  We just returned from the BVI and our stay at Villa Caribe. This is a great beach house for two, we loved the view and the sound of the surf. We enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the surfers and the pelicans. It's really pretty to wake up and look out at the beautiful Caribbean from the loft. Sam the manager was very helpful getting us oriented with the island. We had always just sailed out of Tortolla and never got to know the island and I have to say I'll be back, it's so beautiful! Our favorite restaurant was Bananakeet, great food and view.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  This was our third time staying at Casa Carib and as always it is a great place. The villa is well equipped, lots of extra towels, bedding, cooking supplies and wifi! The villa is also easily reached by car, no steep driveway to go up which is a rare thing on Tortola. I would highly recommend this property to others.

When you next return you will note that we have re-tiled our showers, added new cushions (with a caribbean flair) to our sleeper sofas as well as upgraded our porch furniture. We take great care to insure that each of our guests have enough towels/linens/paper goods, etc., to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable. No need to run to the laundamat or grocery stores for basic supplies! Our internet is the best available on-island and we encourage our guests to bring their computers for evening entertainment (DVD's) and to "hook-up" with the mainland. Again, Thank you!   We fell in love with Casa Caribe! Wonderful location right on the ocean!! Not on a hill top. Loved sitting on our porch and enjoying the ocean. Wonderful villa. Charming! We stayed in the upstairs unit with the loft bedroom. Listening to the ocean was wonderful. The unit was well equiped and very clean. Perfect island getaway. The location was great. Walking distance to restaurants and beaches. Highly recommend -we hope to return next year. Manager was very friendly and helpful as were the Owners!!

  Owner response: Thank you so much for your lovely review of our island paradise. We take pride in being one of the few seaside villas for rent on Tortola. One can always stay "in the hills" but, we think, islands are all about ocean and beach. We also love that we can walk to our village without climbing up or down a steep slope and, although Casa Caribe is very private, we can visit with the "locals" at Sebastian's when we need some company. We also pride ourselves on our maintenance and cleanliness. We travel twice a year (spring and fall) to Tortola to inspect our "Casa" and to update amenities. We so enjoy our time in our "home away from home". We love to sit by the sea in the porch swing, listen to our music, and sip a cold drink while watching the pelicans fly and fish swim. We have even "gone fishing" off our balcony! Again, So happy you enjoyed your stay. Please come next year (or sooner)! We truly hope that you visit as guests and then return as friends!

  This villa would be ok for people on a tight budget. The location was excellent however the villa was run down. There was no air conditioning and the bedroom was in the loft. It was unbelievably hot even with the ceiling fan on. The property did not mention A/C so we should have been more careful. The "lapping""waves sounded like a hurricane every night. Even with earplugs it was impossible to sleep . Many windows had no screens so we did not open them. Even closed there were a lot of Mosquitos in the house. The windows had no shades or curtains and the sun rose at 5:30 every morning. Not fun. We never did see the gas barbeque listed and the patio furniture was very run down. Ther e was also no TV and after 8 days of being there we could have used some outside entertainment like the Olympics. Due to lack of screens and no A/c there were many little bugs on the counter tops and in the coffee pot. We bought bug spray to use in the house. We never did see the property manager. The house was open and the keys on the table. We did arrive at 5 pm so it was later in the day than expected. We tried to call and ask for a window fan but she never answered and there was no answering machine. We have booked several places on VRBO and every time there was a welcome basket or bottle of rum. There was nothing welcoming about this place. All that being said the view and location were quite beautiful but not for the faint of heart.

  Owner response: We are sorry to hear that Casa Caribe did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves in the maintenence and cleanliness of our villa. We frequent our Villa at least twice a year to inspect the building and, if need be, repair/ replace furniture, linens, appliances, etc. The entire villa has been freshly painted and a new roof was put on in 2011. We just visited in June (2012) and inspected/repaired/replaced all screens on all windows. We do not screen the entry doors as most guests leave these double-wide arched doors open to take in the magnificent view. Open doors can provide access to "no-see-ums" etc. & food residue on counters will attract ants. Our patio furniture is by Tropitone and a new dining table is on order from the states. The front of our villa faces North to the sea, behind us to the south is a 5 story vine covered wall and east and west of us are other 2 story villas. We enjoy lovely sunrises/sunsets from our covered balcony but it is impossible for the sun to shine directly into the villa. Although the other seasons can be quite moderate, summertime can be hot in the tropics. We do not advertise A/C (we have ceiling fans throughout) nor do we have TV. The ocean/beach/bays/outer islands are our entertainment. We do have a full stereo system and "wifi" and most of our guests bring laptops/tablets, etc. to connect to the internet and play DVD's. I contacted our property manager and she said she had spoken twice with you, once when you notified her of your late arrival, (she had been waiting at Casa Caribe from 2 pm) and again when you inquired about A/C and TV. She said she stopped by 3 times to check on you but you were out. She said she did not hear from you again. She definitely would have brought a fan had you requested one. We have had over 125 rentals since we signed with our manager (3 years) and this is our first complaint. We encourage our guests to contact us (our phone number and email are on the laminated info sheet in each unit). We are always available. To date we have received one call, from a guest who said they were rocking on the porch swing, enjoying the moonlight and just wanted to share the moment with us! We cherish Casa Caribe as it is one of the few villas located seaside on Tortola. The Ocean and all it holds, is a beautiful wonder to us, ever changing and unpredictable. Some days calm, some not but still inspiring. In over 20 years this is the first complaint we have ever had regarding the sound of the sea.

  This lovely loft villa was exactly what we were looking for! The view from the front porch is spectacular! The unit is equipped with everything you need to enjoy some quality time on Tortola. The owners of this property have been extremely accommodating and easy to work with throughout the reservation process. We were greeted warmly at the ferry terminal and shown right to the property- no confusion, no fumbling for maps- very easy to make the transition into island time! We enjoyed spending time at the beach at Little Apple Bay, as well as the lovely beaches nearby at Long Bay and Smuggler's Cove. The villa is close to several popular spots including the Sugar Mill restaurant, the legendary Bomba's Shack, and just over the hill from Cane Garden Bay, where we did most of our shopping at Bobby's Market and at the vendor stalls at the beach. Overall, an excellent value, and we hate to leave but will love to return! A million dollar view at a very reasonable rate. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

We travel extensively and appreciate the attention to the "finer" details of a holiday stay and we try to treat our guests as we would treat our friends. It is our desire for our guests to think of Casa Caribe not as just another "caribbean house" but as their "island home away from home" and have tried to accomodate our little piece of paradise with all of the amenities you would find in a more expensive resort. If you could tear yourself away from the expansive view of the sea, you may have noticed our kitchens are brazilian mahogany, our lighting fixtures are actually original pottery from Donald Schnell Studios in St. John and our gas grills are from West Marine for a "nautical" touch. I hope you also enjoyed the porch swing while gazing over the ocean and noticed the rocking chairs sea-side in the Sea-Level Unit.
