On a large, peaceful tidal bay in Millbridge, with long views to spruce-covered islands, our cottage is a cozy getaway. With lots of windows facing the water, this is a bright and cheerful little house. Deck overlooking the water. Cottage is just a few yards from the shore, and open to the ocean breezes. There are stairs to the shore, but the steep slope makes this spot unsuitable for children under 10.
This cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood of other cottages and farms on Ray's Point, a finger of land extending into Harrington Bay... a beautiful part of Downeast Maine, with many points and islands to explore. See eagles and shore birds from the cottage and the deck, kayak in the bay and beyond (this is a tidal bay, so launching from the cottage is limited to hours around high tide; there is a deep water launch site in Milbridge). Nice area for biking and walking.
The village of Milbridge (shopping, post office, restaurants, movie theatre, etc.) is less than five miles away. For day trips, Acadia National Park (Schoodic Peninsula area) is a half hour away, Bar Harbor and Ellsworth are 45-60 minutes drive. Petit Manaan National Wildlife Sanctuary (great birding and hiking) is less than a half hour drive.
Campobello Island, New Brunswick (FDR's summer home) is within an hour and a half, as is Quoddy Head, easternmost lighthouse in the US. Lobsters and clams available in Milbridge (lobster and clam pots provided with cottage). This is one of the largest wild blueberry producing areas in the world, so there are plenty of berries available nearby during the season (late July through August) ... berry picking is permitted at Petit Manaan National Wildlife Refuge, in season.
In order to make this a pleasant rental for all, we do not allow pets on the property, nor is smoking allowed inside the cottage.

$25 off per week for 2 week or longer rentals.
Rentals run Saturday 3 PM through noon the following Sat. (minimum 1 week rental).
Maine state rental tax of 7 percent is added to the rates quoted above

Fabulous cabin in downeast Maine

This was my first experience with a vacation rental and it was probably the best vacation I have had in years. The cabin is in a lovely peaceful spot right by a tidal bay. Very scenic, quiet and secluded but still only 3 miles from town. The accomadations were very comfortable and the cabin was spotlessly clean. The owners provided a lot of little touches that were very helpful such as mountain bikes to use, lots of information about area attractions and maps. The Milbridge area is a great location for day trips for nature lovers. It is an easy drive to Acadia and Campobello. The largest nearby town is Ellsworth which has some great shopping areas including an L.L.Bean outlet. There isn't a lot of nightlife here or upscale dining etc. If you are looking for that then stay south of Acadia. But if you are searching for a quiet, peaceful , relaxing stay then I would definitly recommend this cottage. I had a fantastic time.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

Dear Bruce & Sally ... What a great spot! The moment we drove in we ooh'd and aah'd ... have yet to stop. Your accomodations are great ... you have thought of everything. We kayaked (brought our own) from here ... we also did Tunk Lake (what a beautiful spot that is!), and kayaked from the Machias River to Buck Point to visit friends. ... Today is an absolutely beautiful morning - the water like glass - it makes leaving very difficult. We would like to come back next year ...

Hello... and welcome to the guestbook for our cottage in Milbridge. We do hope you'll decide to rent our cottage... it's a pretty little place in a nice quiet area. Great views over the tidal bay, lots of sunshine, and cool breezes from the water. When you pull into the driveway and see the expanse of the bay and islands in front of you, you'll be glad you rented this place!
