Our location on the southeastern unspoiled coastline of Hawaii's Big Isle, is virtually mid-way between the attractions of both Kona and Hilo.......and with many unique places to explore along the way! We're also a scant half-hour drive to the Volcanoes National Park and Madame Pele's spectacular eruption shows. Nestled on a bluff overlooking Ninole Bay in the middle of 90 miles of pristine, undeveloped coastline, this small Polynesian style condo resort and golf course blend seamlessly into their natural tropical setting.
We are also blessed by the prevailing tradewinds, a factor which keeps our air quality fresh and clean, unlike the Kona coast, and our temperatures are also cooler both day and night! You will love to lounge on the pool deck at night and watch the night sky for falling stars, as there is no cleaner air on planet earth.
Of course, we also have the very best amenities for our guests, right here in the resort! Many of our guests choose to spend mornings with breakfast on the lanai, feeding our tame cardinals a taste of papaya or toast, then off to the pool and spa or golf or tennis until noon; touring in the afternoon, and finishing the day with a great fish BBQ on the pool deck with new friends! Some spa time, anyone?
Finally, affordability matters to everyone these days. And with airfares climbing to ridiculous levels, we've lowered our rates as low as we possibly can to attract and keep a clientele of discerning guests for all of our properties. A full house at low rates is certainly better than one half full, at our former much higher rates!

The Hut's "great room" runs the entire width of the unit, and has soaring vaulted wooden beamed ceilings, with ceiling fans in both the full sized living room and dining rooms. The full kitchen has brand new stainless steel range and over-the-range micro-hood, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and even a washer and dryer. Of course, we also stock all the small kitchen appliances you would hope for: coffee maker and grinder; blender; rice cooker; toaster, and so on.
We always strive to spoil our guests as we would wish to be, so we also stock top quality beach chairs, umbrella, mats and coolers; high thread count sheets and custom towels; and high end and comfortable furnishings.
My husband Rush and I are true, long-time locals with extensive knowledge of this area and most of the island! When our guests choose our properties, they also receive "concierge-style" unlike the level of book-n'go service clients get when they rent a property from rental management companies with 1-800 phone numbers or from out-of-state owners. We are always happy to furnish our guests with insider recommendations on best & worse restaurants, activities & attractions and our own "do not miss" list! It's all part of the "aloha spirit" which we strive to convey and which showers our business with a very high repeat and referral rate!

We purchased our first condo at Colony I at Sea Mountain way back in 2003. If you've never seen this piece of paradise, you're missing out on what most visitors agree is the last oasis and place of "Old Hawaii". Na'alehu is a quaint, former sugar plantation/beef & dairy cattle town, rich in history and little changed over the years. It has several restaurants including the "southearnmost BAR": Shaka's on Hwy 11; the new Green Sand Cafe; 2 banks, a gas station, 2 markets, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, United Methodist Church a Baptist Church, Assembly of God, and a Mormon Temple. The only traffic jams occur on Sunday with church traffic & on Rodeo days at the Rodeo Grounds, and we consider that a GOOD thing!
Yes, really, GREEN sand, formed by the volcanic eruptions eons ago and pounding ocean surf! Larger pieces are found in the gemstone "olivine", but please don't remove any sand, or risk Madame Pele's fury!
Wood Valley's Buddhist Temple is open to the public, and its surrounding green fields of coffee farms are like a scene of our Shangri-La or Nepal....don't miss this area!
If you love great coffee, don't miss a stop at Lisa & Jimmy Dacalio's "Clouds' Rest John Bull Ka'u Coffee" Stand, just north of Pahala on Hwy. 11 heading towards Volcano. Recently cited by the Travel Editor of the Los Angeles Times as the BEST coffee from ALL of the Hawaiian islands, and chosen for the exclusive Neimann-Marcus Christmas Catalog, Lisa's coffee brews are out of this world! She loves visitors and "talking story" about growing coffee!
Kula Kai Caverns, recently opened to the public, has an amazing series of huge lava tube/cave formations. Guided tours are thoughtfully fashioned by guests' physical abilities and levels of knowledge/interest in natural science and history. This is a "Don't Miss"!

