We have been to the cabin a couple of times. Each time we started planning our next trip on the drive home! The cabin is perfect for a large family, or several couples to enjoy each other's company. Plenty of private, comfortable sleeping arrangements, a great kitchen, and awsome decks to enjoy the view of the beautiful lake. Fishing is fun off the dock. Great fishing holes can be found by using a boat also! There are lots of things to do in the area... wine and antique shops, golfing, etc. We look forward to going back again in the summer of 2012!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family and I stayed at this beautiful home for our annual family vacation. It had everything we needed and more. We had a great week of swimming, shopping, we went to the Wildlife Park, and of course lots of fishing. We had a wonderful fish fry with the fish that we caught that week. The weather was beautiful. We would recommed this home to anyone, it was a relaxing stay for us. Thank you for letting us use your beautiful home. I cannot say enough about this pristine home in the woods. Unlike any other rental I've stayed in this home has it all. The owners couldn't be nicer and I'm almost shocked at how stocked the house is. I used to travel with my coffee maker, wine opener, etc., because I found that most rental houses only equip the bare minimum and what they do provide is dated and sometimes dirty, but this place is completely loaded with new appliances and incredibly clean! From a Cuisinart coffee maker to long stemmed wine glasses, to push button fireplaces for those chilly mornings in the woods, my family and I felt completely at home and pampered in this beautiful cabin. The beds are comfortable and each room is decorated tastefully. The screened in porch is the perfect place to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee in the morning. The Lake and landscaping around the house also need mentioning. So much detail and work has gone into the stone work and paths down to the water. It really does complete the serenity of this place. In town, Schoolhouse wines and the sandwich / specialty shop across the street are great attractions too. Peter, of Schoolhouse, is a lot of fun to talk to and it's a great place to hang out on a rainy day. I've stayed here the past two summers and would absolutely recommend this wonderful cabin to anyone looking for a private, serene vacation in the North Woods.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I've been coming up to Stone Lake every summer for over 30 years. Through the years our family reunions have grown and we've rented from a couple places, but none compare to Grant and Brenda's beautiful cabin. The cabin has all the comforts of home--a big open kitchen to cook and dine in, a fantastic screened in porch to relax in, along with an open deck overlooking the lake. The bedrooms are all well furnished with comfortable beds and plenty of space to move around. It's very clean, and cozy, and Grant and Brenda could not be more welcoming. It's the perfect place for a family gathering and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely continue to come back as long as they will have us!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Picture perfect vacation Sunny skies, fresh crisp air, great fishing and a fantastic lake house all have attributed for pleasant memories with family our week was blessed with. This lake home is one of the cleanest and nicest homes we have ever stayed in. Thank you for the "little extras" and sincereness. We will leave with many wonderful stories of wilderness and joyful times. For the 20+ years we have been coming to the north woods, I must say this is the best lake that I've ever been on where the fishing has been super, especially when you consider the time of the season (August). We caught fish every time we went out, keeping just enough for a fish fry one evening. Most of them were released back into the lake for future anglers. This lake home is really a gem! Fantastic Getaway We've been coming to the Stone Lake area for 30+ years, and renting for over 15. This cabin is by far the best we've stayed in or seen. It was so nice to have all the comforts of home available to us and the house itself is beautiful. Great views of Slim lake and the surrounding woods make you feel secluded from the world. Grant and Brenda couldn't be nicer or more hospitable. Thank you for opening up your home--we'll definitely be back! Beautiful home -- too nice to be called a cabin! Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grant and Brenda's lovely vacation home on Slim Lake. The house exceeded our expectations -- clean, spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. The huge screened porch (complete with subtle uplighting!) and lakeside deck were popular gathering spots for our gang, which ranged in age from 13 to 79. As noted in the description, this property would be challenging for anyone with mobility issues as there are many stairs to reach the lake. However, it was no problem for our group and, perhaps, a good way to burn calories! The private bedroom and bath in the guesthouse provide a nice option for extra seclusion. We also enjoyed the large kitchen table for game nights and the comfy, finished basement for late-night movies. We didn't have much luck fishing, but enjoyed the loons, deer and eagles we saw around the lake. It was very quiet, day and night, and the stars were amazing. This was a fabulous getaway for our family reunion of four generations. All ten of us had comfortable accommodations in the main cabin and the guest house. The lake was pristine and warm and great fun for the kids to play in. Lots of room for shallow water play. Both kids and adults had great luck fishing. It was so nice to stay in such a clean and well maintained place with the all of the conveniences of home. Don't miss Schoolhouse Wines in Stone Lake! Pick up lunch or evening munchies at The Pineknoll Country Store and walk across the street to Schoolhouse Wines for wine, martinis or bloody mary's. It's heaven! Incredible Summer Lake House for Family This was the second summer that I stayed at this cabin for a week... my family and I have had such an incredible time on both occasions. I am almost afraid to say too much about it for fear that it will book up quickly! But out of fairness to others, I will share a few comments... Not sure it can be called a "cabin"... this is really a Lake House with all of the amenities and comforts of a well appointed home inside and out. Everything is very new and clean and comfortable. Lots of space, great bedrooms, bathrooms, great kitchen, and a huge family room downstairs that we hunkered down in for movie nights and games. My kids (ages 3 and 5) LOVED sleeping in the loft upstairs... it became their little hide away with plenty of room for playing with toys on the floor. My husband and I have stayed in both large bedrooms upstairs and downstairs and they are equally great with views of the lake. Since our stay last year, the owners have added a guest house with a full bedroom and bathroom that is also very private and cozy. The beauty of this location is that it is so private... we could not believe how beautiful the approach was from the main road. The house is at the end of a mile long road that cuts through beautiful fields of wildflowers. And rarely did we pass another car or see any neighbors. Coming from LA, that was pretty incredible. And yet, if you want to pick up a few groceries or go out for a bite to eat you can find some gems a few miles away. Definitely recommend picking up some goodies at the Pine Knoll market a few miles away and then sitting down with your treats at the Schoolhouse Wine Shop next door. Amazing. Wonderful place to relax. We were thrilled with our experience at Grant and Brenda's lake house. We were looking for a secluded place to relax and fish, and their house was perfect! They did everything possible to make the house welcoming for us (including the kids). They had all of the kid "equipment" we needed which made the packing so much easier. the kitchen was well appointed and made meal preparation a treat. Everything about the house felt high-quality and clean, not like they were furnishing it for renters. We had no trouble filling our days We enjoyed the wildlife--loons, eagles and more. The "kid fishing" was tremendous. The little fish practically leapt onto our daughters' hooks. My husband also had some success with larger fish in the early mornings and evenings. The lake never felt crowded. While they were out on the lake, I was able to enjoy the beautiful deck and screened porch for reading with my glass of wine. The gas grill and fire circle made for fun family nights of burgers and s'mores. The downstairs family room was well stocked with games and movies, but we were too busy outdoors to take proper advantage. It might be helpful to know how the bedrooms/bathrooms are placed. There is a bedroom with a queen bed downstairs (walk out sliders) next to a full bath. Then the main floor has 2 bedrooms (one queen, and one with 2 twins) next to a full bath. Then there is an open loft above the main floor with 2 twins. Finally, there is a separate guest house with a queen bed and a full bath All were beautiful, but sometimes it's helpful to know the layout to plan where to put your kids. It was a fantastic week. We can't wait to go back! Recommended for: Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic GetawayDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
