Rained the entire weekend at Spirit Dancer but our family had the very best weekend in years! Great fun in a spectacular house. Watched deer feeding and a mother black bear and her two yearling cubs in the meadow directly below the cabin. We will be back and it should be even better with a little sun.

We came up to this amazing lodge for New Years 2011 and had an amazing time. We came with a group of 12, 6 couples, and we were more than comfortable and completely charmed by the lodge and the scenic surroundings. It has quite a lot of character! We hope to enjoy many more weekends here. My only criticism would be that the stereo equipment is a bit antiquated.

I grew up in and lived in neighboring Orange County, VA, for 36 years. But I've been in California for the past 29 years. This is my second year at the Lodge as part of an annual "girls' weekend," and I'll happily be returning in 2011--and beyond! It's a wonderful location for a gathering like this; and the setting is ideal for revisiting the area and provides a refreshing reminder of all the things I miss about Virginia. I highly recommend Spirit Dancer Lodge!

This is the second year that 12 "girls" from Orange County High School, Orange, VA, had their slumber party at Spirit Dancer Lodge. It is the perfect place for us and we have already made reservations for 2011. This year, in addition to having a continuous fire going in the huge stone fireplace, we also had a fire Friday night in the outdoor fireplace on the patio. We began our weekend with an informal cocktail party - the weather was beautiful. We had a visit from a neighbor's dog, Gracie, who seemd so pleased to see us. This is the perfect spot to relax, knit, read, do a jigsaw puzzle, etc. I would recommend Spirit Dancer Lodge without any reservations. The owners are super.

My husband and I rented Spirit Dancer Lodge with 10 of our closest friends for a weekend (December 4-6, 2009) and we had an incredible time! We were fortunate to witness the season's first snowstorm! The lodge and surrounding woods looked amazing blanketed in snow! We also loved spending time in the outdoor hot tub, especially while it was snowing! That was an interesting experience! Inside the lodge, the open and spacious floor plan was perfect for our large group (we never felt cramped while we spent the entire weekend indoors). We baked cookies and prepared a huge group dinner together (complete with turkey, ham, chicken, and all the sides) in the well-equipped kitchen. We had the fireplace lit and it was really nice, lounging around the fire and falling asleep in the comfy recliners. Some of our friends read books, and a group of us put together the 500-piece puzzle. We watched movies together in the den on the huge television, played ping pong, played board games, used the sauna, and really enjoyed ourselves throughout the weekend! I'm already planning with our group to return in the late spring/early summer for another weekend (or maybe even a week) so we can also enjoy the hiking trails, cooking out on the grill, and fishing. But we had a wonderful time and definitely plan to return! Thank you for renting us your beautiful home away from home! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

My wife and I, along with 4 other couples, spent last weekend here and had the best time ever! The house is large and roomy, with all the comforts of home. Everything from the large great room and the spacious kitchen to the huge game room and comfortable bedrooms made our stay one to remember. We BBQ'd on the deck every night, relaxed in the jacuzzi, and played card games on the large dining table. Everything was perfect, including the very short drive to Old Rag mountain....which is a must! Overall, a great weekend at an amazing house located in the beautiful Shenandoah Mountains.

Five adult sisters vacationed here summer '10. The home is accurately described by owners & pictures are well done. We were all very comfortable, the home is beautiful & well maintained. Lots to do in the surrounding area, (hiking, vineyards, history, etc) & owner has lots of helpful information regarding activities. We had a couple of issues initially (propane tanks empty, coffee maker inoperable), but owner was available to resolve issues. "Romantic" lighting described by owner is interpreted as "too dark" by 5 sisters vacationing without husbands :-) Great place for children. Would highly recommend this home.

If I built my dream house it would look just like the Spirit Dancer Lodge! Our group of friends left the city for a relaxing weekend in this spacious, beautiful, cozy lodge. Spirit Dancer has something for everyone: it's perfect both for outdoorsy-people as well as those who like to be pampered when they're on vacation. We absolutely recommend it! And we're already planning our next trip back.

