Awesome home away from home in Maggie Valley NC

The cabin was clean and very well equipped; all linens, towels, pots, pans and wine glasses. The porch overlooked a beautiful stream. The owners made excellent recommendations for dining and activities. We will tell our friends to visit, that is how much we liked it and we are planning on returning ourselves.

Your 'New' Charleston friends

Guest: David J.
Date of Stay: 09/23/11 Review Submitted: 10/13/11

Your cabin on a creek provided a serenity we were not expecting. The views were wonderful from all the deck levels outside and the multiple levels inside. It was made all the more 'homey' with your decor and the wonderful surprise of the cookies and wine. The fireplace added just the right amount of warmth in very short order and helped us enjoy the spaciousness of the 'home' even more. Our son had to be 'encouraged' to pry himself from the rocking chairs on the porch so that we could all be together for our conversation time and meals aided by the well stocked kitchen. Our short stay was blessed by your kindness and hospitality and made it all the harder to depart. We all hope to see you the next time we come your way, and look forward to offering you the same hospitality when you visit Charleston. If you could find us a practice hall, we might be able to encourage the whole choir to come your way. Everything you advertised was there and more. Thanks from all of us for your readiness to help in all things.

Owner response:Dear Charleston Guest, Thank you for your wonderful review. We have always had a lot of wonderful guest from the Charleston area and look forward to sharing our "MOUNTAIN HOSPITALITY" with our Coastal friends. We look forward to seeing you again and any and all of your friends that you continue to send our way. Tom & Sue

This is our second time staying at Tom & Sue's house. What a beautiful house, its very clean and well stock with everything you would need including Starbucks coffee.Sue had baked cookies and left them in the cookie jar for us. Along with a bottle of wine for their tenth year, what a nice surprise. Tom is so wonderful to work with and accomodated our needs. The house will accomodate eight people nicely with two full bathrooms. The hot tub outside is aways very clean and it so relaxing to go out there after a long day after enjoying the sights. Tom is very helpful on telling you were the supermarket, and great places to eat are. I highly recommend this house to anyone who enjoys getting more for their money because you won't be treated or taken care of like this from any where else.

Owner response:Reviews like this make us smile, and continue to work harder to be sure that first time guests, and repeaters, have a stay with us that exceeds their expectations. Each of our cabins are completely equipped because we want our guests to feel as though they are 'home'-that after a day of adventure, they can return to the cabin and relax. We traveled from the United Kingdom to stay in this cabin in Maggie Valley, and we are soooooo glad that we did. What a find on the internet. The cabin is beautiful, and so well looked after and cared for. It had everything we could have needed provided for us, from store cupboard items to toilet roll! It was as clean as we could have wished for, and obviously Tom ans Sue love looking after their properties and it shows. We have stayed in lots of rental properties over the years and this is by far the most clean taken care of and stocked one, we loved our time in Maggie Valley and hope to return some time. Tom and Sue are a pleasure to deal with, and even supplied home made chocolate chip cookies, which goes way beyond the call of duty.

Our stay at Creek 'N Woods II was one of the most relaxing vacations EVER!!! Set in a wooded residential area, it was quiet and homey. Such care had been taken to make the cabin special!! The cabin was fantastic with everything down to the coffee creamer!! The owners went above and beyond when we had to call for something. Sleeping with the creek outside was more than peaceful and lulled us to sleep each night. We can't say enough about how much we loved our stay there!! As it stands right now, we're going to make it an annual thing!!!!

RELAXING

When we arrived we fell in love with the house and its surrondings. Tom was very helpful with suggestions about where to eat, get groceries, and places to visit. The cabin was very clean, well stocked, and it just seemed like home. Sue had made cookies and left a bottle of wine. The back deck was so relaxing with the sound of the creek running. I wish I could stay here forever. Thanks to Tom and Sue for a wonderful stay.

Family Fun

We have just returned from a 5 day stay at Creek ' N Woods II. If you are looking for your "home away from home" then just go and spend some time at Tom and Sue's cabin. We couldn't have stayed in a better place. Tom and Sue are so gracious and have provided everything you would possibly need -- except the clothes you bring. They met us at the fire station and led us up to the cabin. There we had home made chocolate chip cookies waiting for us and a personal tour thru the cabin. Everything was even better than the posting on the web site. I have used VRBO for the past 7 years and by far this is the BEST RENTAL that we have stayed in. Just give Tom and Sue a call and they will accomadate you with a delightful "home away from home". If you have small children be sure to ride over to Cherokee and let the kids wade and play in the river (creek) in the local park -- lots of good, free fun for both kids and adults alike.

