My husband and I have traveled extensively and this is the best rental cabin we have ever stayed in. The location feels like you are in the middle of a national park since it is nestled at the end of a dead end street. There is nothing better than sleeping with the windows open and drifting off to the sound of a rushing creek. The owners have thought of every detail which made our stay perfect and relaxing. We hope to return as soon as possible!

We spent four nights at the Wilderness Resort and enjoyed every minute. The creek runs right in front of the cabin and you can hear it inside the cabin which adds to the charm and wonderful natural setting. The waterfall is a nice hike up from the creek and a wonderful asset, not something you find often. It is a great place for families with the game room in a separate building and beds in there as well. We could not have been happier. I have only one recommendation........a new mattress on the master bedroom bed.
Owner response:Mary Ann I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Wilderness Resort. We have replaced the master bedroom mattress with a new double pillow top one. Thank you for your suggestion.

This cabin was simply AMAZING! The owners have thought of everything to create an unbelievable mountain retreat. The main house is gorgeous... wood inside and out, with spectacular decor that enhanced the ambiance. My husband and I stayed for a week with another couple, we each had our own master bedrooms and private baths... we couldn't have been more comfortable. The game cabin was used frequently as well as nightly bonfires next to the roaring river and the waterfall is awesome! We were five minutes from the small town of Andrews but when we drove through the gates we were completely secluded. Thank you Mike and Elaina for sharing your little slice of heaven... we will DEFINATELY be back!

This is the BEST rental EVER. We have used VRBO numerous times, always had good luck,BUT this place is above the top , over the edge AMAZING. Hubby and I , son ,his wife , their 3 almost 4 year old son , and my 24 year old daughter stayed here for a week. Enough room , enough space , enough BEAUTY!!! We hiked the waterfall 2 xs ,, had lunch in the cave. Took several day trips to Smokey Mountains ,hiking and waterfalls. Bryson .And even went into Gatlinburg one day after tossing some snowballs on top of the smokey mountain. And the best memory of all , is the JOY my grandson and I had tossing rocks into the stream on the side of the cabin. Memories forever!

This was our second year visiting the Wilderness Resort. We knew the day we left last year we'd be back. Over 700 Pictures and our camera still can't capture how beautiful and surreal this place really is. The smells the sounds the peacefull atmosphere is not comparable to any other place ive visited. Nearing the end of our wk stay we decided to go for a walk to the waterfall... to my surprise while standing underthe falls getting sprinkled by the water I was proposed to.! One of the most amazing moments of my life, and will be rememberd always. Each time we visit Wilderness Resort i'll always remember our engagement and how your cabin and our time here made this wk more speacial then we could ever of hoped. Thanks so much for another memorable time away in the mountains. We will be back!!!! Kate and Cam
Owner response:Congratulations you two, that is so awesome. We look forward to you guys coming with your friends. We are so glad that you all enjoy the Wilderness cabin as much as we do. thank you for the great review and for sharing your good time. We look forward to seeing you guys next year.

We stayed 31 days and was concerned that we would be bored. As it turned out we did not want to leave. If you can not relax at this cabin you can not relax anywhere. We zip line, golf, duckies, horse back riding and went up in a airplane. Did the dragon trail and trail of tears. LOVED, LOVED , LOVED IT

WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN.ANDREWS IS A FRIENDLY SMALL TOWN AND IT IS VERY SCENIC.THERE IS PLENTY OF THINGS TO DO TO KEEP BUSY AT THE CABIN OR IN ANDREWS. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THE WILDERNESS RESORT TO ANYBODY THAT WANTS TO STAY IN A MOUNTAIN PARADISE. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE WATERFALL AND TAKE A PEACEFUL DRIVE UP THE TRAIL OF TEARS. We took our four boys here on vacation last week and 9 days just wasn't enough!!!! The owners are helpful and prompt, and the cabin is absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe all the time it must have taken to get it decorated so perfectly. My boys loved going to the waterfall and getting freezing cold, and then coming back to the hot tub to soak! And even in the hot weather, the trees shade the cabin, and I loved to sit and read on the porch with the porch fans pulling in cool breezes from the creek. Tons of whitewater rafting and horseback riding in the area, plus lots of other things to do as well. We would have LOVED to have stayed another week!!!! We'll be back!