We want to thank you for a wonderful place to call home for our Couple's Weekend. The views are outstanding and the Spirit Dancer Lodge was a perfect place to unwind after hitting some of the Wineries in the area. The only thing we would change is Cocktail Hill. Could you think about re-naming it? The view was just prefect and our friends got engaged our first night at the lodge. John and Kristie will always call Cocktail Hill-- "Proposal Hill". It really got the weekend off to a great start. They wanted their frineds to be there to witness the proposal and we caught the whole thing on video. FYI-- DO NOT GO TO GRIFFIN TAVERN!!! Our group decided to stop there for lunch. We were told (in a very rude way)-- there's no way we can serve you. I know we all used deordorant, so not sure why we were treated like that. It all worked out. Saturday night we did go to Thorton River Grille. Outstanding food and great people. A must stop while in Sperryville. Sunday our kids joined us for a hike along the White Creek Canyon Trail. Great water falls and an easy hike. Highly recommend it. We hope to come back soon.

The only reason I'm hesitant to give Spirit Dancer a great review is because I don't want anyone else to know how fantastic this place is. I went in mid November with a group of friends for my birthday party, and we were all blown away by the facilities and surroundings. The lodge is a home -- it shows in the quality of the furnishings and decorations, and the kitchen is impressively equipped. Sliding into the outdoor hot tub after a morning hike up White Oak Canyon is a pleasure not to be missed. Arrangements with Geri were smooth and trouble free. Can't wait to go back!

We spent Memorial Weekend at this wonderful house. The house was amazing and I must say that the pictures on the website does not do it justice. Everything in the house was very well kept. We loved the sauna, hot tub and ping pong table. I highly recommend this to anyone who's thinking about it. You won't be disappointed. Thank you so much for letting us rent your house.

What a wonderful vacation house! Went to Whitehall wineries for some wine tasting. On the way home, we drove by a scenic route through Shenandoah Park along Skyline Drive. BBQ dinner on the beautiful grill, hamburger, hotdogs, ribs, sausage, & cucumber salad.

We had a marvelous time at the Lodge. We hate to leave so soon! Enjoyed the hot tub & sauna, took a great hilke on the property, & just generally relaxed. The weather was surprisingly warm & sunny, despite predictions of snow & sleet. We're glad the weather forecasters were wrong! While on a hike on the property, we found the settlement. Dave thinks it might actually be a civil war camp--the rock piles look a lot like battlements & look out points very well hidden from the valley & stream bed below. Thanks for allowing us to experience the peace & luxury at the Lodge. We'd love to return someday.

Guests at lodge 11/1-11/4/04. I cannot convey how blessed we feel to have experienced such an amazing home and vacation. So many things to do, such little time! The views from Skyline Drive - incredible. The peace and beauty all around Spirit Dancer Lodge - amazing! This home is like staying at a 5-Star resort. Pristinely clean, beautiful native American decor, tons of games, amazing sound system/entertainment center that can be enjoyed from almost every room, amazing outdoor hot tub, sauna room, exercise room, trails and fishing pond and on and on and on! We felt so at home yet pampered beyond belief. There are so many sights to see in the area and especially all the trails in Shenandoah National Park that feature panoramic views and many waterfalls. We even saw a very large bear and her two cubs while driving along Skyline Drive!! We are thankful for the warm hospitality we received and the special memories that were made during our anniversary vacation at Spirit Dancer Lodge - memories that will last a lifetime. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in Spirit Dancer Lodge over New Years 2004. We came with our closest friends, and we had a spectacular time. We hiked, and explored the old ruins, and the old dirt road, had picnics on the hill-top (it was very mild weather), and really enjoyed the spectacular lodge. Thank you very much for providing us the opportunity to share your lodge. Sorry it took me so long to post this message. I thought I had done so before, but as I looked this time, I didn't see it.

