Rustic & modern charm in a beautiful, spacious rental

Guest: Brett C. (Lowell, Mass.)
Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/20/11

My wife and I rented the Seaside Castle for our 5-year anniversary weekend, and we couldn't be more complimentary. It is a beautiful, spacious rental that is the perfect combination of rustic charm and modern convenience. We biked to Salem one day, thanks to the convenient location (not to mention it's only half a block from the bike trail into Marblehead!), and spent most of the rest of our vacation enjoying the beautiful outside porch, the full satellite television, and cooking in the spacious kitchen. Brett was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We are VRBO veterans and would easily recommend this rental to others.

A Dreamy Retreat

Guest: Mike and Tina (Milton, Ontario)

Coachman’s Quarters is like stepping into heaven. Everything is so clean and tastefully decorated, well-equipped and well-stocked, with large, airy rooms, tons of storage space, a delightful porch, and beautiful grounds and gardens. The proprietor did not spare a single detail, with small kindnesses to welcome us around every corner and in every drawer, including a fully stocked pantry and bottled drinks, as well as delightfully scented soaps and shampoos among other sundries in the bathrooms. It had everything we could possibly need or want in a vacation abode: a fantastic TV system, a DVD service, wi-fi, central air, lots of tourism pamphlets and information, everything we could need in the kitchen from coffee maker to new appliances, and best of all, really huge sofas and a really luxurious bed. Comfy, comfy, comfy! And let me tell you, we were comfortable indeed. What a relaxing week. The beach was just down the street and the downtown a couple minute's drive. We had a wonderful time in Marblehead and would probably return only if we could stay in the Coachman's Quarters again.

Coachman's to

Guest: Swannie (Dartmouth, MA)
Date of Stay: 05/28/11 Review Submitted: 05/31/11

We had the most wonderful family weekend at the Coachman's Quarters. From the moment we arrived, any of our anticipated needs were beautifully met. The apartment is roomy, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. It is immaculate and well set up for a couple or a family to enjoy the quaint beauty of Marblehead. Beaches and downtown are nearby as well as historic Salem. Brett also provided detailed information on Marblehead and surrounding area for those unfamiliar with the area. She even provided beach towels and beach chairs knowing the weekend would be warm. I would highly recommend this charming and delightful property to anyone!!!

May in Marblehead

Guest: alex's grandma (easton maryland)
Date of Stay: 05/01/11 Review Submitted: 08/04/11

We rented Coachman's Quarters for the entire month of May 2011. Our experience could not have been better from our first contact to our last day there. Brett was helpful and friendly over the phone and warm and delightful in person even leaving notes in our mail box about special events in Marblehead during our stay. The house is the most interesting place and looks exactly like the drawing on the logo. We felt like we had lived in our own castle in Marblehead rather than just visiting. After a fun day of New England road tripping it was great to get "home" to our own kitchen, porch, and yard and kick back. I have already recommended a stay here to all my friends along with side trips to Woodstock,Vermont and Essex,Mass. It was a quick and easy day to go see the LL Bean flagship in Freeport Maine and being in Marblehead in the spring was just magic. We tryed all the local restaurants (again with recommendations from Brett--her notebook of maps and recommendations and tips and general info was our bible while we were there.) and loved the lobster mac and cheese at The Landing. All in all a memorable time...

Wonderful

We've stayed twice at Coachman's Quarters and hope it's possible to return again many times. As noted in another comment, the photos do not do justice to the charm and spaciousness of the apartment. Staying here is like getting to live in a historic New England house with every modern convenience. We are family of four, including two large young adults, and the space accommodated us perfectly, especially when we were homebound for two days during a blizzard, see below. Brett's hospitality is beyond excellent. The apartment is very private, but Brett will help with whatever you need to make the most of your visit and her personal touch makes this a special place. Our most recent stay coincided with this winter's Blizzard #1, and she delivered candles, bottled water, and the weather forecast. On our summer visit, we ended the day in the round living room, watching the Red Sox on NESN, listening to the waves in the distance...it doesn't get any better than that. My only hesitation in writing this review is that so many of you will book a stay at Coachman's Quarters that there won't be time left for us.

