Of our entire trip to Brussells, Bruges, Luxembourg, and Holland - this was by far the best place we stayed. A fantastic location for everything one would want to see in Bruges. Located on a busy street in the mornings when the tourists arrive and for residents getting to work, this is a truly lovely vacation home. We enjoyed all the original details of the home and the comfortable space. We made full use of the washer/dryer and practically everything you would need is provided. The staircases to the bedrooms are a bit steep and windy. (We had to make the rule that our 3 year old daughter would not go up and down the stairs unattended.) The house was cozy/warm/clean and well appointed. Our daughter LOVED that her bed was made up with Disney Princess sheets and a few stuffed animals to keep her company. What a fabulous touch! Parking is not free on the street, but we were shown were to park for free during our stay, which was a nice benefit. I would HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone visiting Bruges!

My Mum and I stayed for 4 nights in April. This house is lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Marie Christine met us and talked us through everything we could possibly need to know about the house and how to best spend our time in Brugge. The house book is filled with information and was very helpful. Location is excellent with only a 5 minute walk to the centre. Stairs are very steep and narrow, we decided to leave our suitcases downstairs and wasn't a problem for us. Could be very difficult to manoeuvre them up and down. Beds are comfortable, towels fluffy and apartment well equipped. On check out, Marie Christine met us again and even drove us to the train station. Extra touches of chocolates and beer was very nice too (even though we forgot to drink the beer). Thank you for a wonderful stay! We would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to Brugge and hope to be back ourselves.

We had a five night stay at Lady Lace for a family reunion - 4 adults plus a 10year old. The house was perfect, just as depicted on the website, you will want for nothing and the location is perfect. Marie-Christine was delightful giving us lots of hints and suggestions as to how to enjoy her lovely town, which we did. If you have the opportunity, go to Tom's Diner for a beautiful meal, we went twice. We heartily recommend Lady Lace to anyone thinking of visiting Bruges and would happily stay there again, and again.

We stayed only a few nights in this delightful cottage and enjoyed every minute. The meet and greet on arrival combined with complimentary Belgium Beer and chocolates was a wonderful start to our stay. Bruges is such a beautiful town and Lady Lace was perfect to be so close to all we wanted to see. The kids enjoyed the top floor room,

We recently stayed at Lady Lace for several nights and we had a lovely time. The apartment is very charming, comfortable, and nicely furnished. It has everything you need for a great holiday (well stocked kitchen if you wish to cook, good wireless). Despite it being snowy and below freezing in Bruges the weekend we were there, the house interior was very warm and cozy - not drafty at all! We were very pleased. The apartment is in a great location for exploring the city - just a few minutes walk from the main square and bell tower, and restaurants and bars. The owners were very welcoming the night we arrived, and were very accomdating of our being delayed due to the snowy conditions. Francis even helped us with directions and with parking our car. Please read the welcome book they have provided! Its full of so much information about the city (and about the house itself- the lace artwork on the walls was made by the owners and they are very beautiful). Its clear the owners love Bruges and wish for their guests to love it too. We are eager to return to Bruges, and we don't want to stay anywhere else. I cannot recommend this house more highly. Stay here!!

We stayed at Lady Lace for a week over the Christmas holiday and had the best possible experience. The house was just perfect - clean, cozy, and very well kept and appointed. The owners Francis and Marie Christina were warm, friendly, and extraordinarily helpful. Their "housebook" is extremely well done and thoroughly lists more activities, places, and things to do in Brugge and the surrounding countryside that we couldn't possibly do everything. The Christmas market was festive and beautiful, and the medieval setting was truly magical. That is the part we enjoyed most: the city just breathes history at every turn. We will be recommending the Lady Lace to our friends, and we are already talking about a return trip soon!

Fantastic location, less than five minutes walk to the Belfrey. Beautiful house with everything we could possibly have needed. Charmingly old but with every convenience. The owner was very helpful and friendly. The children (9&7) loved the house and we found plenty to do in our three days in Bruges. It was very cold outside but the house was warm and cozy.

