Our stay at the cabin was wonderful. The view from the cabin is fantastic and the cabin was clean and contained everything we needed, including kitchen and bathroom items. David and Susan were great to deal with and answered all our questions about the area. Fishing in the local pond was fun. Use worms to fish, they really bit well on those. We went to opening day fishing at Crooked Creek, which was a huge mistake. There were tons of fisherman there and very difficult to fish without someone right next to you or wading in the creek. Suggest skip opening day and fish after that. FYI, Mabry Mill restaurant was closed until May 1st. Went to Mayberry (Mount Airy) and had a wonderful time - most of the shops were open and was a great shopping experience. I would recommend this cabin to everyone.

We wanted a place to spend thanksgiving with family and quality time before a military deployment. I have severe allergies and asked several times regarding the pet policy. I was assured no pets. When we arrived there was a pet bowl by the door and opened bags of dog food in the pantry. The back porch chair cushions were laying by the back door and had holes chewed into them. There were hairs all over the upstairs broken futon. The rocking chair was broken, dvd's were left out. The cuckoo clock was broken. The water was not hot, the downstairs bathroom tub drain was clogged and filled with water while showering. The towel rack was not secured to the wall and fell on a guests foot. The place was in need of a really good cleaning. The cabinets and closets were a mess. Also, the refrig moves away from the wall each time it is opened. I was very disappointed and we actually thought about leaving and going somewhere else. But, I promised my family dinner. The place was big enough for that and I did pretty much find everything I needed, although doing dishes was quite a chore, due to the water issues and water pressure, I had to do them in increments. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal. I did express my concerns to the owner and he just said "thanks for your concerns". That was kind of a surprise because it was like a different person than when I was inquiring about the place. I offered him pictures that I had taken, and he didn't even ask to see them. The place could be so amazing with just a few basic things and cleaning. The view was to die for! I would love to go back again, but with the cleanliness issues and other things and lack of caring, I guess we will have to look elsewhere, which is a shame. Also, the upstairs bath shower is dinky, dinky. I am 96lbs, 5'1 and I could hardly raise my arms to rinse my hair. One other strange thing, in the downstairs bedroom there is a bowl and pitcher on the dresser. The pitcher was stuffed with long sticky cellephane wrappers of some sort, like someone just shoved them in there. Also, want to mention the pictures are not up to date on this site. There are dark curtains hanging on rods that fall when you move the curtains and they are all stained across the bottom, this is in the main area. None of the cushions were on the back porch furniture as pictured. They cushions were all on the floor of the porch, along with a curled up wet mat. We had no greeting or welcome at all inside upon our arrival.

This cabin was a great choice for our family of four adults and a 2 year old. The views of Pilot Mountain and Mt. Airy are spectacular. The kitchen has everything needed to cook your meals in and there are many extras - games for the kids, movies, grill, and plenty of seating both inside and out. Note - this property is in a community so if you're looking for total privacy "in the woods", this is not for you. There is another cabin very close by but that was not a problem for us. More importantly, you get the views and it's easily accessible..no heart in throat, 4 wheel drive climb to the property. Loved it!

As described in most other reviews, the house was wonderful and the view spectacular. The house is located at the end of a narrow, twisty road on a ridge with a long view over what we determined to be Mount Airy, VA. We were looking for pretty countryside and back roads on which to ride motorcycles and were not disappointed. Again, as described in other reviews, the water smells like sulfa.

Our stay started out kind of bumpy but Susan and Davis were great. We lost power the first night (bad storms) and it didn't come back on until 2pm the next day. Susan and David had made arrangements for us in Mt Airy if the power did not come back on. Luck was on our side and rest of the week was wonderful. Watched the 4th of July fireworks from the back porch. We could see Winston Salem, Mt Airy and various other towns fireworks. We and another couple towed our motorcycles and had no problems getting them up there, parking the trailers and trucks. All in we all had a great week. Thanks Susan and David!

This cabin was absolutely wonderful and provided a great respite for my family and friends! The view was amazing and we loved fishing in the pond where our kids caught tons of fish. We saw a lot of wildlife including deer and wild turkeys. We cooked most of our meals at the cabin and found it was well stocked with everything we needed and more! David, we could not have asked for more hospitality than what you have shown us and we are so thankful to you for sharing your beautiful home. We leave tomorrow and we all hate to leave this small piece of paradise! God bless to you and your family!

What more can you ask for...beautiful views, comfortably appointed, CLEAN and ample linens, and quite spacious. The only negative I can think of is the sulphur spell in the shower water, but that is not the owner's fault; it is just the nature of a well. Moreover, they have a Brita for the kitchen sink which works well. If we go back to Fancy Gap, I would be sure to stay here again. It was great!

We were very comfortable during our stay at the cabin, the view is amazing and there was adequate seating on the deck for 6 adults. The cabin was clean, and the owner was easy to work with. We cooked every night, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. My only concerns were the porch railing near the BBQ which is a bit loose, and the front steps which were very slick and might be a safety concern if you have children or elderly people staying there. The rate was very reasonable, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend! Great bird watching place~!

We had a fantastic time. The view was amazing. The house was clean and David was very easy to deal with. My kids are already asking to go back. We went down to Carolina Ziplines for the day and to Meadows of Dan the next time. Plenty to do and keep everyone happy. The only suggestion I would have is to have some sort of information book for your renters ie how to get to the pond to fish, other activites in the are along with instructions for when your stay is over. Other than that we loved it and will be back!

My husband and I loved this cabin and everything about it. It had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. It rained and hailed the whole time we were there but it did not damper our trip. We came for comfort and relaxation and that is exactly what we got. Not only is this home well stocked with everything you need, but it was gorgeous! This trip was a getaway from the kids, but we definitely want to bring them the next time. Thanks David and Susan for sharing your beautiful home with us!
