Family Vacation in DC

Our family spent a wonderful week in DC (June 19-26, 2010), the condo was everything that we were looking for in a vacation rental...close to Metro, grocery, shopping & restaurants and safe for walking at night. My family along with my inlaws stayed in one condo (6 people total) and there was plenty of room for everyone to have a little space to themselves. My brother in-law and his family were also able to stay in the same building, which made "family nights" very enjoyable. The owners of the condo were very helpful and responded to any questions we had about the area. The area is a great neighborhood, very nice mix of professionals and permanent families (along with the vacationers). As with every city environment, you need to watch for the unsavory sort, but we never felt unsafe walking to and from the condo to the Metro (about 2 blocks) or anywhere else in the neighborhood. We didn't have a car, but could tell between the construction and very strict parking regulations having a car would have added an extra worry that we didn't want. With the Metro so close, that was all the transportation we needed (all the way to/from Reagan National). We also were glad that there were grocery bags (there is a small charge for bags in all the stores) and a cart in the condo for easy transport of items from the stores. The washer & dryer were a godsend, especially since our week in DC started out with temperatures in the 90s and just went up from there, being able to wash clothes during the stay was awesome! There was also a Dance Studio at the end of the block, since our daughter is a Ballerina, it was great for her to be able to take an open class so close to "home"! All in all, I can not say enough about what a great location this property was and what a perfect fit for all 6 of us, the only thing that could have made it better was a view of the monuments along the mall!! Thank you for a wonderful week in DC! We will surely look to this owner again for our next vacation in the DC area!

Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Had a great time with 4 adults in this unit. The weather was cold outside, but with the radiant floor heating it was nice and toasty inside. Easy access to the metro and shops and of course, Starbucks! Very convenient and well worth the money when you consider what you get from the hotels.

Stayed in this condo in August 2009. Felt like we were the first people to stay there- and we almost were. Condo is very well kept, comfortable and convenient to everything. Owners also provide helpful information and recs for dining, tourism. Owners live nearby and were very helpful- personally came out to the building to fix small problem with cable. Great experience staying here- well worth the money. Thanks for a great stay.

Thank you Pete and Stacy for the best vacation ever! Our family of 5 spent a week in this condo. Everything was brand new (including the condo itself, furniture, appliances, utensils, etc) and the place was immaculately clean. We were so comfortable we did not want to leave- but the weather was too nice to stay indoors. Everything we could possibly need was within 2 blocks of this condo (grocery stores, Target, gym, restaurants, the metro). After a 10-15 minute metro ride we were at the National Mall. Neighborhood felt safe - even at night. Pete and Stacy also provided a lot of valuable information and recommendations for our visit. If we ever return to DC, we would happily stay here again.
