Located in Stinson Beach Village just 60 paces from the beach and a 5 minute stroll to town, the Little Whaler is a freshly updated Cape Cod-style house which epitomizes a healthy, casual outdoor beach lifestyle. Stroll the beach or retreat to the wind-protected deck. In addition to the main house, there is a charming and tastefully decorated guest cottage situated on a very large redwood deck stocked with furniture typical of a beach house, plus loads of attention to charming details. You're met at the gate with our very friendly red whale for instance.
Stinson Beach is a quaint beach community located approximately 40 minutes north of San Francisco. A myriad of activities exist in town and nearby. Visit google littlewhaler for details. Kick off your sandals and stroll the beach. Fly a kite, surf or skimboard, or learn to sea kayak. Wander into town and dine at one of the three exceptional restaurants. Maybe you'll get lucky and find some music happening in the afternoon or evening. Visit the bookshop, the flower shop or Al's Alleged Antiques to possibly find your next hidden treasure. Stock up a the Stinson Beach Market and have a barbeque at sunset.... or do none of the above and just relax.
Spend a day at the beach then stroll into town for a latte or glass of wine and visit the galleries and artisan shops. Drive or bicycle to Bolinas and learn what the mystery is all about. There is hiking and mountain biking on nearby Mount Tamalpais, plus the world-famous Muir Woods with its majestic redwoods is a 10 minute drive away. Point Reyes National Seashore is a dramatic national park just 35 minutes north.
And what about kid-stuff? Kids can play on the jungle gym in the fenced park downtown or frolic on the beach. Nearby Slide Ranch provides children and adults with a naturalist-approach to sustainable ranching and offers a hands-on experience with animals. The Unique Benefits at this Beach Cottage
In all humility, this property has it all and is possibly the cutest cottage in town. When we arrive, we unpack and take off our shoes. You won't need a car unless you plan to go out of town, The Little Whaler is about al fresco living. You can relax, dine and sunbathe on the deck and take a hot tub or outdoor shower at your leisure. The front gate safely locks and there is a sandbox and toys for kids. The flat screen TV is hooked up to an HD DVD and there is a surround sound system for vibrant movie experiences. The wood stove heats up the whole place and the sights and sounds of a burning fire relax you well into the evening.
3 mile long white sand beach. Surf, boogie board, sunbathe, dog friendly, tons of sand dollars.
Outdoor, indoor fine dining at decent prices. Best breakfast in Marin. Outdoor hamburger shack with Niman Ranch burgers. Yummy!
Groceries, beer, wine, liquor, fresh vegetables, meat, fish and dairy, pharmaceuticals, suntan lotion, outdoor latte stand, etc. Everything you need at reasonable prices.

My wife and I bought the Little Whaler a few years ago as a respite from San Francisco life and because our two kids went absolutely bonkers playing on Stinson Beach. We've spent a lot of time and energy trying to bring a small slice of Cape Cod to the west coast and to make the home feel cozy and inviting. We'd love to share our passion with others who like quality touches executed in a subtle manner.