We recently returned from a stay at the Lady Lace and wanted to write a review because we had such a wonderful time. From the moment we emailed Francis with our initial inquiry to the moment we left the property we were well cared for. The property is fantastic. Very clean and filled with everything we needed (and more!) for a great holiday. (We were traveling with our toddler and the house was filled everything we needed for him - cot, high chair, bath items etc.) The owners were wonderful to deal with and have obviously taken great care to ensure that the house is well stocked. Knowing we were traveling with our son, Marie-Christine was kind enough to make a special bed for him. It was perfect! The house itself is perfectly situated for wandering around the old town. It is on a main road just a short walk to the Markt. The street can be a touch noisy as it is one of the main roads into the old town, but as a tourist we could not have asked for a better location. A highlight was that the horses and carriages use the road on their way to work in the old town, so every morning we were treated to parade of horses and carriages! It was beautiful to see them pass. One night, we had a very small problem with the washer and it turned out to be nothing, but I wanted to mention it because we called the owners and they were at the property within minutes and had the issue sorted shortly upon arrival. We were so impressed with how they responded to the issue. We always rent houses when we travel and were so pleased to work with these owners. They made everything easy for us, and it was obvious that they worked hard to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves and that our trip was flawless. Finally - read the book in the house. Marie-Christine has filled it with everything you will need for a great stay. Also from reading the book you will see that the owners obviously love Bruges and want their guests to do the same. We recommend the Lady Lace without any reservation. You will love it there!

Between Lady Lacy and Brugge, my husband and I were smitten with the whole experience. We usually rent apartments or homes instead of hotels but have never stayed in a place as charming as Lady Lace. We have already recommended the home to several friends and have plans of returning. We wish we had stayed longer!

This past July we traveled to the wonderful city of Brugge and stayed in the charming and cozy Lady Lace. This was our first time in Brugge and the first time in Europe to stay in lodging that was not an inn nor hotel. Both were such a pleasure. The home is well situated, comfortable, well equipped, close to groceries (the weekly open air market is a must for delicious food), and within walking distance of most tourist sites and restaurants (or only a bike ride away. We are in our 60's and don't bike often at home, but loved biking around Brugge.) There were only two of us, but Lady Lace would be comfortable for more than one couple or a family. The owners provide all the necessary information when they greet you and in written form in the house. They are lovely people and their rental home reflects that. If we are ever lucky enough to be in Brugge again, we will want to stay in Lady Lace.

We stayed in this apartment (townhome really) for 4 nights. The house is located about 5 minutes walk from the main square.....and about 10-15 minutes walk from just about everywhere. The home itself is on 3 floors with 2 bedrooms being on the 2nd floor and a spare 3rd bedroom (with bunk beds) on the 3rd floor. First of all the owners were very welcoming and friendly. The home is pretty and tasteful --- it has all the things you need. (There is no dishwasher --- not sure how many homes in Bruges have dishwashers). The house is clean and everything works. You should be aware that the stairs leading to both the 2nd and 3rd floor are very steep and so may not be that kid friendly for say under-10s. (Please note that I think most of Bruges is likely to have the "steep staircase" issue). What else that maybe useful? Bruges is a pretty but a very touristy town --- however, we did not mind being tourists in Bruges and did not feel that Bruges was a tourist trap (much of Europe is, in our view). If I have to list a few drawbacks, and i probably should, I would say the home is on a fairly busy street and there is no place to sit outside for a morning coffee; clearly the house does not have a canal view so maybe it is irrelevant. One other thing and this it seems is a Bruges-wide issue (at least in this area of town).....there is some sort of gutter/sewer smell that pervades the town (and home) every now and then --- maybe 2-3 times a day. Not sure what it is......seems to be a Bruges-wide thing as we felt it near the Markt square too. Maybe the canals, maybe the rains, maybe the sewers...who knows!? Ok, we have described everything and the "good" by far outweighs the "issues"! And in fact I may be being overly meticulous on the "issues" --- just to disclose everything. Overall, I would recommend both Bruges and this vacation home without reservation. And again the owners were very nice.

