Welcome to Southern Charm, a 2BR, 2BA new log cabin located off scenic Hwy. 194, 10 miles from Boone, 10 miles to West Jefferson, and 1 mile to Todd General Store. Our cabin in the woods will put you only a short drive to all the main attractions, including a 15 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Our country theme cabin is tastefully decorated with country decor: quilts, farm animals, scarecrows, ragdolls, and a large bear loft. Enjoy the large bedrooms both with king sized beds, and a bear loft with 2 twin beds and a futon couch that makes into a single bed. You will love the wood walls, wood floors and 9 ft. wood ceilings with recessed lighting.
Everyone can relax outside with decks on three sides. The front and back decks are covered with the idea of total relaxation in mind. Listen to nature in the woods, watch the chipmunks play from the back deck, or rock to your hearts content. Grilling out or relaxing in the hot tub can be enjoyed rain or shine.
Our cabin in the trees has AC, but has only been used in August once! The trees keep the cabin cool day and night. We have screens on all the windows, so just push the windows up and feel the cool mountain breeze.
The kitchen has everything you need from grilling utensils, mixer, pancake griddle, coffee pot, tea kettle, to an old timey popcorn maker, with popcorn and recipe included! Sit on the back deck and sip on sweet tea from the country mason jar glasses. An iced tea maker and recipe is supplied to make things easy. An assortment of Southern recipes and cookbooks are on hand for those who like to create new dishes. Southern Charm cabin has a wood burning fire place because we believe there is nothing better than the smell and crackling of a wood fire. A Big Man recliner is nestled right near the fire for dozing off during the day or night.
For visitors with pets we offer a small fenced in dog run that will allow your dog to run freely on all the decks and back areas of the cabin. Drive one mile into Todd and you will find Todd General Store, River Girl Fishing Co., kayaking, tubing, fishing, horseback riding, biking on the Railroad Grade, and country music. Come enjoy you mountain stay in the country.

We just returned from a week at Southern Charm cabin in the town of Todd, NC. We arrived later in the day and ate at nearby Mellow Mushroom pizza in Boone, which was delicious. Our next day we woke to a beautiful snowfall which lasted for three days! My husband and kids had never seen snow before - so this was a great surprise! The cabin was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The listing description is very accurate and the pictures shown are exact. The one with snow even looks like it did when we were there. Our oldest child loved the loft area where he could play air hockey and watch tv at night. We had a great wood fire every night (firewood was plentifully provided), and made popcorn several times in the provided popcorn maker. We even used the crock pot for hot apple cider a few times, made with spices bought at the Mast General Store in nearby Valle Crucis. The cabin had everything we needed for the week, and we were very comfortable, being able to wash clothes and cook with what was provided in the kitchen appliances (everything as described in the listing). The weather was a frigid low 20s at night, but we remained very cozy and comfortable in the cabin. My only piece of advice for anyone traveling in the winter months: have 4-wheel drive! We did not, and we managed, but we also thought we would be safe the end of March! The weather put a damper on our plans for the area (Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, The Blowing Rock, Grandfather Trout Fishing, etc) but it was worth it to have such beautiful snow while we were there! Being from Florida - this was a great treat for us. We did enjoy some local shopping though. We will definitely visit again to the area and would love to stay in this cabin again! Thanks Angie for providing all the comforts of home in your beautiful cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks for the nice words about our cabin. We are happy to share it with your family. It is always a treat to get snow while in the mountains and you are right, very unexpected for the end of March. Let me know when your family can return. I am happy you and your family had a wonderful time. Angie

Just got back from a week at Southern Charm. What a great place to relax, unwind and reunite with our two children; our daughter home from college and our Marine son who came home from California for Christmas. Everything was clean and well maintained and we felt right at home. The Christmas tree and stockings by the fireplace added a nice touch. We spent every evening in the private hot tub. What a great comfort after several hours of snow skiing! We kept almost a continuous fire in the fireplace and there was plenty of firewood provided by the owner. The deck and outside area was very dog friendly. It was nice to be able to just open the door and let our dog out. The owner was very responsive in all of our communications. We've stayed in other VRBO properties and this was by far the best one yet. Thanks Angie for allowing us to share your mountain paradise.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
Owner response: It is always my pleasure to share our cabin with a great family. I am happy to hear that you found the cabin as comfortable and cozy as we do. I hope you and your family will let me know when you can return and we salute your son for all that he does. Angie

My husband and I (in our 60s) and our two dogs stayed at Southern Charm from 10/8 to 10/13/2012. It was a perfect spot for us to explore the area around Todd and then come home to a comfortable, clean and homey resting place. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after our hike to the top of Elk Knob mountain. Every morning, the dogs and I would take our walk to the crest of the road and watch the sun come up over the mountain, which made us very happy. My husband was happy with the comfy couch and flat screen TV where he could veg out and watch his baseball. We enjoyed going into Todd and listening to the story teller at the Todd General Store. It was too cold to go kayaking on the New River, but I imagine in the summer this would be a great activity. Angie gave us clear directions and was responsive to all questions. All in all, a great fall vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Hi, Thanks for choosing our cabin for your mountain trip this October. You picked a time with the turning of the leaves that was the best time to go to the mountains. It is great to know that you really enjoyed yourselves and the time at our cabin. Please let me know when you can return. Thanks, Angie

My husband & I just spent 4 nights at Southern Charm... and it was better than we expected... and exactly what we needed to de-stress! It's like living in a treehouse! The cabin is beautiful and so homey! Our dog loved running around the deck & outside area - and it was great not worrying about him getting out! We are definitely going back again - and stay longer. Everything we needed was there - local information, maps, wireless access, and great TV channels! And we had cell phone access. We are definitely fans of Southern Charm! Angie, thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for taking the time to write a nice comment about our cabin. It is a very peaceful place to unwind. Let me know when you can return. It is wonderful at the cabin in the winter when the snow is coming down!

