Great gently sloped yard for sledding in the winter.
The House itself: The house is just beautiful with rustic antique wall décor like skis, snowshoes, fishing gear, and mountain art. It is light and bright and open, with lots of windows, and a sunny, private location without the traffic noise of busy streets like NORTHWOODS. Very quite a private yet only a couple miles to town.
The kitchen is knotty pine and looks rustic, made to look old and handmade. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, flatware, pots/ pans etc. and has all the modern equipment for all your cooking needs. Fridge,dishwasher,stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender, large Crock pot and a front load washer & dryer. For dining we have a huge, 3' thick log table, 10' long that can seat up to 12 adults. We also have a private beach and dock on Donner Lake where you can lay in the sun on the lounges or swim, play in the sand, rent a boat and visit the snackbar. We also have an excellent golf course, tennis courts, horseback riding , a campground and a small ski resort and sledding at the Lodge in the winter. (For Add. fees).

Great get away for the family and friends. Great location, close to town and minutes from Tahoe Donner. I like the fact that Tor is really thorough with the instructions and info on the house when you first enter. We had a great time in the snow. I would definetly recommend if your a golfer for the summer time with 2 golf coarses nearby.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My group of 3 stayed here over a long weekend. The listing photos are accurate -- we loved the openness of the common area. Although we were a small group, the cabin will easily sleep much larger parties. The cabin is very well located. Truckee has a nice state park on Donner Lake that includes an interesting museum. And it's an easy drive to Lake Tahoe. We took some wonderful hikes and enjoyed Chimney beach. The house owner was incredibly responsive to emails. I can easily recommend this cabin.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.

Another GREAT stay! We love this cabin, its so uncluttered and clean. Our 11 year old son plays soccer and there's a wonderfully groomed field - with nets!- right behind the utility company on Donner Pass Rd. He had a lot of fun practicing his foot skills. This was a very low key vacation because we'd just come back from camping for 3 days at the coast, this cabin is great for hanging out. We had one concern and I emailed the owner and the cabin phone rang within about 5 minutes of me sending the email - and it was resolved quickly. We look forward to MANY more visits, would love to come again during the winter and enjoy some snow activities.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

This vacation house was great for our family. Less than 5 minutes from Donner Lake and downtown Truckee. The house is well-kept and has all the essential accomodations and appliances you will need. Our family (8-10 people) had a wonderful time; the beach was so close and the fishing was great, great places to eat nearby, downtown Truckee is always fun, and the Tahoe-Donner recreation amenities are a plus. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, running or bicycling, or just relaxing at the lake, Donner Lake is a great area to do all of these things. The State Park side has a lot of real estate and activities, and the West End beach is always great as well. This was a great vacation for all the adults and kids. Many thanks to the property owner for allowing us to share his home for a short while.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

Our family really enjoyed our 4 night stay. Each year we end up at a different place due to cost and believe we have found a bang for our buck(s). Location is great to venture off just about anywhere for the day. We even went to Reno...to play and eat and only a 25 min drive. Kids enjoyed small sledding right next to the house. Nice neighborhood for walks and those who live there are friendly. Yes there are mountain bugs/spiders/animals but can guarantee every home has them even in the city, especially if no one is there everyday.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.
Owner response: Hi Rich, Glad to see your review. Hope you figured out that other issue. So you did like our house after all. good to hear. Great to hear you had a good time and enjoyed our cabin. We hope to hear from you and your referals again soon. Thanks so much for your appreciation and taking a minute to write your review. We truely enjoyed it. Til next time. Tor

My family( my husband and 3 young boys) and I just stayed for 5 days and really enjoyed this place! Very cute and comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped for someone like myself who loves to cook. The home was clean and tidy upon arrival and believe me, I am very picky. Love the location with all the pine trees surrounding the house too. Very affordable as well. I am making plans to return with my family again in August.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Don't go. We booked for 4 nights, but left at the 2nd night. The main reasons we left because it was bad shape and filthy. The bugs are everywhere. We asked a refund but the owner refused. Now, we are suing him.Owner response: Sorry you don't like the mountains. It's true, there are bugs, bears and many other sorts of animals there. It is the Tahoe National Forest. It is quite different from the city where you live. When you complained, I did what I could to accomidate your demands ie sent out my maintence man to check out the place and turn back on, the natural gas valve you mistakenly turned off. I was billed $80 for that service call but didn't charge you. It is very difficult for us as vacation home owners to accomidate people not accustomed to the forests and the natural wildlife. Next time you visit the mountains you may want to consider renting a room at the Hyatt or some such hotel. It'll be expensive but probably more suitable for you. Not so rustic and natural. Good luck.

About the owner: We've owned and rented to vacationers since Dec 2003. We live in the east bay, Walnut Creek and love vacationing in beautiful Tahoe.
Why the Owner Chose Truckee:
We chose Tahoe Donner due to it's beauty & easy access to everything ie, skiing, lake, fishing & golf. It's only 2 mi to Hwy 80 and Reno is very close. Located only a 2-3 hr drive from the SF bay area. We love it so much we now have another house in the neighborhood. 4-6 bdrm & 3-4 bath. vrbo # 273183 Sleeps too many! Ha
