The builders of this cabin are also the owners. The cabin reflects their labor of love for this cabin, the peaceful setting and the natural beauty of Moose Lake. It is a high end, 3BR, 2 bath cabin that has been finished with style and great craftsmanship. You will see all the refined finishing's throughout the home from the tiled bathrooms, the sitting bench along the windows to the lake, the stone wood fireplace that rises to the ceiling and the use of rustic wood trim work. It all comes together in a very pleasing rustic elegance. You will love the infloor heat on each level.

There are 2 bedrooms (one on each level) with a queen bed with a full bath (tile and granite) next to each BR. The 3rd bedroom has a new full size futon and is located on the lower level with easy access to the bathroom. The main level is an open floor plan with the fully equipped kitchen with island and large adjacent dining room for 8. The family room has a really nice wood fireplace, couch, love seat and 40 inch HD flat screen TV with satellite service so you can visit and entertain in style during any season. Add a huge deck with Adirondack chairs and a screened porch so you can enjoy the great outdoors while at home. You can also stay in touch with the outside world (if you wish) since we have free long distance calls and free wireless internet.

Get out and explore Moose Lake which is a very large 1,700 acre wilderness lake that offers a great escape to fish, boat, or view the abundant wildlife. All this wilderness feel but yet you are only 20 minutes from Hayward. You have a private dock for your favorite watercraft whether it is a fishing boat, pontoon, jet-ski or kayak/canoe. It is a great fishing lake with walleye, bass, pan fish and it it a Class A Muskie lake. You are close to a great ATV and snowmobile trail system.

The home is very efficient and well-insulated (what would you expect from a detailed builder?). It stays cool in the summer and warms nicely with radiant heat on all levels plus you have the wood fireplace. Wake up each morning and enjoy the sun as you face east toward the water. Escape the heat on the deck later in the day or relax and listen to the wildlife in the screen porch during the evening. There is no need to rough it at this cabin, it has all that you need and more.

It is professionally managed by a local property manager, Northwoods Compass, which manages over 30 lakefront cabins in the Hayward area. Northwoods Compass has its own website by name which provides all cabin details. They are local and full-time so that you will receive excellent service during your stay.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful place. The cabin was warm and loved the Black Bear theme and craftmanship throughout the house. We spent many hours on the large deck overlooking the water and near the fire pit at lakeside. The lake was very quiet and we caught all sorts of fish. We loved it!

Great Place!

The previous reviewer was being, in my opinion, pretty unreasonable. The gas station to dump trash does exist, and packing your own trash out, while annoying, is unfortunately fairly common in this area, and certainly not unique to this property. The dump is open a few days per week, and you can dump your trash there on the way to a dinner in town. The trail to the dock is steep, but manageable. You should ask the leasing agent if you have questions that aren't answered by photographs, or the description provided, especially if it concerns individual medical issues. The driveway is long, but it's not impossible to back down by any means, and you can launch a boat elsewhere on the lake. On to the house. The house itself is airy and cozy. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. Everything in the house exudes a quality feel. There is no A/C, but the house, especially the lower level, stays pretty cool. The deck is a good place to sit and watch the lake or wildlife (of which there is plenty) as well. The location of the house is nice and quiet, and the lake is beautiful with good fishing. There's also Louie's Landing just up the road, which is a classic up-north bar with good food. Try the fish fry. In summary, our party had few complaints about this property, and thoroughly enjoyed our week there. It's also very new, so I'd imagine it will only improve. As to the original poster's comments regarding the information that should have been disclosed... I am of the opinion that each rental property has its "quirks" that no amount of pre-disclosed information will prepare you for, until you get there. I believe that this is a great property that is getting a bad rap, since it has very few of these "quirks", and the ones it does have were overstated by the original poster. It's a great northern Wisconsin cabin that should serve your party well.

We were not told before booking that you have to haul your own trash to the dump 35 miles away. The welcome book said there was a gas station that would allow you to put your trash in their bin for a small fee. When we drove to the location ( 30 miles away ) there was no station in sight. We were not told before booking that the walk to the doc was steep and slick when wet.If any of us would of had any trouble walking ( knee or hip troubles ) we would not have been able to make the steep climb ( about 60 yards long ) from the dock back to the house without having trouble. We were not told that there was no room in the driveway to turn a boat trailer around. We had to back the boat down the drive from the road. If you are not good at backing a trailer you would have difficulty doing it. The house itself was nice and there were plenty of pots and pans and dishes. The pictures represented the house accurately. I just feel that when you spend that kind of money on a rental all that info should be provided BEFORE you book for a week.

Owner response:The cabin has medium elevation and there is a nice path down to the lake. It can get slippery when wet just like any surface. Most renters launch the boat first before going to the cabin. There is actually a large surface near the cabin to maneuver boat trailers. If you are bringing a larger boat and trailer there is a turn around area on your left before you get to the cabin. The owner constantly adds wonderful amenities to the cabin whether it is additional furniture, screen porch, new dining table, new room downstairs, fire wood, etc. We have received only positive comments from our guests.
