The view from the condo's front window. Surfing areas at the reef.
Location: Kaaawa, North Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA (30 Miles from Honolulu)
Accommodations: Condominium, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 3-5)
This beautiful condominium is located in the Makaua Village complex in Kaaawa on the windward coast of Oahu, Hawaii. The complex sits between the sharp-ridged Koolau mountains and the blue Pacific Ocean. There is no other resort/vacation/living location as beautifully-situated as this in Hawaii. The ocean is located across the street from the complex. There is nothing else on the ocean side of the street to obscure your view since the ocean is located just a few feet from the road.
There is a beautiful view of the ocean at all times from the condo's picture window, which slides open for a glassless view and ocean breeze. Located about 30 miles from bustling Honolulu, this is a world apart from the rest of Oahu--- even from the North Shore. Yet, Honolulu can be reached by "The Bus" which stops frequently right in front of the complex. Tenants in the past have commuted to work from the condo to most areas of Oahu with little difficulty.
"Downtown" Kaaawa offers a gas station, 7-11, Post Office, BBQ restaurant and oceanfront park. Right next to Makaua Village is the world-famous restaurant, the Crouching Lion Inn and gift shop. This is named after the Crouching Lion rock formation which looms in the mountains directly above the complex is is clearly visible. A short, 30 minute hike from the complexes parking lot will take you right up to the "lion".
Right around the bend from Makaua Village is the beautiful Kahana Bay and Kahana Stream, the largest river on Oahu. Both the bay and stream are unexcelled for kayaking. The bay's long crescent beach is perfect for beachcombing or barbecuing at its adjoining park. There is also a boat ramp at the bay.
Nearby are numerous "Mom and Pop" grocery and variety stores. The nearest supermarket is about five miles north or eight miles south. Hawaii's largest tourist attraction, Polynesian Cultural Center, is located eight miles north at Laie. The Kualoa Ranch Visitor's Center is located three miles south and offers wagon rides, gift shop and restaurant.
It is located right across the street from the Kualoa Regional Park with Chinaman's at island just offshore and an ancient Hawaiian fishpond on the grounds. This large, grassy, oceanfront park offers beautiful views, BBQ and picnicking.
If you cant live without a shopping mall, the closest one is Windward Mall, 10 miles south in "busy" Kaneohe. Kaneohe offers many restaurants and stores without having to travel to Honolulu.
There are surfing beaches right off shore at the reef. Also, the North Shore surfing beaches are just a few miles north-- Banzai Pipeline, Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, etc.
Just past Waimea Bay is the quaint town of Haleiwa--- a great place for gift shopping, restaurants and shave ice.
I better stop now--- there is jut too much to offer at this paradise.