Southern Charm is so relaxing & inviting. Angie has provided a "home away from home" ! The house had everything we needed to unwind from our busy lives & enjoy the beautiful mountains. Rain kept us from some of our planned outdoor activities but the hot tub & those great rockers more than made up for them. The house is just perfect-clean,spacious & so comfortable. Its location offers lots of privacy but it is also within a short drive to great restaurants, shopping, & sightseeing. Next time we'll do the canoeing, kayaking, tubing, & hiking (weather permitting) !! Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us. The YoungsRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am glad you enjoyed yourselves at the cabin. I know if you both needed some time away and deserve a break in the mountains. Even though the weather was not perfect, it is good that the cabin offered a place to rest and relax. Let me know when you can come again. Thanks so much, Angie

We were looking for a cabin close to Boone, NC but within a short drive to the Virginia Creeper Trail. We found both in this cabin. The cabin is only 15 minutes outside of Boone in Todd, NC and about 1:15 minutes to the VCT. The cabin itself is wonderful, private and very clean. It was the perfect size for our 2 sons and dog. But could have easily handled a couple of more adults. The boys loved having their own loft to play in, enjoying the air hockey table and private TV. The hot tube was very nice and fit the 4 of us nicely. Plus it is private overlooking the woods. Although he didn't say it (ha ha) our dog enjoyed the cabin also with plenty of room for him to roam and fenced in run was a extra bonus. Having the satellite/wireless internet was great also. We were able to look up directions, restaurants and things to do. Just one note for other parents, there is no yard at this cabin, which we did not mind since we spent our time out during the day and the cabin itself has plenty of interior space. The owner Angie is very nice and responsive. It makes a real difference when you rent from someone who is so hospitable. This cabin is definitely going on our list of great places to stay while in Boone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Eric and Selena, Thank you so much for the kind words about your stay at our cabin. It really makes sharing the cabin with guests worth it when they enjoy themselves, find it comfortable, and take their time to write a review. I thank you again and hope you will return to the mountains soon. Angie Poston, owner

As a highly critical traveler, I have to confess that I was so pleased with the Southern Charm cabin. The cabin itself is tastefully decorated, well maintained, and very clean. The hot tub was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day mining for emeralds! This area of North Carolina is rich with history and offers plenty of outdoor activities...or for someone like me, allowed me to unwind and relax. Vacationers should be aware that this area of NC has very poor to no cell phone reception. Luckily the free wi-fi allowed us to stay connected to the world a bit. We invited our family who lives in town to visit and they fell in love with the cabin and will be recommending it to other visiting guests as well. It is ideally suited for both adults, children, and dogs alike. I highly recommend Southern Charm and will absolutely be staying there again in the future!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Beth and family, I thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review of our cabin. It is peaceful and we love to enjoy the area as well. I will agree with the cell phone coverage not being perfect with some carriers and that is due to the high mountain range blocking some carrier's signal. When your group is ready to return, ust let me know. Thanks, Angie

LOVED, LOVED the cabin. Angie, thank you so much for helping make this family vacation a wonderful experience. Such a charming place and VERY convenient to Boone and other area attractions! Our kids (9 & 3) were so thrilled to be returning to the cabin each day..some days asked to return when my husband and I wanted to keep going. My son is already planning our return. It was a great place to return to and just relax!!! This was just what our family needed and your cabin made it extra special! Thanks again from our family to yours!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Angie and Pat, I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. It is a joy to be able to share the cabin with families like yourself. You have mentioned coming back in the summer, just let me know the dates and we will reserve your summer trip. Thanks so much for the kind words. Angie poston, owner

We stayed at the cabin for a short honeymoon and had the best time! It is private and quiet. We loved using the fireplace for romantic evenings. The hot tub is great and the porch is so peaceful. The beds are the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on in any cabin or hotel. The cabin is super clean and tastefully decorated. Angie was very accomodating, kind and helpful. We could not ask for a more perfect cabin or rental experience. We hope to be back very soon! Thanks, Angie, for everything.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Mark and I met at Appalachian State and have enjoyed the beauty of the mountain for years. Living in Wilmington, NC gives us a chance to enjoy both the beach and the mountains. I grew up in Hudson, just down the mountains, and still consider myself a country girl. Our family has enjoyed the fishing in the New River and the snow skiing close by. It is funny how we watch the weather report and when a snowfall is in the forecast, we try to pack it up and head for the hills.
Why the Owner Chose Todd:
I looked for a cabin that would give us the privacy and rest when we wanted to escape the hustle and bustle. Our Southern Charm cabin is located a short run from Boone or West Jefferson and the beauty of the country, farm animals, creeks, and foliage along Hwy. 194 is breathtaking! We have seen beavers, raccoons, deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, chipmunks, owls, and hawks along our drives in the country.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
One of the features I knew would be important in a cabin for our family would be first of all a private cabin with privacy on a covered back deck. We enjoy sitting and drinking coffee and watching nature in the trees. A covered deck does not change your supper plans if you plan to grill or relax in the hot tub if it rains, which it does often in the mountains. We also enjoy the smell and sound of the wood burning in the fireplace.
