Ormond By The Sea house description
Welcome!...to our spacious, 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch-style vacation home located on the barrier island, flanked by the ocean at one end of the street (to the east) and the intra-coastal waterway (Halifax River) at the other end (to the west)….a short walk in either direction!
Upon entering through the front door into the foyer, the formal dining room with seating for 6-8, is to the right. The “pure Florida” rattan furnishings of the family room-living room-breakfast table area are straight ahead overlooked by the 42” flat panel TV, easily viewed from every angle of this wide expanse. A pass through counter with (two) stools separates the large, fully-equipped, kitchen from the breakfast table. From small appliances, to serving accessories, to kitchen gadgets…the kitchen lacks nothing!
A full-length, hallway, shelved storage closet, housing beach toys and towels, among other necessities, leads to the Master Bedroom, which boasts a queen size bed, 36” TV, walk-in closet and private bathroom with walk-in shower.
The split plan style home puts the two additional bedrooms, including hallway and full bath, on the other side of the living area, separated by a pocket-door for privacy. The “front” bedroom with “beachy décor” is furnished with a daybed, which may be used as two twin beds (perfect for children!) or a king size bed (perfect for couples). Appropriate mattress covers, linens and blankets are available for either configuration. A full size bed and comfy “reading” chair with overhead lamp adorns the “back” bedroom. Both bedrooms include TVs, large closets, full length mirrors and lots of hooks – great for vacation wardrobe “quick changes.”
The “Florida Room” or sunroom right off the living room is comfortably furnished with a full size couch, two chairs and ottomans and a small TV, and leads to the backyard deck. With plenty of seating for all, the deck includes dining table and chairs, cushioned storage bench, hardwood chaise w/cushion, and “coffee table” with (4) Adirondack chairs…perfect for pre-dinner drinks and/or after-dinner coffee and dessert! The outdoor living area, which is also accessed by sliders behind the breakfast table, is complete with gas (barbecue) grill and chimney…perfect for chilly evenings!
An enclosed, full size laundry room (washer, dryer and utility sink) is accessed through the master bedroom bath or the two-car garage.

We stayed in this home from Dec.1,2012 to March 29,2013. This home is to personalized to be leasing, it. has family photos all thru the home. The master bedroom is the only bedroom with a true bed, one has a day bed you need to set up if you use it and return it to its daybed status before leaving, the other bedroom has a funton and it is not very comfortable. The garage is filled with personal items and takes up alot of space. You are not ALLOWED to park RVs, boats or trailers in the driveway as stated. In order to use the wireless internet we had to bring our router. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.

Owner response: In over five years of renting our vacation home, we have NEVER had dissatisfied tenants. Most haven chosen to send us written thank you notes or e-mails as opposed to posting their review. (I should have asked them to do so.) Like many/most vacation property owners, we use our property ourselves, as well as allowing friends and family to visit. There ARE photos in the home, but not an excessive display, and past tenants have commented positively and were even interested in 'who's who.' I guess it is unfortunate that our property was not the right fit for these recent tenants. It is also unfortunate that our ad, which was written with great detail and honesty was not read (or understood?) by these tenants. It clearly states that there is a daybed in the front bedroom, which has been used quite satisfactorily by both children and couples. The 'full-size bed' in the backroom is a futon frame with a FULL-SIZE mattress, quite comfortable and not-the-usual futon mattress; it is just lower than a traditional bed. Futon (not funton) is clearly stated under 'Details.' We also provided these tenants with more than 20 additional photos of the house interior, which clearly showed the interior layout and furnishings. 'Accommodation Type' and 'Details' are the headings provided by VRBO, where prompts are given. Under/next to 'Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer:' we wrote nothing. It clearly states that there is a 'concrete driveway (two car). Prior to these tenants asking about parking a large trailer, I checked with the County for them and told them Volusia County allows nothing of the sort on the driveway. You are permitted to park boats etc. in your backyard, but we have a sprinkler system and cannot agree to that. Our garage does contain personal items (cartons, i.e. Christmas decorations and one locked cabinet), however most of the items in the garage are for the enjoyment of our tenants such as, golf clubs, bicycles, a beverage refridgerator, beach coolers, and a work bench for 'tinkering' complete with hand tools, etc. The garage will STILL house two cars; we don't know what these people were trying to store. (When the sprinkler system located in the garage had an issue, our tenant would NOT permit our landscaper inside to check it....contrary to our lease agreement.) We entertained EVERY detail to which they inquired and did not charge them for the 'frozen' thermostat, for which they admittedly didn't know how to operate. Some people cannot be pleased.

Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: High Scool sweethearts, born and raised on L.I., N.Y., we migrated to the west /Gulf coast of Florida where we raised our 2 children. After almost 17 years, missing the Ocean we purchased our vacation home in Ormond by the Sea. Three years later, we migrated back to L.I. where the population swelled. An unexpected employment opportunity arose in beautiful Bucks county Pennsylvania where we now reside. Fortunately, we have retained our access to the beloved Atlantic ocean with our beautiful 'beach house' in Ormond by the Sea.
Why the Owner Chose Ormond By The Sea:
You couldn't ask for a better location in Florida, is how we see it. The central ocean coastal climate is the finest that the state has to offer, warm enough through the winter months while the cool ocean breezes through the summer months, cool it down enough to keep it comfortable. The proximity to so many of the things that bring people to Florida is another reason we chose this part of state to settle in for a vacation home. The beaches of Ormond are mostly clear and unobstructed by hotels and houses. Just a walk down the street and your on the beach to walk-shell-surf-fish-play or just relax. At home, we're close enough to hear the surf through the open windows throughout the night. Friendly people in a quiet neighborhood make things comfortable. Whether you want to play golf, fish for trophys, Bike around the neighborhood to have a picnic on the intra-coastal waterway parks, hiking/camping/boating and fishing in the beautiful Tomoka State park just a few miles away, visit the endless theme parks of Orlando, explore the wealth of history in beautiful St. Augustine, travel south to the "Treasure Coast" beaches to search for gold and silver on the shoreline, explore all that a Jacksonville has to offer...you're never bored while staying in Ormond by the Sea....so much to do and see close by.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Located on a quiet, residential street a short walk "east" to the Atlantic ocean/beach and "west" to the intra-coastal, you will find all the fun and conveniences rivaling the more expensive resort areas....restaurants, shopping, golf, tennis, surfing, world class sport fishing the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic ocean or trophy Snook, Redfish, Sea Trout, Drum, Pompano or Shrimping the Intra - Coastal /back bay. There's also the highly sought after- Large Mouth Bass in the numerous fresh water lakes-ponds and rivers (the mighty St. Johns River is only 40 mins. away). Nature parks, historical sites and of course, the world-famous Daytona Speedway!'Next door' Daytona Beach where you drive your car on the beach! There are also many possibilities for day trips - an hour away in any direction!....St. Augustine, America's oldest city to the north, with Spanish Forts and "The Fountain of Youth"; Orlando, the land of theme parks -Disney World, Universal Studios theme park and Sea World! or Mount Dora, the quaint little town (on the shores of Lake Dora) featuring major Antique and specialty shows, all to the West; Kennedy Space Center, The world famous "Surfing Capitol of Fla" Cocoa Beach, and the 'Treasure Coast' all to the south.
