This secluded getaway, we call Bullwinkle’s Bungalow, is just a one half-mile walk from the center of the historic Gold Rush town of Nevada City. You will find our artistic studio along a quite country road, set off by stonewalls, beautiful forests and mountain creeks. Walking, biking and jogging trails will connect you to miles of wildlife habitat, historic mining sites and beautiful Deer Creek Canyon.
• A 500 sq. ft. studio, quiet and cozy, with artistic touches throughout.
• Italian slate floors provide a Mediterranean atmosphere for cooking, quiet reading and socializing.
• For sleeping or naps there is a cozy loft, with one queen bed. There is also a futon couch that folds into a second double bed if needed.
• A private deck overlooks Bullwinkle Creek. A short trail leads one to beach and swim hole on Deer Creek.
• From the deck, one can access a network of trails. They meander through the woods and along the creeks and connect to local walking, jogging and biking trails.
• Free Wi-Fi access.
• Full kitchen amenities as well as linens are provided
• Less than 10 minutes walk to the historic district of Nevada City, where you will find restaurants, activities, theaters, shops and festivals.
In Nevada City, visit unique shops, art galleries, and wine tasting rooms, dine in world-class restaurants, and enjoy live music and theater. Nestled amongst a mix of cedar, pine, and an assortment of deciduous trees in the Northern Sierra Nevada Foothills, the beauty of Nevada City is second to none.
Many come just to see the fall colors explode as cooler temperatures arrive. Located within a one-hour-drive to popular ski and snow sledding areas at the higher elevations, Nevada City is a popular winter retreat as well. Spring brings fields of wildflowers and warmer weather attracts hikers, cyclists, sunbathers and nature lovers of all ages. The Yuba River is famous for its natural beauty and refreshing, clear swimming holes.
There's plenty to see and do. Enjoy events such as the Nevada City Bicycle Classic, the SYRCL Environmental Film Festival, Victorian Christmas, Constitution Day Parade, numerous farmers markets, and the 4th of July Parade.

Owner's Map of Nevada City
Bullwinkle’s bungalow is next to our family home on the land where we have resided for 30 years. We were drawn to the Sierra Nevada because of an appreciation of nature and lifestyle that celebrates the beauty of the land. For us it was the ideal place to settle and raise a family. Having spent periods of our lives traveling and living in parts of Europe and Latin America, we take great pleasure in sharing our surroundings with travelers.

A Fantastic Spot! We loved the overall ambiance Rich has created in the space. Very warm and relaxing. Can't wait for next years visit. Close enough to town and trails, we parked the car when we arrived and did not touch it until leaving 3 days later.

It was a very relaxing location close to the charming Nevada City. There is a futon on the first walk in floor with a kitchen & welcoming gas fireplace that heats the space nicely. In the loft is a bed & dresser,if your over 5" 5" i would not recommend it as the roof slopes and you rightly feel that you are in an attic. In addition if your going to the bathroom at night person the stairs leading down can be dangerous. It is quaint and I had no trouble but I can see why the listing asks for no children. The Ipod station is wonderful,no t.v.We enjoyed the selections of hispanio musica & could put our own ipod on it. It is close quarters to the owners which I did not mind, the surroundings are peaceful. You could walk to shops, dinner, coffee & a little grocery store I would recommend stopping in Grass Valley for groceries to stock up if you wanted to park & walk for the stay. No laundry but full kitchen which was greatly appreciated.Comfortable for the two of us. Jewelry shopping& cute accessories? Try Contrast

If you like nature trails and the sound of a beautiful creek to have coffee by in the morning, you will not be disappointed with this rental. The owners where so friendly and made sure everthing was comfortable for us. The closeness to Nevada City was excellent with lots of great restaurants to choose from. If you like to cook in, the bungalow was well equipped for all our needs. We would recommend this rental to any couple looking to have a relaxing, unwinding getaway. We hated to go back to Florida after our great 11 night stay!

We had 2 extremely relaxing and enjoyable nights here. Rich and Joey are the most welcoming hosts, we felt like family. There's so much to do in the area; we spent our full day at the gorgeous Yuba River, swimming in the warm water and sunning ourselves on hot rocks, smelling the pungent Sierra pines and redwoods. Nevada City is picturesque and full of fun shops to explore. Thanks, Rich and Joey, for a memorable break. We'll definitely be back.

Dear Joey and Rich,Thank you for being such gracious and accommodating hosts. We chose to sleep up on the bed in the loft. We slept like two cozy birds in a tree.We also discovered the i Pod unit on the shelf next to the little gas fireplace. We enjoy listening to music in the evening. I particularly liked the Diana Krall selections. We also enjoyed taking walks behind the bungalow and to old Nevada City without having to get into our car…We look forward to visiting again.Warmly, Phil and Gail Franklin, Humboldt County

It was a convenient oasis, close to town, right in the beautiful nature, with all questions about the place answered in a handy chart on the wall. Very gracious hosts, Rich and Joey made this a place to visit again when we are in town.

I stayed at Bullwinkle Bungaloo a couple of nights a week for a month, while I was completing a job in Nevada City. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and Rich and Joey were gracious hosts. I especially enjoyed eating meals on the hand-crafted deck over looking the creek. Steven

We stayed at Creek Side in the spring and had a wonderful time. The cottage is charming and fully equipped. We loved the natural waterfall that runs next to the cottage. Listening to the falls as we fell asleep each night was delightful. The property itself has great paths to explore and an easy trail down to the creek. The hosts were warm and welcoming and available when needed. There are many terrific restaurants and shops within an easy walk. The only problem was that we couldn't stay longer. Next time that we are in California we will definitely stay at Creek Side.
