Just got back from spending Thanksgiving week at this wonderful house. All of the previous reviews are spot on: the house and property are just fantastic! The house is spacious, well stocked and clean. Mike and Elaina are gracious hosts who have anticipated all of your needs including the supermarket discount card attached to the keys which will be on the kitchen island when you arrive. The kids (15 & 8) were able to hike to the waterfall and enjoy the stream (which you can hear from the master bedroom downstairs). Thanksgiving dinner was a breeze to put together while everyone else enjoyed the fire pit, roasted marshmallows and (more importantly) stayed out of the kitchen. The hot tub, including the sauna and outdoor speakers, was amazing. It was a secluded and peaceful vacation with plenty of room for everyone......I miss it already!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

No pictures or description can really convey how awesome this little piece of Heaven is. From the moment we arrived to the time we had to sadly say goodbye, we discovered more and more about how wonderful the location and amenities are. The cabin and game room have everything you need to relax and have fun, and being avid antique junkies, we loved the antiques used in decorating. We loved exploring the area by day and enjoying a fire or a game of pool upon returning. Of course, with the waterfall on the property, we didn’t have to go very far to enjoy the beauty of the mountains, and you could spend hours relaxing in the hammock, while listening to the water. We had hoped to see wildlife and beautiful autumn colors on our trip and did we ever! We got to Cataloochee Valley early one morning and were amazed at the number of elk we saw and how close they came to us. Being mating season, we had the privilege of hearing the mature bulls bugling as they walked with their harems. The young bulls could be seen keeping their distance. At Cades Cove, we saw a lot of deer and even a couple of black bear on one of our hikes, and a black bear high in a tree, entertaining the crowds. The beautiful fall colors were very intense on the Foothills Parkway and near Franklin, especially on the drive to Laurel Falls. And right in our own backyard, we found Tatham Gap Road ablaze with color. We hope this rental is still available when we are able to return. It has been several weeks since our stay and we can’t stop talking about the dream vacation we had.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

So, here I go...excluding personally identifiable information and all.. :) This place is a little slice of heaven. The amenities are outstanding, and the property is meticulously clean. I am very upset that I didn't have time to use everything since we were constantly running around to go rafting or pick apples. The cabin is centrally located to a number of great fishing and rafting rivers including the Nantahala, Chatooga, and the Ocoee. A number of vineyards and wineries with tasting rooms are also nearby, as well as a tasting room for fresh hard cider at the Mercier Orchard in Blue Ridge. And don't forget about potential day trips to Gatlinburg in the north and Asheville to the east. That being said, next time I come back, I think I will just sit in the hot tub outside and enjoy the sound of the creek and a glass of wine. Oh yeah, and the boyfriend loves it, too. He and the other boys sat around and played guitars and drank beer and watched football in the game room....man cave paradise!!!! Thanks E & M!! We had the most fabulous time at the cabin! We just loved falling asleep hearing the clear rushing creek running along outside. The weather was perfect and we were able to sit outside in peace without too many bugs to bother us. The waterfall is to die for!!! The "gameroom" is really your own personal bar. One night we enjoyed an Eagles concert dvd while playing pool after a huge dinner cooked to perfection on the grill. The cabin's location makes it a wonderful "jumping off" place for taking in the sights. We saw bear cubs and elk in the Smokey National Park and managed to take in Amicalola Falls in Northern Georgia. We even went white water rafting for the first time on the Natahala River. I can't say enough great things about the interesting knick-knacks and such. It all made for an outstanding getaway for us and we would rebook in an instant! Thank you for the most enjoyable trip possible Mike & Elaina!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

