I love to travel and found this gem a couple of years ago. Great way to explore Southern Virginia, or just relax on the grounds. I'm a resident of Greensboro, NC, but grew up in Michigan. I'm the guy on the left, with the picture being taken on a recent church mission trip.
Why the Owner Chose Meadows of Dan
This area is a blast from the past, with old fashioned grist mill and pizza parlor on premises. Also, old time ice cream shop and chapel on the grounds as well. Near wineries, Mabry Mill, golf, water sports, 2 Virginia State Parks, shops, restaurants, Nancy's Candy Factory, and Floydfest.

We drove south, our son & girlfriend drove north, and we met at Mike's Meadows of Dan cabin. It was a most enjoyable week - the cabin had everything we needed (appreciated the Internet and TA) and there was plenty to do with the Blue Ridge Parkway and various attractions when we weren't just relaxing and unwinding.

We had a great time at the cabin. It's clean, spacious, cozy around the fire, and an incredibly good location. There was great music at the pizza place at the bottom of the hill on Saturday night. And the Floyd Country Store is not a long drive for music and dance on Friday night. I left a small box of my favorite earrings at the cabin and Mike's returning them to me. We'd definitely go back. Don't miss the restaurant above the health food store in Floyd.

What a wonderful week we had! The cabin was very clean & comfortable with plenty of room (it looked even better in person than in the pics!!) and we had everything we needed to prepare several meals. Parking was practically at the front door and just a few steps up into the cabin (worked great for my mom who has trouble climbing stairs.) We had the best time sitting on the back deck and taking in the scenery. It really felt like going home at the end of a busy day of sightseeing (you never get that feeling from a hotel room.) It was our first trip to the area - the town was charming and the locals were very friendly. It took only minutes to reach the Parkway - we also enjoyed Fairystone Park & locating the area's covered bridges. We brought home plenty of Nancy's candy, as well as apples, jams and other goodies from the Poor Farmer's Market. Mike was a joy to work with and he made the whole process so very easy. I feel like we definitely got our money's worth with this cabin and we had a great trip!!

Our experiences (three times now) have always been great! This is a very comfortable, casual place to escape from the every day busy-ness of our work world. There is a lot to do in the nearby area, including live Bluegrass music on-site. And the weekend it rained on us, we soaked up the relaxation listening to the rain on the tin roof. Was probably our favorite time there.

Thanks so much for such a fabulous place in a beautiful setting! The cabin was lovely and so well-landscaped. We brought so many "supplies" that were left untouched, as it seemed like you thought of anything we might need. The cabin was incredibly clean and tidy, but still allowed for such a warm, comfortable feel. We were interested in cycling on the Blue Ride Parkway, so this location was perfect!!! I would highly recommend this cabin and hope to return to it very soon!

We had a fabulous time over a holiday weekend in this cabin. The cabin has great ammenities, not that we had much time to enjoy because we were so busy playing off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The entire complex is great and the local folks are very friendly. We enjoyed ourselves lounging on the back deck with our morning coffee and great views. I worked for a 4 star resort in a Mtn Area in the Rockies and Mike's cabin, ammenities and service is the only other place where I have enjoyed myself that much. There is so much to do in the area that we could go back and stay several times and never do the same thing twice. There is great hiking right out the front door just right on the property. We can't wait to go back, our only complaint is that we could not stay longer! Mike is very prompt in making reservations and was a pleasure to do business with.
Owner response:Thanks for the kind comments Lori- I look forward to you and your family enjoying the cabin and the area once again over the Christmas season!!

My Husband & I stayed at Mike's cabin this past weekend & had a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful & has all of the modern conveniences that make it a great home away from home experience. The village itself was quiet, safe & beautifully landscaped. We really enjoyed the covered porch which was a great place to enjoy an evening rain shower, cool morning breezes & even a hummingbird enjoying the flowers. We were able to hike (the Blue Ridge Parkway), go antique shopping & try out some of the restaurants in the area. Even saw a couple of baby bunnies as we drove in the complex....nice experience. Mike was great to work with & very helpful.
Owner response:Gosh Susan, we put together this weekend getaway 48 hours prior. I'm so glad you and David enjoyed your Parkway adventure. Please come back and enjoy the colors this Fall....!

This was our first time using VRBO. Mike (the owner) was very pleasant to deal with and the transaction went smoothly. With a family of 6 on a tight budget, this was a great deal! We stayed here in June with our 2 young children. It was exactly what we needed. They loved the loft. The cabin was well maintained and clean, nicely decorated, very inviting. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and they even provided a grill with charcoal. We would definitely stay here again if we travel to VA. Our kids didn't want to leave.
Owner response:Thank you for the very nice comments Karen- I'm glad your family loved the cabin! You called on short notice, I am so pleased you could be accommodated during our busy summer season. Come back and visit soon!!
