2000 S.F. 2 story Pueblo-style house just 5 miles from Taos Plaza, nestled next to 100,00 acres of Carson National Forest, with a hiking trail out the back door. Designed and built by architect/owner, it has a pond with waterfall and walled courtyard, all rooms have panoramic mountain & forest views.
Outside covered dining area with gas BBQ grill and campfire ring. Great room with gas fireplace, cozy leather furniture and views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Log vigas (hand hewn beams), radiant heat under tile and wood floors. Hand-crafted furniture & pine cabinets (made by owners' architect son) an open gourmet kitchen (gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, etc) stainless appliances and granite counters.
Main floor bedroom (queen bed & courtyard access). Adjoining bathroom with large walk-in shower. Upstairs: 2 master-sized bedrooms with memory foam king bed and 2 twin bed mattresses, gas fireplaces, private decks, bath with large 6' soaking tub with mountainn view and invigorating Mr. Steam shower.

Why the Owner Chose Taos
With a career in residential architecture and a wife with a fine arts background it was only natural to build our own family retreat house in Taos, New Mexico. When we found an ideally located property just 3 miles from Taos and backing up to 100,000 acres of Carson National forest we were sold. Our entire family (including my cabinet/ furniture builder architect son, and daughter in the lighting business, built, added on and made this retreat a special place that we are priveledged to share with others who can appreciate its beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Fantastic views from every room, peace and quiet, lots of birds, relaxing covered patio with BBQ grill and fire pit for roasting marshmallows on cool summer or fall evenings, gourmet kitchen, and pond with waterfall. Two desk areas with wireless internet and free national calling or faxing. You can stay in touch with your business and still getaway from the hustle of city life at this restful retreat. New meditation hut on the property will be available soon to those interested.

Incredible home David and Meredith. My family was fortunate enough to stay at the beautiful and private 'Retreat at Rancho Canyon' over Mother's Day weekend. My mother and father were visitng from the midwest and we thought we'd treat them to a get-away while they were visiting Colorado, they we're thrilled with the accomodations. The home and the property could not be better outlined in the description, great views from every room, thoughtful space planning and decorating..the list goes on. It is evident when you enter the courtyard patio that David has put his architectural background to great use in the design and layout of each aspect of the home, and he, along with his wife Meredith and son Jordan, have done an excellent job decorating, designing and building furniture to compliment the SW theme. From the outdoor pond, waterfall, and firepit to the cozy living room and wonderful sleeping quarters the attention to detail is impeccable. It seems they have thought through every piece of this dream home, even going so far as to provide recycling, composting, and water saving measures to ensure the enjoyment of resources for all those that follow in our path. I promise, you will not be dissappointed during your stay. The location of the home is also very convenient to town yet isolated enough to feel like you are in a secluded forest. Just 5 miles from Taos and all of the shops and museums it is the perfect answer to those looking for serenity, yet wanting to be close enough the experience the restaurants, museums, the pueblo, and the unique 'flavor' of the southwest. Thanks again David and Meredith for sharing your wonderful home with us, we look forward to another visit in the future.
