Bright and Cheery Waterfront Condo Downtown—Summer and Winter!
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Victoria
Beyond a doubt it is the location that made buying Victoria Serenity Vacation Rental at Mermaid Wharf irresistible to us. We are at retirement age and here we will have all the pleasures of being in the centre with non of the hassles of traffic and parking!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We had been unsure about what living in the city would be like, but finding Mermaid Wharf changed all that!! It offers everything we want. As active outdoor people we loved its immediate access to the water for our kayaks, and it is only across the bridge from the Galloping Goose Bicycle Trail. Shera, an artist, is delighted that she will be a few minutes’ walk from all kinds of galleries, and as lover of theatre and live music we are only a couple of blocks from the Macpherson playhouse. We love walking along the Inner Harbor side because it is so alive with, boats, buskers and people having a good time. And exploring the heritage lanes and buildings around Chinatown and Bastion Square is a treat for both of us. And when we want to hang out at home, we hear no traffic noise, or noise from neighboring condos. We enjoy the fresh openness of the rooftop patio and watching the harbor activities.
Victoria has the oldest Chinatown in North America. Explore Fantan Alley and the other narrow alley ways to get a sense of how it was in the mid 1800s. Chinese grocery shops and restaurants offer a variety of exotic and standard produce and groceries.
The heart of colonial Victoria, with its heritage buildings, the first city hall, and several memorials, Bastion Square evokes the early beginnings of the town. Several restaurants offer outdoor service on the small plaza
This Museum has an outstanding First Nations exhibit of the pre-colonial culture on the coast. It also features dramatic walk through reproductions of colonial Victoria, and Natural landscapes.
For window shoppers and souvenir hounds, this is a delightfully entertaining stroll of shops and restaurants. Don't miss Trounce Alley.
These classical buildings offer guided tours of the legislature chambers and display many photographs of Victoria in its earliest days.
This remarkable cycling trail takes you throughout the Western suburbs on a route restricted to bicycles and pedestrians. It often uses old railway roadbeds to bypass cars roads and highways.
This is a wide variety of small shops around an open courtyard of a heritage building and features many shops with health related products and handcrafts.
Very popular upscale garden restaurant. With indoor restaurant, that offers outdoor service in the summertime that is a delight.
Mermaid Wharf is a small marina that offers Kayak and Canoe Rentals, Bicycle Rentals, and a dock for the little harbour ferries. Our condo building, which is right is beside the wharf, has been named after it.
Victoria's Sports and Convention Centre. It books major events, conferences and concerts and, in season the arena hosts Hockey, Basketball and Lacrosse games.
Offering live theatre since 1914, "The Mac" offers a variety of professional, community and amateur events year-round. The 772 seat McPherson Playhouse is one of the finest examples of theatres of its vintage in Canada.
Just across the blue bridge you can enjoy a stroll along the harbourside on this beautiful path.
A delightfully eclectic mix of restaurants, cafes, galleries, outdoor shops and department store. Pedestrians take priority here
An historic landmark and icon of the Victoria Inner Harbour. Fine dining, High Tea in the English Style.
Always a delightful place to visit the boats in the harbour (Tall ships moor here on occasion), the promenade is full of attractions and diversions, music and magicians and acrobats and food stalls, in the summer.
Owner's Map of Victoria
Shera and Chidakash are in love with people and with travelling. They live in the Gulf Islands near Victoria and have dedicated their lives to helping people make the changes they want in their lives and this work has culminated in a seaside retreat called Serenity by the Sea Retreat, on Galiano Island. To support guests seeking to make creative choices, Shera joins her skills as an artist, therapist and healer with the extraordinary energies of Serenity by the Sea, its waterfront and gardens. Chidakash has innate counseling skills and has created a unique style of bodywork called Expansive Body Integration. Together they offer transformational journeys in which personal transformation is an objective of the travel. This is why they are delighted that Victoria Serenity Vacation Rental and Mermaid Wharf are so close to many ways in which people can make discoveries and explore their interests and creativity.

This apartment was perfect for our family of four! It was close to everything, we had private parking, all the home comforts and it was beautiful inside. The owner paints and they have her very own gorgeous paintings on the walls. Very stylish and comfy stay with enough room for all of us. Thank you for an amazing stay! Christine and Ziv

I so enjoyed our stay in your 217 at Mermaid. The weather was very cooperative for our stay, and we only had one day of wind, and we spent that afternon at the BC Museum. We had so much fun being able to walk to just about everything, with exception of Buchart, and then it was nice to have our car. I have already recommended your condo to others, and hope those that know will call to book with you. Susan was very helpful in getting us in and arranged. Thank you again for providing to others this fantastic space to use when in Victoria.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely condo by the sea. What a great location. We were able to enjoy all the sites and sounds of beautiful downtown Victoria as well as sites further out. The town of Sydney was enjoyable, great Fish & Chips at the warf, Juan de Fuca trail was a challenge…but we did it, Coombs is a must see for those interested in a unique shopping experience. The weather could not have been better during stay. Thanks again.

Awesome place to call home for a few days in the city- perfectly centered, opportunities galore & so nice to return to a “home” at the end of the day! Especially after an adventure like on the Juan de Fuca trail…We will be bringing Canadian soil back to the U.S.! We did not fit in tea at the Empress, so we will definitely be back for more adventures! Thanks again!
