Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2009

Owning & managing vacation rentals is my passion.

This is my job. My houses were meticulously renovated for the vacation home experience. My work ethics are impeccable and the houses are above and beyond your average rental house.

I have traveled to Europe numerous times and feel a connection with the culture, architecture and the general feeling that European properties exude. That is why I've decorated in a French theme.

I enjoy sharing our city with others and enjoy making people feel comfortable and special. I will do my best to make your stay comfortable with no worries.

Why the Owner Chose Colorado Springs

I choose this location because of the historic nature of this area of Colorado Springs. It's called the "Old North End" where cottages intertwine with 7,000 sq. ft. mansions. The area started being built in the late 1800's but most along this historic street are early 1900's. This house was built in 1909. I was told by a neighbor that before it was ever a house (before 1909), it used to be a chicken coop for a farm that is still standing a few blocks away. No signs of it anymore though, just the old farmhouse.
It is just a few blocks to the I-25 corridor and is minutes from the city center. You can get virtually anywhere in the city within 20 minutes from this location.

I have lived in Colorado Springs for over 30 years and know the area quite well so I can give you advice or help in any area you need.

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage

This adorable cottage is 102 years old. It has been upgraded and updated. It has the original hardwood fir floors that have been restored to the original lustre. You can sit on the Victorian front porch looking at the mountains and wonder what life would have been like 100 years ago at that same spot.

I chose to decorate in a Parisian inspired decor that is light & airy with a bit of romance because after all, Paris is the "City of Romance" and my favorite city in the world.

Each piece in the cottage was thoughtfully and lovingly selected for either comfort or design. There are some antiques mixed in with the new and numerous items are from Paris or France. In the kitchen, antique dishes sit aside stainless steel appliances and crystal wine glasses.

The pièce de résistance of this property are the stunning gardens that envelope the entire corner lot. Winding paths, an antique gazebo and flower beds filled with herbs, flowers and bushes that thrive in the Colorado air. It is really breathtaking to sit on the patio in the back and enjoy the outdoors or sit in the front admiring the mountains and the city views.

Sweet as can be....

Guest: Retired RN (Minneapolis)
Date of Stay: 07/21/11 Review Submitted: 10/09/11

Two retired gals thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay! (that was all we could get in July 2011). The back yard is beautiful and the decorating inside was adorable and oh so clean. I liked all the security too; and the parking spot right outside the back door. The A/C worked good. Never got to sit on front porch as we were on the go. A very nice place, ok neighborhood and owner was very accommodating and prompt in answering questions, etc.

Charming cottage with every amenity

Guest: Gayle G. (Philadelphia, PA)
Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 07/10/11

We loved our (too) brief stay in this charming cottage. It had everything you could possibly want. The bed was truly heavenly. Everything was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking, the living and eating areas spacious and comfortable. Wifi worked great. The house is just as adorable as it looks in the pictures, The owner has a great eye for design, and the Parisian theme is handled with charming and witty attention to detail. The house was in great proximity for exploring such Colorado attractions as the Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs, and I enjoyed those very much. But I truly could have been happy just hanging out in this delightful house. I woke up early to drink (delicious) French press coffee in the lovely garden and listen to the birds, and I loved ending the day in the garden as well, with its beautiful flowers, elm tree, and view of the mountains. It was incredibly relaxing and peaceful, especially after a work conference earlier in the week. I was sorry to leave. You do need a car to get around here, but you are likely to have one traveling in Colorado. You couldn't do better than stay in this cottage on a trip to Colorado Springs. The owner was delightful as well, and a pleasure to deal with.

A wonderful place to stay in Colorado Springs!

Guest: Maggie (Houston)
Date of Stay: 06/13/11 Review Submitted: 06/27/11

We had a great stay at the cottage. The gardens were BEAUTIFUL, and the view of Pike's Peak from the yard was amazing. Location was good - easy to get to anywhere in the area. We have VRBO'd it for years and this property is one of the best we've rented. The house is comfortably furnished. Nice king sized bed with very comfy linens. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, pots and pans and utensils. Gas cooking was much appreciated. Everything in the house is just as pictured in the listing. The owner was great to deal with. Emails/phone calls/texts were all promptly and cheerfully answered. We'll rent from Karen again next time we are in Colorado Springs. Our little pups loved the place, too.

GUESTBOOK COMMENT ~ Dear Karen, Thank you so much for allowing me the pleasure of staying at your cottage. It was everything you said and more. The decor is absolutely amazing and I have never seen any other rental house cleaner than this one! The bed is so comfortable. I truly didn't want to go back to the real world when I had to leave. You are an exceptional hostess and I will recommend you to all my friends.

Parisian Cottage

Guest: Jerry (Edmond, OK)
Date of Stay: 08/30/10 Review Submitted: 09/03/10

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cottage. We had previously been in South Dakota as well as Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons before coming to the Colorado Springs area. We were hoping to have a more restful, slow-paced time in Colorado Springs - your accommodations made that plan a reality. From the comfortable bed to the relaxing living room and fully stocked kitchen, we had a great time from start to finish. We grilled chicken kabobs and corn-on-the-cob one night and salmon the next. A lot of the extras you provided were greatly appreciated - even the simply things like directions to the nearest grocery store (which we visited twice during our stay). Thank you for a wonderful place to stay during the final days of our vacation. Jerry Pectol
