We have truly enjoyed getting away from our busy lifestyles and escape to our cozy mountain retreat and we know you will also REALLY enjoy this cozy mountain cabin where you can enjoy the mountains of Oregon year round. You will enjoy cozying up on the couch or rocking in the rocking chair while sitting around the warm wood stove after enjoying a day of the numerous winter activities that are close by or sitting on the back deck listening to the soft water noise from the near by Zig Zag River or take a short stroll down to the banks of the Zig Zag River to enjoy the absolutely beautiful views!
We have had many enjoyable evenings sitting around the bonfire in our back yard, enjoying the open views of the numerous stars or looking through our telescope and getting an even better look at them. Or enjoy an afternoon relaxing in the hammock reading a great book or get a game of horseshoes going!
You can truly enjoy this cabin whether you are just a couple enjoying a getaway, a family on a family getaway or two families wanting to enjoy an affordable getaway to the mountains together. The living room provides a nice cozy area whether you are sitting around watching a movie on the flat screen TV, watching the glow of the fire in the wood stove or simply enjoying each others company with a large comfortable couch, two nice leather chairs and a comfortable wood rocking chair. There is plenty of space for 6-8 people to comfortably sleep in the newly added bunk room on the log bunk beds; the master bedroom with a queen size log bed; and 4 people can comfortably sleep in the large loft where there are two queen size log futons (extra thick futon pad to make them very comfortable!). The bunk room even has a toy box with some basic kids toys.

Our cabin is situated in a very quiet area and across from national forest land and the Zig Zag River. You can enjoy riding bikes on the dirt roads or sledding along the roads in the winter or enjoyable year round walks through the national forest and along the banks of the Zig Zag River. We are just a few short minutes to the absolutely delicious and historical Zig Zag Inn Restaurant! It is a short and very easy drive to the mountain ski areas to enjoy a day of snow activities in the winter; the Alpine Slide at Ski Bowl in the summer; strolling through Government Camp or the numerous trails for hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing; or the many lakes in the area for boating, fishing and swimming.

Why the Owner Chose Mount Hood
I grew up skiing, hiking and camping on the mountain ..... I did the every Saturday & Sunday hour+ drive to and from the mountain each day with my family growing up ..... I always wished I could finish the day with a great last run then just be somewhere I could relax and enjoy the mountain rather than be in the car driving back to Portland ... this cabin truly gave that to us. We get done skiing and have such a short drive back to relaxation! We also truly enjoy getting away from the busy life of Portland but we can easily pick up Friday afternoon after work yet still be at the cabin in time to enjoy the full evening!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
We absolutely love being so close to the mountain for skiing! Makes for a very easy morning, even more so with kids (and sleeping in compared to driving from Portland area!) and a short drive to the mountains where you can easily beat the crowds on the road, get the best parking spots and be first on the slopes (or enjoy your coffee in the lodge because you are WAY ahead of the bulk of folks!). We also truly enjoy the outdoors .... our getaway is so close to Portland and very easy to get to yet it feels so far away! Whether it is winter and we are enjoying skiing/snowboarding or the summer and we are hiking or visiting the lakes, this is truly a cabin that can be enjoyed all year long with unique mountain activities available all year round!

The mountains have been a place we have truly enjoyed throughout our lives. I have grown up in Oregon and have grown up skiing the slopes of Mt. Hood and enjoying all the numerous activities there are to do year round on the mountain. As a couple and a family, the mountain is our escape from our daily busy lives - it is very close to Portland yet it feels like we are truly away. It was always our dream to have a cabin we could go to anytime. We finally realized that dream a few years ago and now we want to share that with others.
