  Maxine and her penthouse condo at Windswept are renowned on Kiawah Island, and with good reason! Maxine is the consummate hostess, making answers available before her guests ever ask their questions and always ready to serve without being intrusive. The property feels like a home and probably exceeds most folks' expectations in the way of comfort and convenience. Although the condo is smaller than the photos led us to believe, my sister and I were easily able to be together without being on top of each other. The beds are luxurious, the views are gorgeous and, important to those of us who love to cook, the kitchen is better-stocked than any other rental we've experienced. Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was mostly rainy and chilly but that allowed us to stay in and relax and enjoy our homey retreat. For the first time, I didn't feel like I needed a vacation after my vacation! If you're the kind who doesn't want to go far from your vacation home, you'll find almost everything you need in the village 10 minutes away, including a high-end grocery store. For those who want to venture further afield there are countless restaurants and stores in Charleston, 30-40 minutes away and some smaller places that have their own local charm in between. Nature and the history of the South are the focal points of this area and the energy is, not unexpectedly, laid back. Maxine, you have a treasure at Windswept and you are a treasure yourself.   We have stayed at Kiawah many times, in a variety of vacation rental condos. However, we have never stayed in a more beautiful, well-kept and luxurious condo as this one. Kiawah Island is a spectacular destination no matter which property you are staying in. We have never not had wonderful time here! However, our stays have been most memorable when the property was also spectacular, and Maxine's condo certainly is that. It is a penthouse --I don't think you can be up any higher on the Island! And it is ocean-front, so you have the *best* views possible (in fact the pictures online don't do the view or the condo interior justice). The unit has been updated with meticulous attention to detail. The fixtures, fittings, furniture and finishings are contemporary and very upscale. We don't know how old the unit is, but it is very clean, looks very new and is certainly on-par with any five-star hotel room. If you have any problems during your stay, you are only a phone call away from Maxine and her property managers, and they will make 100% sure you are satisfied (we needed a new coffee maker, and it was delivered extremely quickly!) We could go on and on about how incredible the condo and our stay were, but we will simply leave it at this: we couldn't tear ourselves away, in large part because the condo was *so* nice, so we extended our stay by one day, and we are already scouring the calendar to figure out when we can stay here again!

  If you're looking for a beautiful villa with a great view of the ocean this is it! The owner is one of those rare people who wants you enjoy your stay in her beach home as much as she does. It is tastefully decorated with the best beds I've ever slept on. If you stay at 5141 Windswept you will be spoiled and come back again.I know I will.

  We just returned from a wonderful week at Kiawah. The condo was beautiful and very roomy. The view from the balcony was great and relaxing. The suggestions for dinner locations were very helpful, we tried several new places and all were wonderful. The weather was very nice and the condo location is convenient for bike rides on the beach and the many Kiawah trails.

  The condo was elegantly decorated and well equipped. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable and was perfect for entertaining larger groups. The beds were extremely comfortable! This is our new favorite vacation spot. We will definitely come back.

  Two friends joined me in a visit to Kiawah Island where we were fortunate enough to stay in this amazing villa. Every detail has been addressed in this beautifully appointed location - we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The owner went out of her way to make certain we were comfortable, and provided very helpful information about where to shop and where to dine as well as where to rent bikes, etc. The kitchen is amazing, and the beds heavenly. We didn't want to leave! We especially enjoyed sitting on the covered balcony where we could watch the beach, hear the wonderful sound of the surf and enjoy the dolphins playing off shore. What a gorgeous place!

  This Windswept Villa property is superb. Our 2 week visit was delightful. It was accurately described; superbly equipped; well maintained; clean, neat; and very comfortable. The owner provided detailed and accurate information. The beach and the Island are beyond expectations - spectacular! We'd highly recommend the property to vacationers of all ages and abilities.

  I don't usually write a review of the properties we stay on vacation in, but this listing at Kiawah is such an extraordinary property and haven to stay in, and the owner is so very helpful and hospitable, that I wanted to share my experience. I have been going to Kiawah for a number of years and stayed in a number of different condominiums, and this condominium is by far the most luxurious of them all! My teenage daughter felt like she was in her own little loft apartment upstairs, while my son couldn't believe the incredible view!! Because of the height, (which is the highest floor on the island) you could see for miles down the beach without obstruction and over the ocean from the back balcony. The bathrooms are spa-like, and the kitchen is the best stocked for cooking that I have experienced in a beach condo. The owner, Maxine, made us feel welcome and special from the moment she responded to our inquiry for rental to the time we left. Her philosophy is that you should not have to worry about anything you need on vacation, and she so charmingly makes certain this is the experience you have in her home. Thank you Maxine for a much needed break away, and a haven in which to take that break. I highly recommend this villa to anyone looking to relax and enjoy a wonderful, stress free vacation in a beautiful location.

• What a great condo!

  This was a fantastic rental. I used to live in Myrtle Beach and when you think "beach condo" this is NOT what comes to mind. First off, it's got a fabulous view--just incredible. But the real treat is the way the condo has been re-done from top to bottom with no expense or detail spared. It's very high-end, yet still maintaining that "beach" feeling, 6 floors up. No "Golden Girls" decor! As for the beach, it's a super-long stretch of hard-packed sand, which is beautiful for sunsets, sunrises (you can catch both), long walks, runs or bike rides. There are also beautiful running trails throughout the area-- often juxtaposed to one of the golf courses. We had been to the general area several times, but the owner was VERY helpful with restaurant (and other) recommendations. We'd return in a heartbeat! It was great.