A Perfect New England Thanksgiving

Guest: Carol (Toronto, Canada)
Date of Stay: 11/23/10 Review Submitted: 01/19/11

What a lovely home-base for our New England Thanksgiving! Spacious and beautifully appointed, the Castle provided plenty of privacy and comfort for all six adults in our group. The apartment was clean and extremely well maintained - the owner was available whenever needed. The apartment is located close to all the main attractions in Marblehead and was therefore very convenient for all our outings and activities. We couldn't have asked for more and are looking forward to our next visit.

Girls Weekend

Guest: Heather (Seymour, CT)
Date of Stay: 10/22/10 Review Submitted: 01/18/11

I have used VRBO many times before and in several different states and I haven't been disappointed yet. This property has everything you need no matter how long your stay is, and at a very affordable price. The owner, Brett was so nice and just a pleasure to work with, she was even there to welcome us upon arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. Our trip was centered around the activities in Salem in October and this was the perfect location. We were just about 10min. from everything we wanted to do without being right in the middle of it. The pictures provided do not do this property justice, it was way more spacious and beautiful than what we thought. Even though the owners live on the property it was still very private. We had a great time and plan on returning at some point this year for some more Girls Weekend Fun!

As good as it gets

Guest: Stef (New Jersey)
Date of Stay: 10/09/10 Review Submitted: 01/25/11

We spent Columbus Day Week in the Seaside Castle and it was as good as it gets. The apartment is extremely spacious, nice and clean and the property is located in a quiet residential area so you can have a real vacation. Marblehead is a great place to combine sightseeing in Salem, day trips to Boston, Cape Ann or New Hampshire with relaxing days at one of the beaches, in a seaside cafe or a stroll through the town. The owners helped us with everything we needed such as a map of the Boston Transit System, recommendations for restaurants and shopping. We highly recommend this property.

Great historical getaway

Guest: travelling family (ottawa)
Date of Stay: 08/21/10 Review Submitted: 01/17/11

Wonderful historical home in a quiet residential setting close to the sea. The unit is in one of the turret of the old home and has a separate and private entrance. Gorgeous wood floor and decorations, it feels like your are stepping back in time but with all the amenities you could possibly need. My favorite was the circular living room with the gorgeous windows and the piano. The owners welcome you with a nice gift basket and the house is fully stocked with items such as olive oil to shampoo etc. They are most welcoming and cordial. They have a great selection of movies for those nights you want to stay in. Great location to visit Boston and surrounding Salem and country side. Highly recommended.

Perfect accomodations for crew

Guest: crew coordinator (East Brunswick, New Jersey)
Date of Stay: 08/12/10 Review Submitted: 03/25/11

We needed lodgings for a crew of four men and two women who were competing in a regatta. The accomodations were perfect because of the different configurations of the sleeping accomodations. The kitchen was roomy enough to accomodate everyone and the living room was a great place for gathering. Our host was helpful and friendly. The location was within minutes from everywhere we needed to be. I would definitely stay there again next time we are in this neck of the woods.

We stayed at the castle for 4 days. Our home was so comfortable and cozy. Great beds and living space, especially in the huge family room. We spent most of the at-home time in the living room. All appliances and facilities. I reccomend this apartment to everyone, families or couples. We were 6 and had plenty of space. Location, location, location! Marblehead is a storybook place to visit. Thanks Brett & Tim for your hospitality. We can't wait to go back! We give it a FIVE star!

Coachman' Quarters

Guest: Phil & Jackie (Oxford, CT)
Date of Stay: 05/04/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

Coachman's Quarters truly is a fairy tale castle in which to experience an enchanting stay. The owners, Brett and Tim, were so helpful and accommodating. The apartment is warm, tastefully furnished, and functional. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. The apartment also is well equipped and fully stocked with everything you can possibly need. The side porch is an inviting area to relax, read, or to have an evening cocktail. Coachman's Quarters has an excellent location with an easy walk to the beach or a short ride to old town Marblehead. We have rented at several locations in Marblehead as we have family there, but Coachman's Quarters alone is given our 5 star recommendation and is definitely our fairy tale ending to a perfect vacation.
