Enjoy views of Moores Pond and Little Pisgah Mountain from this 2 bedroom/one bath Guest House. Recently remodeled, your vacation retreat has a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, wood floor in the living area, central air/heat, and a wood-burning fireplace. Amenities include WiFi, satellite and cable TV, AM/FM, CD, DVD, VCR, Gas outdoor grill, outdoor furniture. A two acre pond is ready for canoeing, sitting and enjoying watching herons and a variety of birds, or feeding the resident Mallards. There are miles of hiking trails in the woods on this 50-acre property, from moderate to strenuous. An additional highlight is that this is a small working farm, with various crops growing in season and a small French Alpine dairy goat herd. Two of our five does had 5 kids in late March (19th and 20th), the other 3 does will kid in early May and early June.
Located in Fairview, only 11 miles southeast of Downtown Asheville (6 miles from city limits) and 6 miles from I-40 and the Blue Ridge Parkway, this private residence is in the country, yet very convenient to the many attractions of the area, including the Biltmore Estate, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock State Park, and (of course) the mountains with their spectacular views, waterfalls, and tourist attractions. Every season has its gifts, from summer festivals and craft fairs to fall color, winter holidays at the Biltmore House, and spring blossoms. There is an Amish Market (bakery, fresh eggs, and other goodies) next door...across the pasture.

This is a fantastic rental with great people. Most of my interactions were with Chuck, but both he and Sarah are wonderful. They have just the right balance of being friendly and also allowing their visitors to determine the amount of interaction. Chuck was very responsive when there was an issue with the AC. It was fixed the same day. Also, he was super helpful in my "I forgot to bring coffee" plight, and he generously shared with me. The guest house is comfortable and provides all the needed amenities. WiFi is fast, which has not been my experience with other short term rentals. Beds are comfy and the kitchen is generously sized. Kitchen equipment is nice, too. The knives are even sharp-not my usual experience with rentals. :) Chuck and Sarah obviously take pride in offering a comfortable and well-equipped place for people to stay. The farm is great and peaceful without being too distant from the Asheville scene. My 18 month old loved seeing the goats and the horses, to whom we were introduced personally by Chuck and Sarah. This is the absolute perfect place for families. Kids will love the space and the animals. Though this trip was just me and one of my sons, I look forward to returning with our whole family. I would recommend this property without hesitation to anyone looking to stay at a clean, well-maintained and peaceful location near Asheville.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: It is always wonderful to have families with children who enjoy learning and having fun the the baby goats and adult goats. Many like to learn how to milk the momma goats, or just watch them being milked.

We had a wonderful trip to the "goat farm". The house had everything we needed, including firewood, and was very clean and updated. The owners were very accommodating and spent a lot of time with us visiting the baby goat (so cute!). It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but can easily and quickly get to downtown- a perfect location. You can also walk to an Amish market that has the BEST cinnamon rolls!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Great family!!!! We love folks who know how to enjoy the farm and the Asheville area...wonderful!!

The other reviewers are spot on. The property itself an extremely good value given the natural beauty surrounding the property and convenience to visit the sites you have in mind. We spent some time on the pond, visited the horse & goats, walked to the Amish market. The bread from the Amish market was nice for our drive home. We visited Black Mountain, Lake Lure, downtown Asheville (convenient drive), drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway and visited a number of waterfalls about an hour away. We happened to have a group of five people and used a fold-out mat that was in the closet. We were all comfortable. We greatly enjoyed our stay and wish we had stayed longer. We would definitely return - Chuck and Sarah we very warm and gracious hosts. I felt like we visiting old friends that went out of their way to think about little things to ensure our comfort. Nice touches in the property - extremely welcoming.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Wonderful family...we were not sure they would enjoy the mat in the closet...it was meant to be used by kids. Hope mom enjoyed the surprise stay for her birthday...they told her she was going to stay in the goat barn. But, she was pleased that there was WI FI and Satellite TV.

My family had a wonderful time at Moores Pond. Chuck and Sarah were very gracious hosts--friendly, helpful, and responsive to any questions. The house was spotless and beautifully renovated. My daughters (age 6 and 10) had a blast feeding the goats. I can't recommend it highly enough!Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: It is wonderful to have guests who love the baby goats as much as we do. This is what Agri-Tourism is all about...being part of the fun on the farm.

We went up for 4 nights with our 2 kids (3 yrs and 10 months), and it was wonderful! Very nicely decorated, beautiful view, great patio. It was a perfect vacation for our family. We enjoyed walking around the property every day and seeing the goats (including babies!) & horses. Our three year old could spend all day by the pond, and loved getting out on the canoe. The Amish shop was super convenient and had a large variety of grocery items. And with hiking trails out the back door, who could ask for more? Chuck and Sara were such great hosts and a pleasure to get to know. Having a glass of wine with them and all the goats on the dock by the pond the night of our wedding anniversary is a memory we won't forget!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, romantic getaway.

we had a wonderful time.. didn't want to be on the go all the time.. so it was very peaceful..we had 2 teenagers and they also had fun just on the farm. its not far from asheville maybe 10 min the more you went in town the shorter is seemed.. would stay again. our dog also love it.. its away from the road so your dog can have some freedom.. chuck the owner is very nice and helpful.. the house is as nice as if you were at home..Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Wonderful guests...great dog, more like a hot dog (dachshund).

