Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
I started fishing our local rivers in 1982 & immediately fell in love with them. Over the years I've fished many other areas in B.C., Oregon & California which I have also enjoyed but the rivers here have always been special for me due to the diversity of the watersheds & fish. The rivers here hold very large steelhead & salmon. It's one of the few areas in the U.S. that still has good numbers of native steelhead, fish that go over 30 lbs! After many years of fishing with friends & family I was able to move here in 2004 & become a full time guide. I love my job & really enjoy meeting people from around the world
Why the Owner Chose Forks
My day job is as a fishing guide so naturally I also wanted acquire a location for my guests to stay at while they were fishing with me.

We were two couples staying for 3 nights in this house, The Blue Heron Lodge, and we loved it. It was spacious, clean, and had a lovely setting on the river. I highly recommend this home when vacationing in the Forks area as it is close to the beaches, and within driving distance of the Hoh Rain Forest. Thanks for a great stay!

Me and my sister's family stayed at the Blue Heron in June 2010 when we visited the Olympic Peninsula. We're not fishermen -- who often lodge at the Blue Heron on fishing trips -- but we really appreciated the flair that told us this was a fisherman's lodge. Lots of cooking supplies (Belgian waffle makers galore and large saute pans), and the grill out back still had traces of rosemary and other herbs -- yum! Personally, I liked these touches. It made the place feel authentically Pacific Northwest. There are also plenty of other amenities to make the Blue Heron an ideal spot for anyone. The bedrooms are huge, the beds incredibly cozy, and the kitchen is open and spacious. The gas fireplace is a lovely accompaniment to the long, gray, hazy days of the region. And the wrap around porch and short hike to the Sol Duc are perfect for kids. My 4-year-old nephew could run and scream with excitement and not have to quiet down the way he has to at home. The design (interior and exterior) is just the right amount of style that gives a personal, inviting feel. I understand why fishermen feel like home here.

We had a great time, great view of the Sol Duc River. The big windows reminds me of the Cullen House from the movie Twilight.

The Blue Heron lodge is my favorite getaway! This is truly my home way from home. For the last 3 years I have been making frequent trips out to Forks and the Blue Heron, for fishing, hiking, sight seeing and just to relax. When I am there my cares all melt away - especially when I am sitting on the back deck overlooking the SolDuc river! The furnishings and art work not to mention the firplace create a very comfortable and relaxing environment. I appreciate the fully adorned kitchen where nothing is lacking. The grill on the back deck is perfect addition to grill up the days catch! The staff is always readily available to help with all my needs, yet they are practically invisible as they do not occupy the lodge themselves. I really enjoy having the whole place to myself during my stays.
