Just four blocks from the beach, you can bring your helmets and ride the PROVIDED BIKES on the level streets into town to enjoy the sandy beaches of Kings Beach, restaurants, shops, movie theater, seasonal farmer’s market and weekend arts and crafts fair. Or take the two PROVIDED KAYAKS for an early morning paddle on the crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe.
Staying in this “new to the market” vacation rental you can have access to hiking and biking trails just blocks away, Fourth of July fireworks, enjoy Shakespeare on the Lake during the months of July and August, spend a day floating down the Truckee River, golf the alpine courses, fly fish the high sierra lakes and rivers…and just think this is only a few suggestions to all the outdoor fun Tahoe has to offer, plus just 10 minutes away from Northstar skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, roller skating rink in the summer or the ice skating rink in the winter. Or better yet, do absolutely nothing and feel good about it!
Enjoy morning sun on the front and back porch, mid-day sun on the upstairs deck just outside the master suite, and late day sun on the back patio. Prepare your meals in the cozy country kitchen or BBQ on the back deck while enjoying the large landscaped backyard. Once the sun sets you can start a fire amidst the chimney (wood provided) for those cooler nights.
For those warm nights one can bring your sleeping bags and sleep under the stars by setting up the sturdy airbed with frame on the upper deck outside the master bedroom.
SNUGGLE IN THE queen-sized sleigh bed with the comforts of memory foam and quality linens UNDER the CUSTOM 20 FOOT OPEN BEAMED, CATHEDRAL CEILING in the large master suite. And enjoy the bright, NEWLY REMODELED MASTER BATH with HEATED PORCELAIN TILE FLOORS.
The intimate family room on the main floor has satellite TV and a DVD player with surround sound. Stay warm on those cool nights with the convenience of the freestanding gas stove. This room can also function as a second separate sleeping area. The main floor bathroom has a SLATE WALK-IN SHOWER with a rain shower head.

We are California natives with homes overlooking the beautiful Russian River Valley and another in the midst of the lush Napa Valley; but there is nothing like smelling the crisp mountain air while skiing these world renown slopes in the winter and spring or gliding on the cool waters of Lake Tahoe on a hot day. There is nothing like the relaxing feeling that the fresh Sierra mountain air does for you.

My family spent a wonderful week at the cottage. The weather was perfect we used the bikes and kayaks and enjoyed a nice hike on the Lake Tahoe Rim Trail. Dinning on the deck and making Samores in the evening was the best. The cottage is located in just the right spot, being able to walk down to the lake and walk around town was really nice. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint. Everything is provided, the booklet put together by the owner is very helpful when using the cottage.

We just came back from three nights at the Gingerbread Cottage and had a wonderful time there. We were a couple with a young child, plus my sister. The top bedroom with its cathedral ceiling is gorgeous and spacious. The kitchen is cute, well stocked and has nice big windows onto the yard. The living room is very, very cozy with its fireplace, and the queen sleeper is very comfortable. Rosemary was a pleasure to deal with throughout, and when I needed special consideration due to a ski accident she was very gracious about going the extra mile (or two). Thank you!

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your sweet cottage. Once we figured out the lighting, all was perfect! We enjoyed the kayak, bikes, location to everything, comfy bed, warm bathroom floor, BBQ and amenities. We wondered if you also arranged the perfect weather.

We came to the Gingerbread cottage to celebrate our son's first birthday and the only regret we have is not staying longer! A magical setting - right out of a storybook. We will definitely be back !

We started our honeymoon with a few days in Tahoe at the Gingerbread Cottage. It was fantastic! It met or exceeded our expectations in every way. All of the amenities were included, the house was clean and ready for us, and everything was there and ready to use. It is a short walk from the lake, but far enough away to be a quiet retreat. The house binder included great information about things to do nearby, from groceries and restaurants to hikes and beaches. They really have made this a home away from home.