We had a lovely time at this adorable, private cottage at Moore's Pond. The cottage was spotless and had every thing we needed for the perfect week - including a brand new grill! Chuck and Sara were very welcoming and helpful, and responded quickly to any questions we had. Our son (well, all of us!) loved playing with the two-week old baby goats, had a great time canoeing on the beautiful pond, and had fun hunting for lizards at the smaller pond on the property. Our dog was made very welcome, got to run free with the goats and horses, and play with the owner's dog as well. We could hike right off the property on fun trails, and these were great for letting the dog off-leash. Asheville was an easy 10 minutes away, where we were astounded with the amazing amount of independent restaurants and bookstores - very fun to explore. Black Mountain was also a quick car ride away, where we discovered more great hiking and the local Pisgah Brewery. We hightly recommend this property for getting away (it was our spring break), exploring the area, experiencing life on a French Alpine Goat Farm (fascinating!), hiking and just being outside. Thanks Chuck and Sara for a wonderful vacation!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We love to have guests that enjoy the farm and goats. Asheville is such a wonderful place to explore and sample. The mountains of Western North Carolina and Asheville have become great places for vacations.

We had the pleasure of staying at Moore's Pond Farm over New Year's Eve, 2011. Of course, when you decide to take a holiday away from home, you want it to be extra special, so our expectations were high. I am delighted to report that we were completely charmed and impressed immediately. Chuck was very warm and responsive, even before we had booked our stay. He was all that and more in real life! Every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. The logistics were a breeze, the directions to the farm were perfect, and the guest house could not have been better appointed. It felt like easy-going luxury: granite countertops meet grandma's quilts. And frankly, we were amazed that this was a pet-friendly property because it was *spotless*. Completely immaculate. It was very easy and quick to get to Asheville and Black Mountain, and our hosts provided lots of area information. They were also readily accessible for any questions we had. The Amish Blatz (store) across the pasture is a short morning walk and a wonderful destination for freshly-baked cinnamon rolls and hot coffee. We even bought some slices of lean ham steak to take back to our gourmet kitchen and make for our second breakfast of the day! The Blue Ridge views are stellar (even in winter) and the on-site hiking trails fantastic. The goats and horses were very loving and sweet, which must come from living with people like Chuck and Sarah. There's a calm and happiness that permeates this place; it was wonderful to be a part of it, if only for a long weekend!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Wonderful couple with a great dog! Looking forward to their return in the Spring when we have baby goats to play with and they can learn to milk the mama goats.

We recently were in the Asheville area for just three days (I know...not long enough) and were spoiled with our stay at Chuck and Sarah's wonderful guest house, right next to their lovely home. As advertised, we were free to do as much or little as we liked and our hosts were full of ideas with numerous things to do and places to visit. We loved the Biltmore Estate and all the local color, although we were there a little late for the peak fall color this year. Of course, we thoroughly enjoyed the short trek with Chuck over to visit Troyer's Amish Market and we did try the homemade sticky cinnamon buns for breakfast. WOW! And we bought a few more items, which we've enjoyed since arriving home last week. What a great little store right there across the field and through the woods! We found the guest house to be very clean and well-appointed, generous in size and more than we really needed. Their guest house was just as pictured and described. When we return -- and we will -- we have our guest home with Chuck and Sarah waiting for us. They were of such help with whatever we needed. Since they are long-time residents, there's surely nothing around these beautiful mountains they don't know about. We both enjoyed Cedric's at the Biltmore Estate and Pack Tavern on the square in downtown Asheville, which Chuck heartily recommended for lunch. We only wish we had planned a few more days to enjoy the Asheville area, as well as the great 'home away from home' we've discovered. Naturally, we will heartily recommend Chuck and Sarah's property to friends and family visiting western North Carolina.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We had a great stay at Moore's Pond in early August with our two teen-aged boys. The description of the location and amenities was accurate, but did not begin to capture the welcome and comfort we felt while we were visiting. Yes, everything was spit spot clean. The kitchen was lovely and spacious. We made use of the WiFi and the DVD player and the outdoor dining area. We would have likely used the fireplace if we'd been there there in cooler weather. We loved the proximity to Asheville, and we enjoyed exploring the town and its many art attractions and FOOD! But for us, the highlights of our trip were being in Nature and on the farm itself. We liked hiking the hills from the property. We liked exploring the waterfalls in the state park nearby. We liked touring the smaller towns around the area. We enjoyed hanging out with the goats. Sarah and Chuck were a wealth of information, kind and generous with their time. We loved walking over to the Amish store and getting fresh cinnamon rolls in the morning. YUM! The zip line adventure north of Asheville was the most spectacular adventure we've taken with these young men. It was awesome (and remarkably safe, at the same time). We'll remember whipping over the tree tops for a long time. We'd recommend this location for the diversity of possibilities and the lovely hosts. We'd love to come back again.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.
Owner response: Our guests were the perfect visitors. They wanted to learn how to milk the goats or just sit and talk with the baby kids (goats), feed the ducks or pet the horses. They enjoyed exploring the greater Asheville area, for the wealth of fun and food available. Asheville has been voted number 1 for the best Micro Breweries in the USA (I think based on size). Asheville is also a great arts and crafts meca, which our guests loved. The Amish market, next door (1000+ feet) is always a hit with our guests...their sticky buns are wonderful, as are all the deli goodies they stock. Moores Pond Farm is a wonderful place to sit and relax or be as active as you wish...nothing is pre-planned...you can do as much or as little as you wish.
