Peace & Quiet on Plum Island
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Plum Island
Location, location, location! It is in one of the best locations on the island, very close to the Basin. I love to walk the beach and a beach walk access is right in front of the house. Very quiet and private, no crowds, no traffic, great neighbors, and lots of open space, without lots of houses on top of each other.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There are several acres of dunes off the deck, facing S/SW, featuring fabulous views of the marshes and the Newburyport skyline, and clear, unobstructed sunsets and stars. A great water view of the Tidal Basin is visible from the front windows, and this location has a very short walk to the main beaches.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service invites you to visit Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, near Newburyport, Massachusetts. The refuge occupies in part, the southern three-fourths of Plum Island.
Mad Martha's Beach Cafe, located on Northern Boulevard. The walls are covered with hand-painted scenes, the counter with customer-painted tiles. Breakfast & lunch include homemade and unusual omelets.
Located on the Plum Island Turnpike, on the way to and from Plum Island, markets Bob's fresh catch and golden-fried seafood, homemade crab cakes and chowders, ice cream, and more.
Plum Island Soap Company, at 205 Northern Boulevard, make all of their own products and you will likely find them mixing up a batch of soap, butters, or any one of our heavenly body products.
The Captain's Fishing Parties leave from the very end of Northern Boulevard on Plum Island, and offer half day trips for bluefish or mackerel and longer trips for flounder. You rarely come home empty!
Located at the gateway to one of the country’s most productive, year-round, wildlife viewing areas—the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and the Plum Island estuary.

Thank you! I experienced the most wonderful and relaxing week ever. Your property nestled in this quiet neighborhood was just perfect. The views were extraordinary, the peace so serene, and and the accomodations were just lovely and immaculate. I didn't think it could top my stay here from last year. It is now my restful home away from home. See you in the spring or sooner if any time gets freed up! Thank you again! -Terry

very comfortable property, clean and extremely well provisioned. extras such as bath products, good towels, a drawer full of spices. the living room is bigger than it appears from the photos with room for a chair and a half [single sofa bed] as well as the couch shown, a small desk and chair for a computer, and small dining table [also shown]. because of the high ceilings and fans it feels airy. the fabulous beach is, in fact, a five or six minute walk away [entry opposite mad martha's cafe].never many people when i was there. the only thing that is different from the photos is that the neighbors are extremely close but because there is open space beyond the deck and the views of the houses there more distant, it works fairly well. despite the density of the houses all around, all was quiet. people are friendly and the entire place takes on that island feel. the owner was cooperative and helpful. worth mentioning a few miles away is a wonderful farm, grocery, butchery, nursery -- tendercrop.

This cottage is snug, comfortable and efficient. It had everything one could need for a great vacation; a nice location; friendly kitchen, comfy bed and linens; fluffy towels, cable TV and WIFI; great books and marvelous selection of music; plus movies and a deck. The beach was a short, pleasant walk away and if only I'd had a kayak as the Basin was right there. My dogs were also able to have a great time on the beach (Sept on) so it was extra special. Had a super vacation; looking forward to a return!

The cottage was very well organized and stocked with everything we could need...lots of big, comfortable towels, lots of movie & TV channels, super comfortable bed/bedding and so many convenient items in the kitchen cupboards and fridge. We really appreciated having the use of WiFi. We are hoping that we will be able to come again next summer.
