Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

Tom and Julie Kopf are the owners of Sky Lodge. They purchased the Lodge in 2007 and spent two years renovating the Lodge and turning it into a place where people can come and find a real retreat. Almost every aspect of the Lodge was made over in the process, from the Tower to the hand-crafted beds, created by Tom. They live in the Bristol Hills where they have raised their twins, Becky and Jimmy and are now raising their two Maltese pups.

The Unique Benefits of this Lodge

There is no place quite like the Lodge. An Adirondack Great Camp style Stone Lodge, the building already stands out as unique. It also has much of the original ironwork, including a huge original chestnut farm table and benches that is perfect for the family to gather around. The Lodge is a place that people should be able to relax in. It is set on private 34 acres, so is peaceful without the worries of the world. We have tried to make it as user-friendly as possible, providing a fully-equipped kitchen, and by providing linens and towels for our guests. In addition, we've created the perfect place to sit back- actually a few of them: the chairs on the deck, the huge, comfortable couches in the living room, the custom-upholstered rocking chairs by the fireplace, the chairs in the tower room, the claw foot tub in the main bath and the Jacuzzi in the master bath! Does life get any better?

What A Wonderful Time!

Guest: Linda (Bridgewater, NJ)
Date of Stay: 11/10/11 Review Submitted: 11/13/11

Just got back from four days at Sky Lodge. Hard to describe how wonderful and beautiful this place is. The pictures cannot fully convey the warm and inviting feeling in this lodge, the gorgeous views, the charming town of Naples and the peace, relaxation and joy you feel from being there. The owners are very friendly & helpful. Always ready to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one. The five of us watched the sunrise every morning from the front porch and could not believe the beauty of it. Looking to get away and leave it all behind for awhile and connect with nature and family/friends - this is the place for you!! Loved it - we will be back!!

As Close To Heaven As You Can Get

Guest: Michele (Carbondale, Pa.)
Date of Stay: 08/06/11 Review Submitted: 08/15/11

When I first saw the picture of the porch at Sky Lodge in a magazine advertisement I knew that was the place I wanted to sit and enjoy a few days of total relaxation. I invited my sister, cousin, and a friend to join me in some time to escape reality. We hoped the pictures were not lying...and as we are now making plans to return with our families, we realize they only began to tell a story. This place was beyond any other "get a way" any of us had ever experienced. We heard every bee buzz, the hummingbirds' wings flap, and most of all we heard each other. We laughed, cried, played kid games, and enjoyed just being at the lodge. Tom and Julie accommodated our every need and offered great hospitality. We felt like we were right at home and were able to truly enjoy the view. The historic place was spotless, neat and incredibly decorated with history. We are looking forward to returning year after year as "the girls," but to also bring our families to see what a magnifcant place this is to make lasting memories. We thank Tom and Julie for putting all their time into such a treasure that allowed us some time to just breathe, put life into perspective, get our priorities in order, and feel a sense of renewal.

Owner response:Thank you so much for the kind words Michele. We are always happy to see people come up to unwind and find what they were looking for. You and your group were a pleasure to meet. One of your girls has already set a date to come back with her husband and kids. We look forward to meeting all of your families. See you soon, Tom & Julie

great spot for a winter retreat

Guest: Molly (Rochester, NY)
Date of Stay: 02/04/11 Review Submitted: 02/17/11

Tim and Julie were amazing hosts at this wonderful retreat, completely accessible but not overbearing. It is even more lovely than the photos. Tim had a fire going and the place was immaculate and warm. The views and hiking trails were lovely, the kitchen worked great. I would recommend this spot highly and hope to return again. I loved the big comfy couches and the cool old ironwork. Some of us went to snowshoe at the nature center and visit Naples....I was happy just staying by the fire and relaxing.

A magical place to get away from it all

Guest: Danielle (Rochester, NY)
Date of Stay: 02/04/11 Review Submitted: 02/16/11

My girlfriends and I planned a weekend to reconnect and take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily living. The healing and relaxation began with our drive to Sky Lodge (easy to get to and not far from the City). We were warmly welcomed by Tom and Julie, and were awestruck at the beauty of Sky Lodge and its surroundings. We ran through the Lodge shouting like children! The pictures on the website cannot do Sky Lodge justice-it is a slice of heaven! If you are looking for a get away that isn't too far from "civilization" Sky Lodge is for you. We were able to cross country ski and spend the afternoon in Naples without feeling worn out from driving around. My favorite part might just be sledding down the hill. It really was a magical weekend, just what we needed to get us through the rest of the winter. We have decided to make our girls weekend an annual event at Sky Lodge!

Sky Lodge Rocks!

Guest: MLKR (Cleveland Ohio)
Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 02/15/11

We stayed at Sky Lodge for our first trip to Bristol Mountain in January. We all felt that the pictures of the lodge just don't do it justice. It is much larger than it appears in the pictures and the property is breathtaking. Julie and Tom have done a wonderful job restoring the lodge and bringing it into the modern age while retaining an elegant charm. Our family of 2 adults and 2 preteens loved it! We almost didn't want to leave to go skiing. We will definitely be returning to Sky Lodge!

We had a wonderful time at Skylodge, a beautifully restored, charmingly idiosyncratic craftsman lodge in the Finger Lakes region. The accommodations were delightful, the property beautiful, the kitchen well-equipped and the hosts gracious and helpful. We'd be back in a second if we didn't live so far away.
