In the Salish language spoken by the Sooke first nations, A'li-Tenew means "a beautiful place." Situated one kilometer east of Sooke on one and a half acres of unspoiled woodlands with a view of the Juan de Fuca Strait and the Olympic Mountains, this property offers an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate oneself in a very special place.
The three bedroom, two bathroom house is a modern-day version of the west coast long house built by the Salish people in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Constructed of cedar and fir, its cathedral ceilings are complemented by the pine furniture, colorful rugs, and local artwork displayed throughout the house. The focal point of the house is the living room/dining room area with its open copper-faced fireplace and library collection.
The adjacent kitchen has modern appliances, generous counter space, and a pass-through to the dining area. There is a separate laundry room with washer and dryer. The two outdoor decks and secluded lawns are ideal for enjoying good company or reading in a sylvan setting.
A'li-Tenew is a five minute walk from Sooke Bay and a semi-private pebble beach. It is also the perfect location from which to explore the many parks and trails, view the abundant wildlife and natural foliage, kayak along the shoreline, whale watch, or fish the ocean and numerous rivers.
The house is available for rent year-round and has been designed and appointed for adults only. Bedrooms are furnished with queen-size beds and a maximum of six people can be accommodated. No smoking.
