My friend and I booked this place, very last minute, for a girls getaway. The price and drive was reasonable. We werent sure what to expect, only having seen the pictures, but upon arrival were so pleasantly surpised and pleased! Our accomodations were awesome; the homestead was clean, quaint, cozy - just perfect. The property grounds surrounding were beautiful. From the eclectic decorations on a rooftop, to the beautiful gardens to the funky yard art. Just awesome. The owners were just as wonderful as the land they care for. And the pottery at Planet X Pottery, located on the property is just breathtaking. A master potter - i recommend you check out the pottery AS WELL as the rustic homestead. You will not be disappointed. You can pet the horse, the cat, wander the yard and various pottery galleries located on the grounds or ask John, the owner where to go for an adventure. He might point you to a mountain or.... If you're looking for a quiet getaway, with breathtaking scenery and the most comfortable beds you've ever slept in, you will find it here. Just make sure to bring plenty of food and spirits if that's what you like - the closet store is in Empire, about 14 miles from the Homestead and closes quite early. Or, if you're looking for some local's action and good conversation, you can head into the town of Gerlach for an adult beverage and some very kind locals..... They all wave as they pass you on the road. Good hospitality in the middle of the desert. What a great place. Check it out!!!
