Location: Elizabethton, East, Tennessee, USA (Part of Tri-City Area of Kingsport, Bristol & Johnson City)
Accommodations: Historic House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 3-6)
Step back in time and spend a few days or a few weeks, in the Historic Carriger Mansion in the beautiful Watauga Valley of East Tennessee. The first brick house in carter county, it was built in 1815 by Godfrey Carriger. Mr. Carriger was a wealthy farmer who also owned and operated several iron furnaces and foundrey's along the Stoney Creek.
The bricks for the home was made on-site as well as lumber cut nearby. The original detached kitchen still remains along with a smoke house. The first floor consists of a formal living room, a parlor, a dining room, a full bathroom, a kitchen with, and what was a working fireplace that was used for cooking. Also added later was a sun porch and a pantry.
The second floor consists of a master bedroom with a fireplace. The second bedroom also has a fireplace as well as the third bedroom. Two full bathrooms were added later. It has two sets if stairs one of which was used by the servants. Servent's quarters were in the basement.
The house is furnished with antiques of that period but yet very comfortable and relaxing. The floors are wide plank heart pine, beautifully refinished with nicely placed oriental scatter rugs.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
I am sixty-nine years old with a passion for old buildings and antiques including classic cars. I have bought and restored several homes in the last ten years in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. This one is by far my favorite. I reside in South Carolina where we are currently restoring a Civil War era plantation house. Parents of three sons and one daughter, all of which are serving the Lord.
Why the Owner Chose Elizabethton
My love for the mountains.
The Unique Benefits of this Historic House
Very physically, mentally, and spiritually therapeutic. Especially in a day of high stress, hustle and bustle of daily living, which is why we chose not to have television and phones.
