Year Purchased: 1985
Washington State native Linda Walsh grew up on the shores of Puget Sound — and in the Tehran of the 70s. Her travels since childhood have led her to nose around the flea markets of Paris and the boutiques of New York City, and to vacation along welcoming Polynesian shores. Island life, wherever it is found, dominates her imagination and inspires her. Linda's family has a long tradition of hospitality, her mother being among the first to bring eco-tourism to Whidbey Island with the first B&B.

Sunlight Beach is one of the most stunning, peaceful locations on the convenient southend of the island. It faces west, overlooking Double Bluff, Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and Useless Bay. Sunlight Beach is perfect for birdwatching, as it abuts a nature preserve back-bay. The tides provide a wealth of beach experiences, from kayaking to finding live sand dollars and other sea treasures revealed when the water recedes. If you don't mind being attached to a house and other rentals, this is perfect. Very small kitchenette, so bring any utensils you might need, including paper plates and paper towels. Linda was extremely helpful and she will continue to do well with this rental. It's a great find at a fair price.

It's rare to find a private suite right on the beach, where you feel at one with the amazing shore landscape while still feeling pampered and luxuriant while indoors. Also close to the charming town of Langley, great for cyclists, just can't say enough about this place.

I had a fantastic experience when I stayed in Linda's lovely suite. The suite was clean, airy and well-decorated. The bed was comfy and the tub was huge! Linda had placed a basket of food for us in the fridge, which was much appreciated the next morning. The view from the little private balcony is amazing, the beach is right there! The location of the house is at the end of the street, so it is super quiet and peaceful. Linda was very friendly and accommodating and her selection of local brochures, magazines and menus proved very helpful throughout the week. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who is looking to get away, appreciates their privacy and wants to walk right out onto the beach. Not to be missed!

Beautiful Beach,gorgeous gardens and being on the end of that beautiful spit is unbelievable. I found the suite quite private. Nice to be somewhere where you feel there is privacy but at the same time you have the comfort of knowing you are not alone. much to do all around. South Whidbey is the crown jewel and Sunlight Beach Road is the best! I loved watching the ships. But in the high winds the Kite Boarders are unreal. Mecca for Kite Borders!

This suite is really nice, clean. Its perfect for a quiet and picturesque getaway on Whidbey...right on the water, views of the Olympics, Mt. Ranier and even, Seattle! The bird life was terrific.