We usually rent homes on our vacations and have high standards. When they say "wilderness resort" understand it is like having your own small resort. There is no one else around and it is all yours. The location is within 8 minutes of downtown Andrews (food store, small movie theatre, etc.) but why leave the resort. When we arrived through the gates we pulled up and immediately saw the game room cabin on the right, main cabin straight ahead, and stream on the left. We all were very excited. It's almost sensory overload at first with all the cool things to do. The main cabin is very nice and cozy with two stone fireplaces and a loft with jacuzzi. Great for a family or two couples, although the resort could entertain many more. The game room cabin is one large room with a bar area, pool table with ample room around it, bunk beds and game table so our girls spent countless hours in "their own cabin" and loved it. Everything is clean and the whole resort is very well thought out with lots to do for a whole week. I would recommend trying to stay at least 4 or 5 nights because I guarantee you won't want to leave any sooner. There is a nice hot tub overlooking the rolling stream. How much better can it get than that? Try a short but sporty hike up the trail to the very impressive waterfall. It has to be at least 20-25 feet high and is beautiful (be careful of the slippery rocks). The one day away from the cabin we went whitewater rafting. There are several options and the rivers are beautiful. I am writing this on our last night here and am sad to be leaving but glad to have given my family wonderful memories. Thanks to the owners who handled the transaction flawlessly.

We had such a great time at Wilderness Resort. Mike and Elaina were very helpful with any questions we had. We got to meet Mike upon our arrival and once again when we had a little issue(they were extremely prompt at addressing). He was very helpful with questions we had. Anyone with little ones will love this place. No video games were played, just kids being kids in the creek. Hours of free entertainment. The 7 year old that was with us didn't want to leave. Can't wait to go back. Thanks again to Mike and Elaina for sharing your little piece of paradise.

When we drove up our boys jumped out of the car and said, "thank you so much mom and dad, this is awesome"! I sought long and hard for a place for our family to enjoy a much needed get-a-way after my husbands 3rd overseas deployment! I have to say we were all very pleased! It was super clean and well maintained! There was so much for the boys to do there as well. We spent most of our time exercising in some way: hiking, rafting, etc. Having grown up going to my parent's cabin in Nantahala (which they recently had to sell) this was a sentimental time for me as well. I have so many sweet memories from this area. I am so thankful for the week and hope to return another time!

How do you put into words a place like this. The pictures really dont do this place justice. When you stay hear everything you need is near by, but nothing or anyone are within sight. Its like being in a fortress, and the rest of the world cant get in. your surrounded by a mountain on all sides except for the alley way down to the gates. The stores are close by for grocerices maybe ten minutes at the most, but there isn't anything visible from the cabin nor can any sounds be heard, well except for the babbling brook which is just a few feet away and is so relaxing to just sit and listen to. The wind that seems to always blow the most comfortable cool breeze from the stream accross the porch of the cabin or the game room cabin feels like natures AC, and you hardly get any direct sun except for about three hours during the middle of the day. We've been bringing our motorbike up here to this area for the past six years to ride the dragon, the skyway, and all the other great roads, but this was the first time we enjoyed the place we stayed at as much as the places we'd ride to, this place has it all. Coming back from riding on the days we did ride we loved being able to grill steaks and play pool or just sit and relax in the hot tub. I know one thing I wont have to do next year, and thats look for a place to stay. We'll be back hear again. We were able to meet Mike, and he was great guy that will help with any problem you may have while staying hear. They are good people with a great cabin, and I'd like to thank them for sharing it with my wife and I during our two week vacation it was fantastic Thanks

I am sitting in the living room of this beautiful cabin and am sad that we are leaving tomorrow. We spent our honeymoon here and could not have asked for a better place. We had a great time at the cabin and in the local communities: Andrews, Murphy, Bryson City, Robbinsville, and Joyce Kilmer National Forest. The house is decorated tastefully. You can tell that the owners really care about the place. It is more than a rental property - it is like visiting someone's home - no details were missed. The cabin would please anyone with any taste. It is very clean (no bugs or spider webs) and relaxation at every turn with one-touch fireplaces, perfectly-heated hot tub, and peacefully-located hammock (over the rushing creek). Honestly, the photos cannot capture what this place has to offer. If you are considering a place in this area, stop looking - it's perfect! We bought groceries at the local grocery store (Ingles) for most meals, but our favorite restaurant was Doyle's in Murphy. The restaurants in Andrews weren't very good. However, the people here are super friendly. The best recommendation that we can give is that we plan to return for our future anniversaries. I will definitely share our experience with our friends and families. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us, Mike and Elaina! We can't wait to return!