6 Years with Creek 'n Woods II

Guest: Rev. Steve K.
Date of Stay: 06/07/11 Review Submitted: 06/15/11

My conference delegates and I have been staying at Creek 'n Woods II for the past 6 years. That, all by itself, says a lot. Tom & Sue run an first class establishment, with outstanding perks that go way beyond the usual. This year, upon arrival, we found not only a spotless, well-maintained cabin, but also a bottle of wine, a cookie jar filled with homemade cookies, and a freshly baked cake! These things, combined with a beautiful setting, the great deck, porches, hottub and babbling brook, make for a peaceful and comfortable experience unrivaled anywhere else. I give a 5 star ratings in every category, because I honestly don't know how it could be done better. Already booked next June's stay!

We like this cabin so well, I and my friends have been returning to it twice a year (spring, fall) going on 7 years now. The relationship we have with Tom and Sue, we feel like extended family. We've never had a complaint about the accommodations. The location lends itself to one feeling rested and relaxed while here. We like to dine in and cook some of our own meals, and find the kitchen well equipped for anything we want to try. This cabin is the perfect example of the type of place I'd love to retire to.

Our 12th.visit to Creek 'n Woods II

Guest: Marilyn S. Jones
Date of Stay: 09/30/10 Review Submitted: 02/17/11

Creek 'n Woods II for our numerous trips has been quite pleasant. It is peaceful in the cabin as well as outside on any of the decks. We (there are 4 of us)love listening to the rushing mountain stream just a few yards from the large picnic table on the spacious shaded porch (PERFECT spot for board games or poker or grab a rocking chair and take a nap!). The cabin interior as well as the exterior, is immaculately clean. As the four of us love cooking together, the open floor plan of the kitchen is easy to work in. The cabinets are well stocked with everything we need to prepare anything from hors d'oeuvres to soup, salad & sandwiches to a gourmet meal. The bedrooms are cozy and spotless; beds comfortable with plenty of extra blankets for those crisp mountain nights. The bathrooms have plenty of towels as well as extras for the hot tub. The washer & dryer units are an added benefit. Love the fireplace and atmosphere of the great room. The cabin's amenities lack nothing, but theREAL pleasure of a visit to Creek 'n Woods lies in thewarmth and graciously welcoming attitudes of Tom & Sue. From our first visit as total strangers we were made to feel like old friends...family, even. Their hospitality is second to none.(Don't EVEN get me started on their delicious home baked chocolate chip cookies and had written note of welcome. Could one ask for a better "Hi! We are glad you are here again.") Simply read the cabin's guest book for more first hand accounts, but I tell you this...pack a lunch! You won't be able to read all the notes from satisfied guest in one sitting. Tom and Sue are charming hosts, relaxed and fun "inn keepers" who make sure everyone has a wonderful visit. They are the secret and the heart of Creek 'n Woods' repeat successes. Sincerely, Marilyn S. Jones (12 time visitor)

Over the last nine years my wife and I and some of our family have stayed at all of the cabins except the very large one. We have never had one complaint about the accomodations or the service. These are by far the cleanest and most meticulously cared for cabins we have ever rented. All cabins really give the outdoor feeling and have great ammenities.

We found this gem on line and rediscovered how to relax with kids. The owners have thought of all the details for you so all you need to do is enjoy your loved ones in one of the most beautiful places in the mountains of North Carolina. We especially enjoyed the family games and books as well as sitting in the hot tub with the sound of water babbling in the creek by the home. We have been back two other times and enjoyed it more and more each time.We also stayed at Creek 'n Woods IV when our group was too big for this home. Thank you Tom and Sue for some wonderful memories with our family.

The Perfect Vacation at Creek'nWoodsII

Guest: Whaley Bunch (Zebulon, NC, USA)
Date of Stay: 11/01/07 Review Submitted: 12/19/07

My husband and I desired to have a family vacation in the mountains for Thanksgiving week and we wanted our cabin to meet several needs: room for 7 people from 3 years to 80 years old, a hot tub outside, a creek on the property, views, privacy, local streams for fly fishing, and a warm, cabin atmosphere. Creen'nWoods II met all these requirements and more! The owners greeted us at the cabin and answered any questions we had. We also found warm, homemade cookies and a welcome note on the kitchen counter along with a weeks supply of Starbuck's coffee. We settled in with plenty of room and privacy and enjoyed the ultimate vacation that we had hoped for. Listening to the creek while rocking on the porch was euphoric, relaxing in the hot tub while it snowed was exciting, and enjoying the "cabin" feel of the cabin made it hard to leave the cabin and take advantage of all that Maggie Valley has to offer. We did enjoy the area though with Ghost Town nearby, Cherokee only 30 minutes away, horseback riding, shopping, and a train ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railway. The accuracy of location, layout and amenities were more than we had expected. I highly recommend this property and look forward to staying there again next year!
