake, used the fishing poles and extensive tackle box to fish off the pier, used the canoe, and made smores around the fire pit. The sleeping arrangements were wonderful. The children loved the youth room and we loved the expansive large bedrooms. The family room was perfect for games and sharing time together and the open concept of the kitchen didn't leave Mom or Dad cooking separate from the action. This cabin had all the extras that we didn't even know we needed. The owners of the home had all the bases covered to offer a relaxing vacation experience. Because of the season, the lake had algae which brought in biting flies, but it didn't damper the amazing cabin experience. I hope we have the opportunity to visit again in the future!! The owners were fantastic! They did everything to make our vacation great for us. Thank you very much!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.

My family had the pleasure of retreating to this beautiful cabin for a long weekend with our very good friends. We had plenty of room to sleep 3 couples and our 2 children in the large 3 bedrooms. We woke up Saturday morning to an unexpected blanket of snow on the ground. The view of the lake from the living room was beautiful. We cozily watched the snow fall while we relaxed in front of the fire. The snow in April didn't stop us from exploring the paths around the lake, though. There were spring flowers just starting to come up and their buds were poking up through the snow on the ground. On Sunday morning we were greeted by the sun glistening on the water and once again green grass. The guys decided to take the canoe out and paddled around the lake. They were the only boat on the lake that afternoon. The cabin is beautiful inside and we found everything we needed to prepare our meals in style in the well stocked kitchen. We even found a waffle iron and decided to make Belgian waffles for breakfast. Before we left it had warmed up enough for us to grill and eat out on the deck. I highly recommend this cabin for families and/or friends who want to spend some quality time together away from a hectic tourist oriented vacation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway.
