Comfy Cabin is conveniently located off Highway 108 in Tuolumne County, CA, in the lovely vacation home community of Cold Springs. In the Stanislaus National Forest area of the Sierra Mountains, at an elevation of 5,500 feet, it's a quiet, cozy getaway surrounded by pines, cedars, and clean mountain air. About 8 minutes from Pinecrest Lake and 20 minutes from Dodge Ridge Ski Resort, this charming retreat is fun year round.
This very clean two-level, 3-bedroom, 2-bath cabin on 1/3 acre will sleep 8 people, all on quality mattresses. It is fully furnished with all the amenities, including electric heat, a beautiful gas wood stove, and laundry facilities. Comfy Cabin features an open-beam ceiling, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious deck, and ample parking for 2 vehicles.
Comfy Cabin's windows are large and let in lots of natural light. Sit and chat in front of the wood stove while watching the snow fall, enjoy the forest sights and sounds from one of the redwood decks as you read or bar-b-que, or take a walk to Cold Springs Market. This peaceful residential area is perfect for strolling or riding bikes. Take advantage of the many year-round recreational opportunities. Activities include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding, fishing, swimming, boating, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, spelunking, and hunting. Various mountain lakes, wilderness areas (Emigrant, Iceberg-Carson, and Hoover), Yosemite National Park, and the historic gold mining towns of Twain Harte, Columbia, Sonora, and Jamestown nearby complete this beautiful alpine region. These towns offer quaint shops, antiques, gold panning, museums, and even a stage coach ride!
Pinecrest Lake is a gorgeous fishing and swimming lake. It offers a marina with rental boats, 3 swimming beaches, hikes, rental bikes, an art gallery, a beach-side snack shack, a coffee kiosk, restaurant, sports store for fishing gear, etc., and a small store with groceries and hardware items all in a rustic setting. And if you decide a movie is in order for the evening, Pinecrest Lake has an outdoor ampitheatre (set next to the lake) which shows first-run movies after sunset. The kids love that!
If you're interested in some good restaurants, about 3 minutes away you'll find La Morenita for wonderful Mexican food or Mia's which serves great gourmet pizzas and pasta dishes. Eight minutes away at Pinecrest Lake, you'll find a charming landmark rustic restaurant called The Steam Donkey. Fifteen minutes down the hill to Mi Wuk, you'll find Andy's Mountain Grill and Deli for some of the best sandwiches anywhere. Andy is known for making his own burger buns for his gourmet burgers and other creative sandwiches, freshly-cut potatoes for his fries, great garlic ketchup, a variety of fabulous homemade cinnamon rolls, and imported beverages. Up the hill about ten minutes away, you'll find Strawberry Lodge for a meal and a game of pool. The restaurant has a view of a beautiful stream (a Stanislaus River tributary), and the old-time general store is across the street. Most of these places offer outdoor seating also. Great food tastes even better in such beautiful forest settings.

About the owner: As a family, we loved vacationing in this area of the Sierras, especially near Pinecrest Lake. As we continued spending more time there enjoying the winter snow and summer swimming, hiking, and fishing, we decided it was time to invest in our own place. The high Sierras are spectacular, the sky is as blue as it gets, and there are so many activities to choose from! (Click on our slide show.) We hope you'll enjoy it too and will want to return often. ~Peter and Barbara, Hughson, CA
