The title of this review says it all. Six of us stayed here for a week in June -- another couple (old friends) shared the house with us, and young adult daughters shared the apartment. All were delighted with the property, which is convenient, comfortable, and well-appointed. It is also well-managed by helpful and responsive caretakers. Evenings on the glorious terrace were wonderful, sipping good Cairanne wine and watching the small village of Gigondas climb up the hillside across the valley. The location is perfect for touring the southern Rhone, and the pool is refreshing after a day of touring. The town is friendly, has everything one needs, and is an easy stroll down the hill. Highly recommended.

Bello Vista

We loved the glorious views from the house, apartment, terraces, and swimming pool! Bello Vista is perfect for large family groups. Not only are the interiors spacious, but the gorgeous terraces and lovely swimming pool area give you additional space to relax and entertain. The house is well equipped for cooking and serving meals, or the wonderful caretaker, Judy is happy to cater a special dinner. There are innumerable day trips available to suit different tastes. Of course, the wine tasting is probably the highlight of a trip to this area, but the pastoral scenery, fascinating history, and delicious cuisine would keep even a teetotaler entertained! The photos don't show how truly beautiful this home is. We hope to visit again very soon!

2 Wonderful Weeks at Bello Visto

Bello Visto is in the old village of the hill town of Cairanne and is wonderful. My husband and I spent a week there with 2 other couples and then a week by ourselves. The villa is on 3 levels with incredible views of the valley below. Much thought has been put into the patio flowers and greenery and the roses were all in bloom! The interior is lovely and very comfortable, with all of the amenities and more. The weather (last week in May and 1st week in June) was sunny and perfect. We explored the fascinating towns nearby, including Cairanne. We ate, drank wine and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are 2 excellent restaurants in Cairanne and many in the towns around the Dentelles. Grocery shopping is nearby and convenient. I would recommend the area and the villa any day!

We all had a wonderful week! The house worked out really well for all eight of us and your caretaker,Judy, was wonderful. You have done a superb job with the house and weappreciated all of the fine touches and the well-equipped kitchen!! Theterrasse was absolutely wonderful as we watched several sunsets from thatvantage point (and drank many bottles of wine) and thought (and knew) we were in heaven.We certainly appreciated all of Judy's efforts with Pere Gérard at the Catholic church in Ste. Cécile. He was absolutely wonderful and the community welcomed us and celebrated our 30th wedding anniversay with us. Judy also did a great job catering our anniversary lunch at Bello Visto.

Your home is wonderful. I can't imagine why you aren't there all the time. We all had an absolutely awesome trip--the pictures are coming in and it just refreshes the memory enough to make us smell the smells and taste the food again. What beautiful scenery and sights. WE SPENT A WEEK IN THE APARTMENT ADJACENT TO THE HOUSE, AND FOUND IT CHARMING AND ROMANTIC. WHAT NEEDED TO BE MODERN (KITCHEN, BATH, HEAT) WAS MODERN AND WHAT NEEDED TO BE AUTHENTICALLY PROVENCAL WAS JUST AS PERFECT. WE OPENED OUR SHUTTERS TO A 180-DEGREE VIEW OF VINEYARDS, CYPRESS TREES AND WINDING ROADS THAT LED US TO WINE- TASTING EXPERIENCES, AND WE KEPT TIME BY THE CHURCH BELLS JUST ABOVE US IN THE TINY VILLAGE. WE SHOPPED AND COOKED LIKE LOCALS, THANKS TO THE BUTCHER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WALK AND THE BOULANGERIE A BLOCK FURTHER. TRUTH BE TOLD, WE HAD TO "DECIDE" EVERY MORNING WHETHER TO GO TOURING OR SIMPLY STAY AND ENJOY OUR COZY APARTMENT. (HMM. BIG CLUE THERE THAT I'M CALLING IT "OUR" APARTMENT!) WE'LL BE BACK!

