We decided on this casita based on the description, pictures, and previous reviews and our 3 night stay was delightful. It was a pleasure to have a cozy casita with a comfy bed, a living room with fireplace and a kitchen as we like to relax in the evenings after sightseeing or skiing as well as cook our own breakfasts in the morning. The Highroad Guesthouse provided us with the ability to do both. The extras included fresh flowers, great bagels from Michael's Kitchen, lovely views, and an awesome starlit sky in the evenings. Betty, the owner, was available if we needed anything like more firewood and was a delightful hostess. We hope to return again in another season to see more of the Taos area.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My fiance and I spent a few days over New Years at the Highroad guesthouse... We would both recommend it highly. The casita is well-appointed and tastefully furnished and Betty the owner was very welcoming and hospitable... She truly went out of her way to make sure we had an enjoyable visit and had everything we needed. The casita has great views of the mountains to the south and is close enough to spend evenings in the downtown area of Taos... We both hope to be back sometime.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

First and foremost, the pictures and description of the guesthouse are completely accurate. No surprises here! The guesthouse is adorable, clean, comfortable and everything you will need. The views are spectacular. Betty is wonderful and so available to help with recommendations and ideas. She also had delicious goodies waiting for us from Michael's Kitchen when we arrived. Betty has thought of everything The guesthouse is perfectly located whether you are heading to the ski valley or taking the "Highroad" to the Sanctuario and Rancho de Chimayo for a fabulous meal. Our favorite spot for breakfast was "Old Martinas Hall" Restaurant. Don't miss it. We enjoyed sitting on the patio each afternoon with salsa, chips and wine looking at the beautiful garden full of Holly Hocks after our daily excursions. The area is so quiet and secluded which made sleeping great. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at the "Highroad Guesthouse". We will be back that is for sure!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks John and Debbie for your review. Im so glad you enjoyed your stay....look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to Taos. Rgds! Betty

If you have made it to this Casita in Taos NM you need to look no further. We spent 6 glorious days in this casita with beautiful mountain views and evening skies that took you back to the days of one’s youth. Those bright starry nights of diamonds set on black velvet were just out of this world; and those were just the views! The casita is a holiday in itself so well appointed that you absolutely want for nothing. So much attention to detail has been given to this casita to include the comfortable furniture, bed and bedding … you will surely want to make Northern NM your next home …and if not just hope this place is available for your next visit. Thank You so much Betty for all your hospitality and all the valuable information about the area. You helped to make this trip one we will always remember!Owner response: Thank you Eldeana and Ken!! Hope you will make it out again and for sure keep in touch!! Betty

We were really impressed with the guest house. This was the first time we have ever stayed in a guest house as opposed to hotel and loved it. Betty made us feel very at home and provided several items for us to enjoy like coffee, home made muffins and not to mention giving us helpful insights as to what places to visit while we where there. The house was secluded and quite but within minutes from town and restaurants. Betty also provided basic staple items for us to use during our stay there and the grill on the patio was excellent so that we could cook outdoors and enjoy a view of the beautiful mountains from the patio. We would definitely stay at this guest house again on our next vacation to Taos, New Mexico.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The property was everything Betty said, and MORE! Not only was it super clean, updated, comfortable, and offered everything we needed during our stay, it also gave us a sense of security. Reasonable prices!! Betty provided fresh muffins, Starbucks coffee, green chai tea, hot chocolate, popcorn, and other items needed for cooking which I thought was a real perk! We personally loved the fireplace (wood provided which smells amazing) majestic views, comfortable beds, linens/furniture, and beautiful decor, even the ceilings are made of beautiful hardwood and had wooden beams which is not a common look in Florida. Needless to stay, we absolutely fell in love with the casita, and plan on making this an annual trip. We enjoyed hiking out at Pot Creek, Amole Canyon, Rie Grande Gorge and Taos Canyon. We loved all of the souvenier stores, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Taos Java, Taos Mercantile Co., and best place to eat was Alley Cantina!! Betty is just a gem, and we cant wait to visit her in Taos again!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The casita was every bit as charming as the photos and description. The view from the casita is pretty amazing and the location is just enough off the 'tourist road' for peace and quiet. Betty knows the shops and museums and points of interest. Thanks Betty for making us feel special. This was a really great retreat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I just came back from spending a month at the casita. It is everything it promises to be. The casita itself is very cozy and clean. The decor feels very much like home. The surrounding gardens are gorgeous, Betty cares for them diligently. The views of the mountains, the gardens, and the sunsets are very dramatic. In the summer, you can also enjoy watching the large flock of hummingbirds at the feeder from the porch. Betty is very hospitable, and very helpful. As is her trademark, there were muffins, coffee, and teas for me when I got there. I would highly recommend this casita!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house was the *perfect* romantic getaway and home base for our Taos adventures. We were greeted with fresh flowers on the kitchen table and locally grown coffee. And the pictures really don't do the house justice... it was impeccably decorated in Southwest colors and knick knacks complete with beautiful furniture, bright fresh paint, a super comfortable queen bed and a cozy living room with a scenic view and fire place. And, of course, all the of the amenities were perfect: plush linens, a clean comfortable bathroom, excellent wireless internet, TV & DVD, full kitchen and a patio with a grill. Plus, the house was a short eight-minute drive to the central plaza... but removed enough from the touristy areas to feel like an escape. It was conveniently located near or en route to everything on our itinerary. An extra kudos to the owner for being incredibly friendly, thoughtful and offering fantastic service. She was quick to answer all of our questions and customized the brochures and recommendations to our interests. We will definitely be staying here again when we return in the winter!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