"Wildreness Resort" what more can you say..!! It's a slice of heaven!! Our friends from Jacksonville Fla. have never been to the mountains, so this was PERFECT!! It was paradise, every morning I would make coffee before anyone was up & sit out by the creek and just soaking up the peace & quiet with the sound of the creek..It was amazing!! We did go out & zip lined & water rafting but coming back to the cabin was magical. We bar-b-q'ed everynight, the weather was perfect..& no mosquitos!!! The cabin & game house were sparkling clean. The waterfall was a bit of a hike but you have to do it...words can't describre the beauty of it!! This home is more than you can imagine!! My husband who lives/works with his phone to his ear...TURNED IT OFF!!!! We towed our motorcycles with us & the rides we took thru the mountians were picture perfect!! Thank you Mike & Elaina for sharing your home with us, I can't say it enough how peaceful, magical, beautiful, amazing this piece of paradise was!! I didn't want to leave, I teared up on the porch the morning we were leaving & my husband gave me a big hug & said "You did good (picking Wilderness Resort) Darlin' & we'll be back..It's been a week since we left & I'm ready to go back..miss my coffee by the creek!! Thank you again Mike & Elaina!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The review title of "Totally Legit" was provided by my 14 year old daughter which was her first reaction, and highest possible accolade, upon arrival at the cabin. If you want to be a hero for your children, let this cabin do the job for you - everything teenage children would want, and the same for the parents. Other than that I would just second everything that you could read in the other five star reviews. The location is easily accessible from the highway and convenient to Andrews for groceries. We had good experiences with the following activities: rafting (Carolina Outfitters), horseback (Lonsome Dove Stables), zip line (Nantahala Canopy Tour), Ropes Course (NOC Advanture Center), pottery making (the girls loved Pincu Pottery); and, the Burger Barn near NOC for lunch. Thanks to the Owners for letting us use the cabin and the many wonderful memories.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank You so much for your great review and also the information about the area for others to see,Glad you enjoyed your stay ,Mike& Elaina

All I can say is that you have ruined any future vacations for us! We will never be able to find another place as WONDERFUL as this. The title says it all...it is a resort. You don't have to go beyond the gates to find plenty to do. The stream is absolutely amazing. The house is super quiet, but once you open the door, you are engulfed in nature, especially the mesmerising sound from the stream. The deck is a perfect place for a good book and a glass of wine! And how many people can say they have a waterfall practically in their backyard?!? The only rule for vacation is 'no electronics' so we had 4 'teenagers' (11,13,15, and 17) to keep entertained. Turned out we didn't have to do any work, the property did it all. The t.v.'s rarely came on. Our 17 y/o son even had his own "place" in the gameroom to hide from all the girls! I don't know how many times I heard "you did a great job, mom!" I took the credit, although it belongs to the owners! We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and just like home. I almost had to leave my husband there because he didn't want to go when it was time! The locals are super friendly and the owners were great about helping when I called to ask a question. They even have brochures available for all of the activities in the area. Even though we had plenty to do at the house, we still enjoyed local rafting, ziplining, and hiking. Thank you for sharing your own little slice of heaven with us!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We have stayed in many VRBO rentals, but this one has captured our hearts! The Wilderness Resort was more than we could have imagined. Our family of 6 had everything we needed and wanted for our annual Father's Day vacation. The house was beautifully decorated and the game house was fun for all! The babbling creek, hammock, hot tub and waterfall were such great entertainment, that we did not leave the house at all on our first day! And of course, the fire pit was perfect for our hot dog and s'more's dinner. The next day we ventured out to some of the local places that Mike and Elaina had suggested we visit. The Ottercreek Trout Pond was so fun and educational - and of course provided us with dinner for the next 2 nights. The Horseshoe Creek Stables gave the kids horse rides and the whole family got on the wagon ride to The Trail of Tears. We ate lunch at the Burger Basket twice - a local hangout and great burgers! Mike directed us to the Nantahala River, where my husband fished for trout and the kids swam and played in the rushes and mini watefalls. I have already recommended the Wilderness Resort to my friends and family, but this is the first time I have taken the time to write and review to recommend a property to other VRBO users - you won't be dissappointed! \Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

My family stayed here over memorial day week, and were absolutely thrilled with it. As many things are in life, not as good as they are described; this was not the case with this cabin. I truly feel that the pictures don't do it justice. My wife and I repeatedly talked about how it was way better than we expected. It's only been a couple of weeks since we visited, and we are looking forward to visiting again. My children were occupied the entire time with the creek, and would come in periodically shouting, "Mom, Dad, come look at this!" This happened every day while we were there. The waterfall was so beautiful, it looked man-made, but obviously wasn't. We will be coming back again. Thank you for making this place available for others to enjoy!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We stayed here for the long Memorial Day Weekend. All I can say is, is there is no possible way you could ask for any more that this cabin had to offer. Even by the last day we were still discovering new things we had not noticed in the cabin or grounds. It is a privilege that owners let us stay at their awesome piece of the world and we want to come back if we are lucky enough in the fall or winter.