My family and I recently stayed in this heavenly cabin. We could not believe our eyes when we first arrived - the pictures although beautiful, do not convey the natural beauty of this cabin. The cabin was spotless and is very tastefully decorated with rustic decor. It is roomy, uncluttered and serene. My children enjoyed the extra large fireplace in the living room and we slept with the fireplace on in the master bedroom each night. I was pleasantly surprised to find the fireplaces were gas, I'd never experienced one before and thought it would be a disappointment not burning real wood, however, having a blazing fire at the press of a button was a real treat. Each evening after our family returned from various activities we would build a nice fire in the fire pit where the children would roast marshmallows and sometimes hotdogs. Sitting near the fire outside and listening to the running water of the brook nearby was nothing less than therapy. We also took the 10 minute hike to the waterfall which was breathtaking. We all enjoyed the hike very much, as at times the terrain was steep and uneven and made it adventurous for the children. We were able to walk behind the waterfall which was a lot of fun. The children enjoyed a Jacuzzi bath inside the cabin each evening after spending time in the outdoor Jacuzzi. My husband loved the outdoor sauna next to the Jacuzzi. We also enjoyed the gameroom that housed a pool table, card table and listened to our favorite music. Sometimes we grilled outside and enjoyed our food at the picnic table outside the gameroom. My children did not ask for their electronic toys the first time during this vacation. We spent the majority of our time outdoors as a family and by the end of the evening the children were tired and ready for bed! I cannot say enough good things about this place. My husband was ready to book our next trip before we even left the cabin! We are greatly looking forward to our next visit and plan to return here often in the future.

Okay, so just when you think that you’ve stayed at a cabin where someone’s thought of EVERYTHING, you walk into Mike and Elaina’s cabin. There is not one single thing you could or would even want change about this cabin, the environment, or the people who own it. We found ourselves time and time again saying, “They even thought of that!” If you’re thinking of staying anywhere else in or near the NOC, don’t! Normally, we count the months, weeks, and days UNTIL we’re going on vacation… this time, we’ve counted the days/weeks since we’ve left! Thank you Mike and Elaina!

We stayed a weekend at this drop dead gorgeous log cabin and feel utterly rejuvenated. We have stayed at several different vrbo cabins before, but this one tops them all! The cabin is very secluded, spotlessly clean, with all amenities and situated next to a crystal clear stream...a "WOW" experience! Photos can't do it justice. The kids enjoyed the "game room". The owner was very helpful and accommodating (we made the reservations at the last minute). We highly recommend this cabin. We'll be back (hopefully soon) : )!

I took my sons (ages 13 & 10) to Wilderness Resort for Spring Break 2011. Driving through Andrews, NC, (which is a darling town), the GPS tells us we're just a mile or so from the cabin and we thought "Oh, this cabin is going to be more of a town cabin." Boy, were we wrong! When you go through the gates to Wilderness Resort, suddenly you're in the middle of the mountains, not another building or person in sight and the only sounds were the rushing waters of the creek. The main cabin is absolutely stunning. Beautifully decorated, very comfortable. My boys went crazy for the game cabin. They played and played down there. That is when they weren't going up and down the trail to the amazing waterfall on the property. Again, I expected a little cascade since you can't tell how big the falls are from the photo. It's got to be 20+ feet high! We even rock rappelled with the rope that is tied about half-way up the trail. Truly, owners Mike and Elaina Griffen could post 50 more equally beautiful photos on this place. Speaking of the Griffens, one of my sons turned the car on to retrieve a CD (to use in the stereo system around the hot tub) and forgot to turn the car back off. I emailed the Griffens for a recommendation of a garage to call in the area. Instead, Mike drives out immediately with a charger and gets us charged and ready for our plans the next day. Even though I know that was probably inconvenient, Elaina assured me it was no problem and they were happy to help. Clearly, we enjoyed our stay. The cabin and surroundings are even better than described and Mike and Elaina made sure our time at the cabin was all we hoped. We can't wait to come back during rafting/tubing season.

