The best cabin ever! We love Chateau Morrisette and Black Snake Meadery. We plan on coming back a couple of times a year. The dogs had a great time too! Best place to stay in the area.

The cabin was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed! We all loved the charming, peaceful setting, especially the gentle mooing of the cows in the valleys down below. Our dog loved running around by the creek! We had a great time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

enjoyable Thanksgiving week

We drove south, our son & girlfriend drove north, and we met at Mike's Meadows of Dan cabin. It was a most enjoyable week - the cabin had everything we needed (appreciated the Internet and TA) and there was plenty to do with the Blue Ridge Parkway and various attractions when we weren't just relaxing and unwinding.

Lovely!

We had a great time at the cabin. It's clean, spacious, cozy around the fire, and an incredibly good location. There was great music at the pizza place at the bottom of the hill on Saturday night. And the Floyd Country Store is not a long drive for music and dance on Friday night. I left a small box of my favorite earrings at the cabin and Mike's returning them to me. We'd definitely go back. Don't miss the restaurant above the health food store in Floyd.

We Had So Much Fun!

What a wonderful week we had! The cabin was very clean & comfortable with plenty of room (it looked even better in person than in the pics!!) and we had everything we needed to prepare several meals. Parking was practically at the front door and just a few steps up into the cabin (worked great for my mom who has trouble climbing stairs.) We had the best time sitting on the back deck and taking in the scenery. It really felt like going home at the end of a busy day of sightseeing (you never get that feeling from a hotel room.) It was our first trip to the area - the town was charming and the locals were very friendly. It took only minutes to reach the Parkway - we also enjoyed Fairystone Park & locating the area's covered bridges. We brought home plenty of Nancy's candy, as well as apples, jams and other goodies from the Poor Farmer's Market. Mike was a joy to work with and he made the whole process so very easy. I feel like we definitely got our money's worth with this cabin and we had a great trip!!

Great Place!

Guest: JR (Greensboro NC)

Our experiences (three times now) have always been great! This is a very comfortable, casual place to escape from the every day busy-ness of our work world. There is a lot to do in the nearby area, including live Bluegrass music on-site. And the weekend it rained on us, we soaked up the relaxation listening to the rain on the tin roof. Was probably our favorite time there.

Fabulous place!!

Thanks so much for such a fabulous place in a beautiful setting! The cabin was lovely and so well-landscaped. We brought so many "supplies" that were left untouched, as it seemed like you thought of anything we might need. The cabin was incredibly clean and tidy, but still allowed for such a warm, comfortable feel. We were interested in cycling on the Blue Ride Parkway, so this location was perfect!!! I would highly recommend this cabin and hope to return to it very soon!

Wonderful relaxing experience

Guest: David & Susan (Greensboro, NC)
Date of Stay: 07/08/11 Review Submitted: 07/11/11

My Husband & I stayed at Mike's cabin this past weekend & had a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful & has all of the modern conveniences that make it a great home away from home experience. The village itself was quiet, safe & beautifully landscaped. We really enjoyed the covered porch which was a great place to enjoy an evening rain shower, cool morning breezes & even a hummingbird enjoying the flowers. We were able to hike (the Blue Ridge Parkway), go antique shopping & try out some of the restaurants in the area. Even saw a couple of baby bunnies as we drove in the complex....nice experience. Mike was great to work with & very helpful.

Owner response:Gosh Susan, we put together this weekend getaway 48 hours prior. I'm so glad you and David enjoyed your Parkway adventure. Please come back and enjoy the colors this Fall....!

What an amazing time!

Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/11/11

We had a fabulous time over a holiday weekend in this cabin. The cabin has great ammenities, not that we had much time to enjoy because we were so busy playing off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The entire complex is great and the local folks are very friendly. We enjoyed ourselves lounging on the back deck with our morning coffee and great views. I worked for a 4 star resort in a Mtn Area in the Rockies and Mike's cabin, ammenities and service is the only other place where I have enjoyed myself that much. There is so much to do in the area that we could go back and stay several times and never do the same thing twice. There is great hiking right out the front door just right on the property. We can't wait to go back, our only complaint is that we could not stay longer! Mike is very prompt in making reservations and was a pleasure to do business with.

Owner response:Thanks for the kind comments Lori- I look forward to you and your family enjoying the cabin and the area once again over the Christmas season!!

Wonderful cabin

Guest: Karen (Asheboro, NC)
Date of Stay: 06/22/11 Review Submitted: 06/26/11

This was our first time using VRBO. Mike (the owner) was very pleasant to deal with and the transaction went smoothly. With a family of 6 on a tight budget, this was a great deal! We stayed here in June with our 2 young children. It was exactly what we needed. They loved the loft. The cabin was well maintained and clean, nicely decorated, very inviting. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and they even provided a grill with charcoal. We would definitely stay here again if we travel to VA. Our kids didn't want to leave.

Owner response:Thank you for the very nice comments Karen- I'm glad your family loved the cabin! You called on short notice, I am so pleased you could be accommodated during our busy summer season. Come back and visit soon!!

Wonderful Cabin

Guest: Chris (Greensboro)
Date of Stay: 04/18/11 Review Submitted: 04/27/11

My wife surprised me, our three kids and dog with a trip to this wonderful cabin. After arriving and cooking dinner on the grill, we explored the stream and beautiful chapel on the property. Over the next several days we hiked (Buffalo Mountain Preserve & Rocky Knob Gorge), visited Mabry Mill, the candy factory, and Chateau Morrisette, all within close proximity to the cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin for a quick getaway or an extended vacation.