We can’t thank you enough for sharing your beautiful home with us. We couldn’t have had a better time and you opened our eyes to the joys and pleasures of la vie Provencale. I’m so glad I kept a journal as it gives me pleasure to recount the fullness and bounty of each and every one of our days at Bello Visto. Sunny days, exquisite food and wine, liberating views, soft evening breezes and time to relax with friends and family all add up to what is best and most important in life. It was such fun to discover the Vaucluse on foot on our Grand Randonnee du Pays adventures. It seems every square inch of this region of France is appealing. We loved connecting with the land and slowing down enough to appreciate the beauty of the vineyards and hill villages as we ambled along. Indeed one of our favorite walks, from Cairanne to St. Roman de Malegarde, began from the front door of Bello Visto. I miss the reassuring hum of the cicadas as each day warmed up to a crescendo. We long to return.

I am happy to report that my friends and I had a wonderful time at Bello Visto last week. The weather was so wonderful it was hard to believe. We didn't even see a cloud until Friday. The house was everything we hoped it would be, so thank you for helping us to have the vacation I'd dreamed about.

Perfect setup for 2 memorable weeks with extended family, even mother-in-law in the apartment! A real indoor-outdoor feel with morning and evening meals on the panoramic terrace and relaxing in the pool. You can't beat the access to little towns nearby for finding the best coffee, bread, history, whatever...and then come back home to your little hide-a-way village.

September 18 – Oct 2, 2004We have had such a good time here in your house. It is lovely inside and the views are spectacular. We swam, we cooked, drank wine, went touring. We did everything and some days nothing! We even played Scrabble one night of the Mistral.Having such a well supplied kitchen and cookbooks added so much. We also made good use of your market days list. You have thought of everything.Many thanks for the bottle of wine on our arrival. Sept 18 – 30, 2004We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bello Visto for the last two weeks. September 4 – 18, 2004How to best describe our two wonderful weeks at Bello Visto? It was just what a complete escape should be. We saw so many historic and scenic places and experienced wonderful food, great wine, charming people, ambiance and peace – all that anyone could wish for. The beauty of the provençal countryside was overwhelming. We arrived just as the grape harvest began. The Mistral visited for a day after the only rainy day of our stay, then glorious sunshine returned. We thank you for allowing the four of us from Salem to share your lovely home!

I can’t think of a better finale to our vacation than the 3 days we’ve spent at Bello Visto. Martha and David, your generosity and warmth made this trip so memorable for Tami and I as well as the kids. It was such a treat to all be together in such a beautiful setting and share so many laughs and great food and wine. June 11 – 19, 2004Thank you for the opportunity to experience Provence in the comfort of your Bello Visto home. We drove a lot, walked a lot, ate a lot, and drank a lot (usually in that order).Your home was clean, spacious, with an excellent view and had everything, especially in the kitchen, to make us feel at home. The shopping to get what we needed was also great. We went to Carrefour (Centre Commercial Orange), which was like a Costco, to get water, soaps, books, etc…. The marché provided us with vegetables and local delights. We liked the marché at L’isle-sur-la-Sorgue the best. The one at Vaison-la-Romaine was overwhelming (but worth the experience).The sites that we enjoyed the most were Gordes, Baux-de-Provence, Orange and the Chateau de Grignan. Many of the castles provide a 2 for 1 admission if a full admission was paid at another facility.Thank you again for sharing your home. We look forward to our next visit(s).

18-28/05/2004Ten days of pure and simple relaxation -- exactly what we hoped for! And the bonus of absolutely beautiful weather. Bello Visto is very nice and comfortable – and the kitchen especially well set up. Thank you for the provisions for our arrival. Judy provided helpful introductions to the house, as well as answering quickly our emergency call our first morning when we discovered the gardener had locked our car in the garage. She found a garage key at her house and brought it right down to us.My most relaxing vacation in years. Perfect weather for the pool every day! Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bello Visto. Well situated in a quaint town with spectacular terraces from which to view the surrounding countryside! The gardens and pool are lovely and we appreciated how well appointed and equipped the house was. We’ve already recommended Bello Visto to several friends and acquaintances and hope to be back some time in the future.
