My husband and I absolutely fell in love with this place! We stayed for a few days to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and had a hard time leaving. While packing up to head out we were actually planning for the next weekend get-a-way! The hosts are incredible! They had a sweet note with a bottle of wine for us upon arrival! The grounds are one of a kind! We enjoyed morning coffee and yoga on the main deck, had picnics in the tea house and enjoyed many walks/hikes while working up a sweat to then head to the private swimming hole near by. We loved that there was no TV - just the sound of the creek and lots of birds! It is also a short 15 minute walk to downtown Nevada City. The locals are wonderful, great shops, good eats and several tasting rooms with some really good wines! It truly is the best place to relax and spend a special weekend with someone true and dear to your heart! We will be back very soon! You won't be disappointed as it is a very unique space and tons of fun!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had planned to stay for three nights but added a fourth night instead of heading home when we found they had space, we simply didn't want to leave. This was our second stay there and both visits were similarly wonderful. The property is comfortable, charming, convenient, in a delightful setting, well maintained and quirky in the right ways. It overlooks a beautiful creek and has a porch that overlooks the steep little gorge the creek follows. While the studio is close to the owners' home we still felt we had perfect privacy since the majority of windows and the porch face away. The area is just a very short drive from the town proper. It was great to be able to spend the day exploring and the mornings and evenings relaxing, cooking a nice dinner each night. The owners are friendly and helpful. We will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone. I am not sure if it would work for someone with disabilities, but I think it might (futon on main floor, additional bed in loft - check with owners, they'll know). It is close enough to walk from downtown if you enjoy strolls. We saw a surprising number of locals walking along the road in the mornings, seemed to be the local stroll. Thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Bungalow when attending weekend events in Nevada City and Grass Valley. The Bungalow's art works were wonderful and sitting on the deck soaking in the quiet was perfect. There were brochures of hikes and restaurant menus in the Bungalow. We're vegetarians so the menus were very helpful in locating some great restaurants. I definitely would recommend this property to anyone who appreciates nature and quiet.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

After a 7500 mile road trip, guess where our favorite place was? Nevada City, California! Coming from Florida and visiting 17 states there and back, Nevada City/Grass Valley is our favorite place to stay and stay we did 33 days at the Bullwinkle bungalow. Rich and Joey are your hosts and will do there best to provide you with anything you need. They allowed us our privacy yet invited us to stuff they were doing like just hanging out at the beautiful swimming hole with all the neighbors in the evening! We truly appreciatied the full equippped kitchen when we had our "Thanksgiving in June" with our family, relaxing after a great meal on the deck listening to the peaceful creek! Yes, we had a car but didn't need it for we could walk on trails all day and never get bored. Take a walk to Nevada City(really close) and have a great meal at many of the fabulous restaurants. Super place to relax and get close to nature! Highly recommmended by these guess.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, Tamara! You and Ben made wonderful neighbors.

We stayed at this cabin for week from 5/4 thru 5/11. Both Richard and Joey were the best hosts you will come across. They were always helpful with anything we may need (yes, they did give us a high chair for our daughter!) and information about Nevada City and surrounding towns. You can walk to the town from the cabin and there are so many interesting antique stores nearby. The cabin was a paradise....there is a waterfall running next to the cabin and it is so soothing whether it is day or night! The cabin was surrounded by tall trees and had a private deck attached to it....one can stay there all day and read if you had prefer. There were so many trails around the house so we took advantage of it on most evenings. Overall we had a quiet, restful, relaxing stay at this cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car.

We attended a conference in this charming town. Rather than stay in the recommended llocations, we chose this place. Everyone was jealous. Listen to the water falls at night, right on a path of beautiful walking trails. Deck hangs right over the little creek. If you are looking for a Hyatt with big screen TV, this is not your place. True northern California charm!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Rich and Joey have created a comfy, cozy studio perfect for two or three. It is close to downtown Nevada City. Walking to dinner, theater or shopping would be possible. Our event was just a few miles away. The property has everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. The creek just below the deck is soothing to hear, and the gas fire kept us warm on the rainy evenings and mornings. I hope to be back to explore this great area more, and will make this my home-base.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A Fantastic Spot! We loved the overall ambiance Rich has created in the space. Very warm and relaxing. Can't wait for next years visit. Close enough to town and trails, we parked the car when we arrived and did not touch it until leaving 3 days later.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was a very relaxing location close to the charming Nevada City. There is a futon on the first walk in floor with a kitchen & welcoming gas fireplace that heats the space nicely. In the loft is a bed & dresser,if your over 5" 5" i would not recommend it as the roof slopes and you rightly feel that you are in an attic. In addition if your going to the bathroom at night person the stairs leading down can be dangerous. It is quaint and I had no trouble but I can see why the listing asks for no children. The Ipod station is wonderful,no t.v.We enjoyed the selections of hispanio musica & could put our own ipod on it. It is close quarters to the owners which I did not mind, the surroundings are peaceful. You could walk to shops, dinner, coffee & a little grocery store I would recommend stopping in Grass Valley for groceries to stock up if you wanted to park & walk for the stay. No laundry but full kitchen which was greatly appreciated.Comfortable for the two of us. Jewelry shopping& cute accessories? Try ContrastRecommended for: Sightseeing

If you like nature trails and the sound of a beautiful creek to have coffee by in the morning, you will not be disappointed with this rental. The owners where so friendly and made sure everthing was comfortable for us. The closeness to Nevada City was excellent with lots of great restaurants to choose from. If you like to cook in, the bungalow was well equipped for all our needs. We would recommend this rental to any couple looking to have a relaxing, unwinding getaway. We hated to go back to Florida after our great 11 night stay!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had 2 extremely relaxing and enjoyable nights here. Rich and Joey are the most welcoming hosts, we felt like family. There's so much to do in the area; we spent our full day at the gorgeous Yuba River, swimming in the warm water and sunning ourselves on hot rocks, smelling the pungent Sierra pines and redwoods. Nevada City is picturesque and full of fun shops to explore. Thanks, Rich and Joey, for a memorable break. We'll definitely be back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dear Joey and Rich,Thank you for being such gracious and accommodating hosts. We chose to sleep up on the bed in the loft. We slept like two cozy birds in a tree.We also discovered the i Pod unit on the shelf next to the little gas fireplace. We enjoy listening to music in the evening. I particularly liked the Diana Krall selections. We also enjoyed taking walks behind the bungalow and to old Nevada City without having to get into our car…We look forward to visiting again.Warmly, Phil and Gail Franklin, Humboldt CountyDid you find this review helpful? It was a convenient oasis, close to town, right in the beautiful nature, with all questions about the place answered in a handy chart on the wall. Very gracious hosts, Rich and Joey made this a place to visit again when we are in town.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed at Bullwinkle Bungaloo a couple of nights a week for a month, while I was completing a job in Nevada City. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and Rich and Joey were gracious hosts. I especially enjoyed eating meals on the hand-crafted deck over looking the creek. We stayed at Creek Side in the spring and had a wonderful time. The cottage is charming and fully equipped. We loved the natural waterfall that runs next to the cottage. Listening to the falls as we fell asleep each night was delightful. The property itself has great paths to explore and an easy trail down to the creek. The hosts were warm and welcoming and available when needed. There are many terrific restaurants and shops within an easy walk. The only problem was that we couldn't stay longer. Next time that we are in California we will definitely stay at Creek Side.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