This is the largest, a Polynesian bungalow with high vaulted, wood-beamed ceilings in the "Great Room". Thanks to the success and loyalty of our clientele, we were able to purchase this lovely unit for families desiring lots of space and a full kitchen with such amenities as dishwasher and washer/dryer, GREAT for long stays!

The condo is in excellent condition and fully updated. There is a slight ocean view from the Living room. This complex has excellent access to the black sand beach. The complex is located next to a golf course. I don't golf, so don't know if course is any good. The pool area is nice and has a great ocean view. This condo is about 20 minutes from the Volcano and about 1.3 hour drive to Kona and about the same to Hilo. The nearest restaurant is about a 15 minute drive. It's VERY quiet there at night and kinda remote.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

Barb, Thank you so much for the use of Turtle Hut! Very relaxing short break; so quiet! Our 6 year old LOVED seeing the turtles every morning on the black sand beach. We did a lot in the short time we had (Volcano National Park, Kona Coast, Hilo) so it was so nice to come back to a fully-equipped home after a long day rather than go back to a hotel room. Condo was so clean and had everything you could wish for. Liz did a great job and gave us some helpful information for the island! Highly recommended! Mahalo!

This was our first time staying in a condo rental. After staying here, it will not be our last. The owner was very informative and wanted us to have a good time. She gave us tips on where to shop, points of interest and restaurants. She answered every question I had and I had a lot of them. As soon as we opened the door to our rental we were pleased. There was a very comfortable, warm and homey feel to the condo. It was clean and decorated very nice. Everything was there, flashlights, pool toys, beach towels, cable tv and WiFi. I loved the big slide glass doors that opened up to the balcony. It allowed for the light and cool breeze flow inside. The Black Sand Beach was walking distance. Volcanoes National Park and The Green Sand beach were within a 30 min drive. After a full day of excursions, returning to the condo was like going home to relax. We loved our time here and communication with the owner was like talking to a friend. If we are ever blessed to return to the Big Island, this is where we want to stay.

Our stay at Turtle Hut III was a wonderful experience. The unit is very clean. It is located where you can feel the trades from the mountain passing right through it. It had all the amenities you possible need. Washer and dryer in the unit and laundry detergent. I have stayed in different units at that resort and none can compare to this unit in particular. Everything worked well. There was also an arts and craft activity bag that my 8 years old twins took to. The swimming pool and spa was well maintained. There are grills in the pool area for our use as well. I will be revisiting this area in the future and I hope this condo will be once again available to my family.

We have stayed at Colony One many times - we love it here. This trip we brought our 2 grandkids, ages 9 & 6. They loved the pool and the black sand beach, especially the turtles! Not alot of travel this time since both kids do not like car travel - rather be in the pool. As always, this is the most quiet, relaxing, real place in Hawaii. Thanks so much for the beartiful condo - it was perfect. I especially appreciated the supplies - so nice to have everything you need and enough TP, paper towels, garbage bags, etc. to last the entire stay - seems like a small thing but really helps, especially with the remoteness of Kau. Hated to leave, but we will be back. Thanks, Barb, for your wonderful hospitalitay and thanks Liz for all of you help.

Only the knowledge that I am moving into my own new house helps lessen the sadness I feel. Barb, you furnish this place with every human comfort in mind, way beyond what I usually find in my travels around the world! Even a big plasma TV! And the location of the resort is just perfect for a newcomer like me, or of course, visitors too! So much to do and see nearby that can't be found anywhere else in the world! The turtles at our beach everyday! The GREEN sand beach! Kula Kai Cave! I could go on and on, but hope that this short note conveys to your prospective guests considering a stay how truly perfect this condo is for their dream vacation in Hawaii. It's been the perfect starter home for me, and I can't thank you enough for that!

Many thanks for a wonderful time in your condo. We enjoyed the mornings on your lanai feeding the cardinals and finches, just as you said! The kids loved snorkelling with the turtles at your beautiful black sand beach every afternoon. We saw many humpback WHALES every afternoon from the pool area. What a place. We are very sad to leave and wish we had much more days to spend right here.

Mahalos for such a beautiful condo. We had a fantastic time staying here and it's difficult to say what the highlights are! We loved hearing the surf! and seeing so many stars at night here we never can see at home. This is also a very convenient location to see both the Kona and Hilo attractions and the Volcanoes National Park! Wow! That was maybe the best of all!