We - our 14-member extended family of four siblings, our families, and our parents - spent an absolutely wonderful week at SDL June 20-26, 2004. The Lodge is most conducive to a wide variety of activities - puzzle working 'til midnight, kids playing hide-and-go-seek, screening epics such as the Lord of the Rings, huge dinners scrumptuously prepared with a plethora of kitchen utensils, gazing up at a zillion stars and satellite spotting, sitting up until 2 a.m. recounting past joys and foibles. Plus, the Lodge itself is a ceaseless wonder - so many treasures and items to examine, all very tastefully displayed. And, of course the area offers a wide variety of activities - hiking, tubing, shopping, dreaming. All in all, it was one of the best weeks our extended family ever had! Thanks, Geri!

Had a wonderful break here at Spirit Dancer Lodge. Fantastic views. Very peaceful & tranquil surroundings. No bear sightings but plenty of deer & squirrels!! Very much enjoyed the facilities especially the sauna. Children enjoyed the home movie theatre ("big" children as well!!!) Just what my parents needed before returning to the UK.

Wonderful long weekend celebrating my 70th birthday & retirement & brother's 68th. He & wife came from Seattle, his daughter's new family from Ithaca, his son's not so new family from Arllington, our daughter's from Boston, & ourselves from Arlington. Grand total of 16 in comfort & unseasonably perfect weather. Hikes to White Oak Canyon, Old Rag, & much of the property line. Also much use of ping pong, horseshoes, & hot tub, but most time in happy jabbering & admiring of the 4 month old & 2 week old. We could not have asked for a nicer place to gather, & we all appreciated the hard work that has made the place so special. The spirit has indeed infused the love exchanged during these last 3 days.

We (a group of seven friends)had a wonderful stay at the lodge. We spent our days swimming at the White Oak Canyon falls, canoeing, and a couple of us hiked Old Rag-- the top of which was so amazing to me (an icing of boulders)-- I can't believe such an incredible place is so close to home. And the house was a perfect place for us to gather -- we especially enjoyed cooking, eating, and playing games together. Usually I'm an avid camper, but the lodge has won me over to a more civilized enjoyment of the outdoors-- I got used to a cold beer, a dip in the hot tub, and relaxing in the great room after a day on the trail or river. We hope visits to the Spirit Dancer Lodge will become a tradition with our family and friends.

Our family had a wonderful time at Spirit Dancer. The facilities are wonderful, to say the least. The kids loved the game room, naturally enough, and we all enjoyed the view from the main floor, deck and spa. The biking in the nearby area is enjoyable. We spent many mornings roaming the lightly traveled, if a bit hilly country roads. The hiking in in the nearby Shenandoah National Park is beautiful as well(particuarly the Canyon/Waterfall hike). Can't say enough really....

The perfect vacation house for 2 families with 4 teenagers. The kids lived downstairs when home, hooked up the PS2 to big screen. We enjoyed the hot tub & being able to seat 9 of us at the table for meals. Living space was perfect! We made a memory each day-went to Monticello, canoed & kayaked on the River, hiked the White Oak Trail & the kids slid down the waterfalls. Also visited Luray Caverns & took bike rides. We even saw a bear on the road on the way back from waterfalls! Thanks for all the comforts of home. Just wish we had more time.

My husband and I loved our stay at Spirit Dancer Lodge. We left completely relaxed and rejuvenated. We enjoyed our long hikes on and off the trails through the magnificent forest you have on the property. Later we watched the sunset on the hill overlooking the valley - a sight and feeling we will never forget. Your lodge is beautifully furnished and we had all luxuries to pamper ourselves. We particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi late at night when we counted falling stars in a star studded sky undisturbed by city lights. The local wineries and craft fairs were a great side trip - the people are so friendly in the area. Nearby Shenendoah National Park has more activities than we had time to do, but we did get in a hike to Lewis Falls. We will highly recommend Spirit Dance Lodge to our friends and anyone else interested in a wonderful vacation. We will definitely come back.