Our stay at Lady Lace was, in a word, perfect. We loved it all---the wee little garden terrace in the center of the living area...the lovely framed lacework pieces (created by our hostess!)...the generous table, complete with complementary Belgian chocolates as the centerpiece display (they looked so inviting, we each ate just one a day to make them last)...the Belgian beer in the fridge. And the location was spectacular. We just walked out our door and we were already "there"! A short distance to the left was our little market for breads and fruit and good things to fix for breakfast and lunch. A few doors down to the right was Ipou's little shop, with excellent French Rose for just over 5 euros a bottle---what a find. And he had ice cream and other goodies, so we were in and out of his shop all day, every day. A few more blocks to the right was the market square---the hub of activity, including the biweekly market, which I loved! We enjoyed the canal boat ride...and the shops...and the amazing parade that we happily happened to be there to see. But mostly we enjoyed just hanging out in the market square eating frites, and walking the charming old town from one end to the other. Thank you to our host and hostess for an absolutely wonderful stay at Lady Lace. They were immediately available to help in every way, and were very welcoming. We would highly recommend this charming little house to anyone planning a stay in Bruges. Carolee and Barry Duckworth Sherrills Ford, North Carolina May, 2011

My husband, 3 and 5 year old daughters, mother and I stayed at this charming property for 3 nights. The house was larger than it appeared in the pictures and extremely well-stocked. Marie-Christine was so kind and helpful prior to our arrival - we were going to arrive on a Sunday afternoon and she was able to find a small grocery store within walking distance so we could have some food in the house for breakfast the next morning. The house is an easy 5-7 minute walk to the Markt, and more importantly for my chocoholic self...to Dumon Chocolatier :) Definitely a must see (or should I say must eat?) If we come to Bruges again, we would be delighted to stay at this lovely house again. One last comment, the stairs in the property are quite steep and probably not suitable for children under the age of 3. I insisted that both of my daughters hold an adult's hand going up and down the stairs because the railings had large openings that opened to the floors below.

Lady Lace was by far the nicest rental house that we've ever stayed at. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful and the house exceeded expectations. It was clean, well laid out and just a 3 minute walk from the center square of the town. We have already recommended the property to friends and rent it again on our next trip to Bruges - this time for at least a week! We were a group of 3 adults and 2 young children, who adored the bunk beds on the top floor. I would recommend this to several couples or a family. 10 out of 10!!

Our month long stay in Brugge was possible because we booked at Lady Lace House. We were looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom rental that was within walking distance to the whole historic district of Brugge. We found it at Lady Lace.We stayed 1 month & never needed a car, we walked, we took public transportation & we took day tours all from our location. There were many choices of markets & restaurants & the bus stop was 1/2 a block away. The house was all that VRBO web page promised, clean, charming, well equiped,& most of warm & caring owners. We loved chatting with Marie-Christine,she & Francis offered many suggestions for things to do & places to go.The housebook was filled with important facts, fun facts, & history of Brugge as well as of Lady Lace herself. We were able to entertain friends from home with the additional bedrooms which mae our stay more enjoyable. We would highly recommend Lady Lace whe wanting to stay in Brugge whether it be for 3 days or 1 month!...We loved it all

My sister and I stayed at Lady Lace for 5 nights in September 2010 and found the house comfortable and charming. The owners go out of their way to make your stay special in every way. They could not be more helpful. The location of the house is great, only 5 minutes slow walking to the center square. I have rented many times in Europe and this house was at the top for comfort, cleanliness, equipment and helpful owners. It is very well equiped, so you do not need to rush out and buy supplies. This is the only house I have ever rented that you could instantly warm the house and easily operate the appliances. Would rent this house again and recommend it to others, if you do not have a problem with stairs. Patti in California

