We were very comfortable during our stay at the cabin, the view is amazing and there was adequate seating on the deck for 6 adults. The cabin was clean, and the owner was easy to work with. We cooked every night, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. My only concerns were the porch railing near the BBQ which is a bit loose, and the front steps which were very slick and might be a safety concern if you have children or elderly people staying there. The rate was very reasonable, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend! Great bird watching place~!

We had a fantastic time. The view was amazing. The house was clean and David was very easy to deal with. My kids are already asking to go back. We went down to Carolina Ziplines for the day and to Meadows of Dan the next time. Plenty to do and keep everyone happy. The only suggestion I would have is to have some sort of information book for your renters ie how to get to the pond to fish, other activites in the are along with instructions for when your stay is over. Other than that we loved it and will be back!

My husband and I loved this cabin and everything about it. It had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. It rained and hailed the whole time we were there but it did not damper our trip. We came for comfort and relaxation and that is exactly what we got. Not only is this home well stocked with everything you need, but it was gorgeous! This trip was a getaway from the kids, but we definitely want to bring them the next time. Thanks David and Susan for sharing your beautiful home with us!

This was my first time staying in a cabin in the mountains and I must say it was a very different and pleasant experience. The view from the cabin's deck and beautiful oversized windows was breath-taking! The cabin was spacious, comfortable, clean, nicely decorated, and very accommodating. Everything needed, such as cleaning supplies, paper products, fresh linen, home entertainment, etc., was provided and this made our stay even more enjoyable. This was a home away from home to say the least! I look forward to our next cabin getaway!

I had no idea that this little getaway would be so nice and relaxing.....spacious, comfy, did I say relaxing :)...... We have one been here for one night thus far and we are already, ready to come back again. The view is beautiful, the cabin is so homely and relaxing, especially without our kids here, we can really kick back and relax. The cabin is equipped with everything we needed. We went shopping prior to visiting the cabin, because we thought we would need pans and things, but we were so wrong, the cabin had it all.... This is a must to do getaway at least once a year if I can't make it three times out of the year... Thumbs up, actually two thumbs up!
Owner response:We hope to see you again. We are so happy you had a great stay. Come back again! David Susan and Maliyah

This cabin has a wonderful view and is in a beautiful town. We went in January so it was a little chilly outside, but the cabin was toasty warm. This is a great location for anyone out there who just wants to relax and leave the world behind. The area around us was magnificant and the towns people were swell. Two thumbs up and smiles all around.
Owner response:Brandon thank you so much. It was nice to help you and your family have a great stay. Take Care God Bless David and Susan Atkins

This is a beautiful home with a breathtaking view. Here are a few comments that might help you decide if this is the right rental for you. Pros: The sunrise is awe-inspiring. It changes daily. You have to stick your head outside at night to view the stars above and the city lights beyond. The home is nicely decorated with comfortable furniture. The upstairs bed in particular was great. Several games and movies are provided for your family's use. Things to think about: We had a larger group of 8 extended family members that planned to cook every meal during our stay. The ad says the kitchen has "all the modern amenities," but there is no dishwasher or even a sink disposal. The pots, dishes, utensils, etc. are geared toward a smaller group that plans to eat out more than cook. If you do book this home, bring items from your own kitchen to supplement what is provided. The water is supplied by a well shared by the entire community. The water pressure was sporadic and the water itself has a distinct odor and taste that is not eradicated by the sink's filter. Even the ice tainted our drinks. Bring bottled water if you're not used to well water or have a sensitive nose. The wi-fi and DirecTV were both sporadic as well. We couldn't get a signal on the upstairs TV even thought the living room had it. This is probably normal for a mountain getaway, but with the way the ad stressed the wi-fi capability, I didn't expect it. The ad should be more upfront about the intermittent connectivity. But this is a place to relax and get disconnected from that work laptop, anyway! The minor annoyances we experienced could have been avoided by cleaning help that stays on top of missing/broken dishes, working batteries and lightbulbs, miswired electronics, etc. Keep in mind these are out-of-town owners; any issues you have will not be able to get fixed during your stay. I have to say I was deeply saddened by David's response to my concerns, and his phone call to me on our last night there put a big damper on our total weekend experience. I have rented other homes before and so chalk these items up to a newer rental owner that is still trying to get a handle on being a landlord. Just be sure to ask any questions about the property and have detailed communication prior to booking so you're not confused or disappointed upon your arrival. I don't regret visiting idyllic Fancy Gap, though. It's a beautiful place you should definitely visit!

We had a great time at this cozy (yet very spacious) cabin up on a mountain. The views were beautiful and the whole cabin stayed very warm with the large windows facing the sun. The owners were kind and easy to work with, which made for an easy transaction. The listing was also very accurate. The place felt like home right away! We were here for Christmas, so we didn't get out in the area much. Mt. Airy, the home of the Andy Griffin Show, was an easy drive away and there is a restaurant very close to the cabin off the main road that we had breakfast at. The foggy weather made it hard to see on the roads, but we were careful especially coming off of the Blueridge Parkway and onto the side streets on the way to the cabin. I would suggest the trip insurance, as it could be hard to get to the cabin with very heavy snow. We were lucky that the weather was very nice! We would recommend this property and are very happy with our Christmas stay!
Owner response:We are so happy that your family felt at home!!! Susan and I are pleased that your family had a great Christmas stay. Your suggestion of purchasing trip insurance is a GOOD idea. We hope you will allow us to host your family again.

My wife and I just returned from a great 4 days at this property in Fancy Gap, VA. The house is as described with an absolutely gorgeous view both day and night. The home is very cozy (meaning comfortable but not small). The owner was extremely accommodating to us which we greatly appreciate. It was nice to get away from the city life and just relax. Stone Mountain Parks was terrific as was Mount Airy. You will not be disappointed with this property.
Owner response:We are happy that ya'll enjoyed your stay. We always try to accommodate our quests because we love for quests to return for another visit.

We made every attempt to try to please this party. We have been renting for three years and never had such a unique group. They rewired our TV's,put dirty dishes in cabinet complained about only having one wooden spoon etc....,I could go on and on about the endless phone conversations and were in general very sarcastic and ugly on the phone when we tried to help them. We gave them a great discount. Please read our other reviews they speak for themselves.

The description and pictures of the cabin were wonderful, but what couldn't be captured until you are there were the spectacular views and the comfortable beds and the spotlessly clean accomodations. We drove in from Ohio and our long-time friend drove in from Tennessee for a few days to visit and relax - and we were in the right place! From the initial contact, the owners were most hospitable and there were no amentities that were overlooked! We had a great time during our stay. We drove into the nearby towns (Mt Airy, Pilot Mountain, Elkin, Dobson) and the Shelton winery. We so enjoyed coming back to the cabin each evening - it was the best! We highly recommend it. Thank you so much for everything!
Owner response:Thank you so much. We are so glad you had a great time. We hope you come back

The cabin was very nice and the views were spectacular! The cabin had everything we (a family of four with two small children) could need. We have stayed at a lot of cabins, but never one with a Piedmont view- it was incredible! The community was very nice and had lots of neat areas to explore. David and his wife were very friendly and easy to work with- couldn't ask for nicer people. Thanks for everything- we hope to be back soon. (Matthew still talks about the lizards!!)

This was one of the most relaxing vacations our Family has spent together in a long time. I would say the home and atomsphere around it, had all to do with it! We will try to make it a yearly event. M.B.

We had a great stay. Cool Breeze blowing every afternoon,no need to run the air conditioner. Very relaxing lots of early morning wildlife, deer, wild turkey, and rabbits abound. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get away from all the hustleand bustle of city life.