Owner response:Thanks Chris- I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed the cabin and the area! Hopefully, you'll receive more positive surprises this year. Now that you know about this treasure, you are welcome to come again this season!

The Perfect Spot

Guest: Jen (Greensboro, NC)
Date of Stay: 03/11/11 Review Submitted: 05/03/11

My husband and I stayed at this comfy cabin for a quick weekend getaway. We took our Maltese and the rain began. We took the loft and fell asleep to the beautiful sound of the rain on the metal roof. The bed was most comfy cozy and the cabin was quiet and peaceful with a beautiful view. We woke up rested, cooked breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen, and visited Chateau Morisette for a wine tasting. What a weekend to remember. We will be back!

Owner response:Thanks Jen! I appreciate the kind words and look forward to having you and your husband back soon!!

The cabin met our needs exactly. My wife and I loved the four days there. The cabin was clean, and we both loved the efficient layout. We visited the local stores, and everyone was very friendly. Took a short drive to Mt. Airy to see the old Mayberry sites. Love the fudge we got from the candy store. We cooked every night on the grill, and simply enjoyed the peace and quiet. It was also our first vacation with our dog along, and we enjoyed having him there. Mike was super to work with as we called on very short notice.

Cabin in the Blue Ridge

Guest: Cheryl (Central Virginia)
Date of Stay: 07/13/10 Review Submitted: 07/17/10

Staying in this cabin was like a step back into yearyear but with all the modern conveniences. Our favorite thing was beginning our day drinking coffee in rockers on the porch. The kitchen was well equipped right down to the new bag of ice in the freezer. We loved our visit and look forward to another. A great new restaurant to try is the Woodberry Inn off Willis Road just a few minutes away from the cabin and needless to say the Blue Ridge views are beautiful. Have wine and cheese and the Chateau Morrisette Winery.

What a terrific place to spend the weekend!

Guest: Jim (Four Oaks, NC)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/11/10

We drove up from Raleigh on Friday afternoon - when we turned off US 220 onto US58 it was 92 degrees. After driving through a small shower and arriving at the cabin it was 68 degrees! What a great treat! The cabin is everything Mike and the website says. Perfectly outfitted, beautifully arranged, spotlessly clean - really great. I carried some things I thought we would need (soap, paper towels, that sort of thing) only to find they were already there! Enjoyed Meadows of Dan and the surrounding area so much. Breafast at Mabrey Mill and then a tour. Drove to Fancy Gap and just off the Parkway found the greatest shop for yard things like wind chimes, etc. Stopped in Poor Farmers Market on Friday to pick up a couple things and noticed their deli in the back. Today, for lunch we drove back there and the two of us had a great 6" sub, a cold plate with three salads (cole slaw, tuna and potato) + a bowl of home made pinto beans and cornbread (I love those!) with two soft drinks for less that $11.00! The food was terrific! We found the cost around Meadows of Dan to be very reasonable. The best, though, was the cabin. Sitting and rocking on the back porch (Mike, you need a picture of that porch!) looking out over the mountains was wonderful. By the way, the linens and bedding was all top quality and very comfortable. Anything we wanted to cook or fix, we found the apporpraite utensil was there.Mike was very easy to make reservations with and pleasant to talk to. All-in-all, it was a wonderful weekend in a beautiful place staying in a terrific cabin! Who could ask for more? We will for sure keep this cabin in mind for future mountain weekends. It was just ideal.

Clean, Cool and Modern Cabin

Guest: Don (Greensboro)
Date of Stay: 06/04/10 Review Submitted: 06/28/10

All the comforts of home- great location for our Blue Ridge Parkway adventure. Hiked Buffalo Mtn, swam at Fairystone State Park, checked out Mabry Mill and Nancy's Candy factory (must see for the chocaholic). Very nice setting as we enjoyed a bottle of Chateau Morrisette wine in the rocking chairs on the deck at sunset. Charcoal grill, big bar of soap, full shampoo, and microwave popcorn were all nice touches. Cabin was beautiful and well appointed- very efficient layout. My wife and I loved the privacy of our own room- kids loved being up in the loft area. Great place for a long weekend....

Had a Great Stay!

Guest: The Sarah (Charlotte, NC)
Date of Stay: 04/01/10 Review Submitted: 04/18/10

Recently rented this cabin, and enjoyed the early blooms along the Parkway, as well as the wineries nearby. I really like this cabin- lots of room inside and neat as a pin. Went with another couple who slept very comfortably in the upstairs loft, while my husband and I stayed in the main bedroom with the log designed king bed. Central heat, gas fireplace, and cable helped when things got rainy. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook a couple of dinners- bring your own coffee (but there is a coffeemaker there). Peaceful area, and we enjoyed the live bluegrass music and pizza at Christopher's. My only complaint is that I wish the weather had cooperated a little more, but what do you expect in early April!

My husband and I, my sister and her grandson stayed in the cabin in August. We enjoyed it so much that we spent an extra night. The cabin is in a great location. Maybry Mills, Meadows of Dan, the Blue Ridge Parkway are just minutes away. The cabin is well appointed. We enjoyed it very much and are considering it for our next visit to the area. Linda Palmer