Teresa ( Agosto 2010)"

We arrived late as we were driving in from Paris. The Micholt's are very gracious hosts and went out of their way to meet us at a very late hour, touring us around their beautiful house and answering our questions about Brugge. They were very accommodating of our toddlers, a wonderful resource for recommendations and suggestions for our four day visit. Brugge is a wonderfully preserved historic town, very safe and easy to get around. We were very comfortable letting our teenagers bicycle around town and their grandmother enjoyed walking around independently, too. Brugge was the highlight of our vacation and this home was the centerpiece, close to everything and yet quiet and comfortable at night.

We recently (June, 2010) stayed at Lady Lace and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful, full of charm and character and wonderfully situated for visiting Bruges and the surrounding area. It is a short walk - 5 minutes - to the Market Square and surrounding sites, close to restaurants and convenience stores (night shops) as well as a butcher, bakery, pharmacy and small grocery store. The owners are very pleasant and welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and, for those that require it, speak excellent english. The house is well equipped and is a far superior choice to a hotel for a longer stay. We certainly appreciated the flexibility of being able to book for less than a full week which is not the case with a number of other apartment / house rentals. We thouroughly enjoyed wandering the streets of old Bruges and staying in the house contributed to a feeling of being a local rather than a visitor. Sights worth seeing include the two main squares, Church of the Holy Blood, the canal cruise, the windmills and the drive to Damme along the Polders. While we didn't do it, the option of the trip on the paddle steamer looked inviting. The beaches at Knokke-Heist and Blankenberge are also worth a visit and are very close with a car. In the spiritof full disclosure, the only woed of caution I would add is for those with physical challenges, the stairs, in common with houses of this type from our observation, are steep. A wonderful stay and we would not hesitate to recommend the Lady Lace to anyone visiting Bruges. We hope to return one day.

Our family of six loves small town, quaint Europe even better than the big, touristy cities. Living like locals in romantic towns in the country is our favorite thing to do. This historic step-gabled home is right inside the Old Town ring in Brugge. We could walk to all the sights, bakeries, waffle stands, frites. We loved the kitchen, the steep stairs, the comfy beds. The house was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, laundry, etc. Even chocolate! The owners were darling and helped us with itinerary ideas including renting bikes from the Hostel a few doors down. We biked to Damme (actually all the way to Sluis in Holland) and had an amazing day biking a tree-lined path along a dike, crossing wood bridges, using hand-cranked ferries, climbing church towers, seeing windmills, buttercups, sheep, and cows. We caught a town fair in Sluis and had apelbollen from a cart. Yum! We would highly recommend this house in Brugge to our friends. If you like quaint and historical places to stay, book it! You won't be sorry!

What a wonderful location and perfectly appointed house. So close to the central square with easy access to everything you could possibly want. The 3 storey house was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. Ample room with every facility one could ask for (except internet access - but there is free wifi only 100m down the road). Recommend this for families or groups of up to 6. Francis (owner) is a treaure and full of great info to help with your stay.

We have just left Bruges and Lady Lace. This is the most charming little authentic Flemish house. It comfortably slept six of us and provided us with all amenities of a five star hotel. The location was more than excellent and only a 2 min walk into Mkt square where all tours imaginable were available. I highly recommend Lady Lace and Francis and his wife were very welcoming and obliging. You will not be disappointed and will come away with a wonderful memory of Bruges and your accommodations. We had the most wonderful stay at 'Lady Lace', it is an exquisite gem. Francis the owner met us upon arrival and immediately made us feel welcome. All ammenities were provided for our comfort and we were well taken care of with the house book which provided us with all information. The absolute best part was the location, as we walked into Market Sq quite a few times to take various tours. It is a 2 min walk and close to everything! Just a perfect stay and we hope to be back one day. The home suits the town and provided us with a special experience. Thanks Francis and to your wife for her wonderful lace works that we were more than interested in. A++++ experience!!