Words can not describe this cabin..... But if I was going to describe it, two words AWE-SOME! When you walk into the cabin you will be overwhelmed with a sense of comfort and warmth from the decor and atmosphere it puts off. I had an amazing time with my loved ones, listening to the creek and hiking to the water fall was so relaxing during the day then at night was when the real fun started when we went over to the gameroom which is out of this world! This cabin is great for everyone in the family! *high pitched voice* AMAZZZZING!

We are VRBOer's and we have to say this one is a gem. Three nights were just not enough. The gameroom is a lot of fun, and provides a nice gathering place. The cabin and gameroom were both very well kept and excellent attention to the decor. My nine year old daughter had a time exploring around the creek. We will be back Mike and Elaine, Thank you. My wife and I usually take a trip each year where we rent a vacation home and this has been the best place we have ever stayed. Very comfortable with every ammenity you could imagine. It gave us privacy, yet it was close enough to town where a major expedition was not required to go get groceries. The people we met in the Andrews/Murphy area were very friendly. Best part of the stay was opening the windows and letting the "babbling brook" lull us to sleep each night. Don't forget to bring some CD's or an mp3 player so you can enjoy the sound system in the party cabin while shooting pool and drinking cold ones with your friends. You will not be disappointed. I would like to go back!

My husband came home for R&R from Afghanistan and we found this place to be a really nice getaway for us and our 2 year old daughter. My daughter still talks about the 'old cabin' as she calls it. She loved playing by/in the creek and we all enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub! It took us away from our every day life. We could not believe how big the cabin is! Plus the game room cabin had bunk beds and a full bath. I will keep this cabin in mind for a family/friends get together as it would be perfect and would accommodate a large group of people at a very reasonable cost. Mike and Elaina were very kind and helped out with whatever we needed.

We had high expectations for this property and it exceeded them in a big way. The property can not be beat; there are plenty of cabins in this area but can't begin to compare with Wilderness Resort. As soon as you pull in the drive you can feel the tranquility; however if you are there for more than relaxation the game room has plenty to offer. The cabin was clean and we felt very comfortable there. We would like to come back...soon!

My family absolutely loved our stay here! This is a new "cabin", but it is actually much more than that... It is exquisitely decorated and it even has a building next door that has been transformed to an awesome game room. Our kids loved it-actually we all did. There is a rushing creek in front of the house that you can hear from the front porch...with baby trout! We especially enjoyed the short hike to Cover Falls which was beautiful. We really only left the property for food! Needless to say we will definitely be booking again. :)

I can not say enough about this cabin or the owners, I have stayed in both of their cabins now and have been awed both times by their helpfulness and kindness. This cabin is immaculate!! Truly breathtaking veiws and in the heart of the Smokey Mountains. You won't have a hard time settling in here, listening to the babbling creek and birds from the front porch force you into a mode of relaxation and serenity. The short hike to the waterfall is AMAZING! Soothing your stress away in the jacuzzi under the stars, this cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway, or bring the kids and they will fall in love with the game room! We have fallen in love with this cabin and can't imagine that you won't either! You won't be disappointed VRBO'ers with this one! We can't wait to go back! My husband and I stayed at this cabin for a week. What a dream vacation! If you're looking for an absolutely AMAZING place to stay this is it! Not only is it very private, but you have beautiful waterfalls towards the back of the property, a lovely stream, a fire pit, beautiful trees (I could go on forever) No matter what the weather, this place is enjoyable. Although it's in a private area...it's by no means far from town. It only took minutes to get to the store if we needed something. (like marshmallows for the fire!) The owners of this cabin are very nice too and you couldn't find more honest people to rent from. All in all, we enjoyed how spacious the cabin is and how accommodating it was. It really has everything, all you need to bring is food and yourself!!
