Disappointed

Guest: Disappointed! (Texas)
Date of Stay: 08/19/11 Review Submitted: 10/16/11

Deposit was not returned in two weeks as stated on the contract. It took 7 weeks. Was not advised of broken sofa bed in den which we needed for sleeping until the week of the trip. We only had a mattress on the floor for that individual. We were also advised of broken chairs at the poker table the week we were going up. Garage door opener was not provided as we were informed. The kitchen was very nice but the overall cooking supplies are very limited and not very good.

Great Place to stay

Guest: Janice G.
Date of Stay: 07/26/11 Review Submitted: 09/12/11

This was our first time for staying at a vacation home and we will do it again. My husband and I took our mothers, grandchildren(7,9,12,15) and a friend the last week of June 2011. There were 9 of us and there was plenty of room and privacy for everyone. This home has all the things you would need (just like you were at home) and the AC keep us cool. The two living areas with TVs and game room made it great for the adults and kids to have different activities at the same time.. There were towels galore, the kitchen was well stocked with dishes & cooking utensils. The kitchen cabinets and refrigerator had all kinds of condiments (so check before you buy). Having a washer and dryer was fantastic. We all loved the pool, there were all kinds of pool toys for the kids. We even had a cook out on the grill the one evening we were in early. The location is great for all the places we went--SA Zoo, Sea World, Schlitterbahn, Tower of Americas, and SA Missions game. When we go back to San Antonio this will be the first place we check to see if is available.

April 2011 - 2 night stay

Guest: Gwynne (Colorado)
Date of Stay: 04/28/11 Review Submitted: 06/01/11

Our family (8 adults) gathered the end of April in San Antonio for a funeral. This home was really convenient to both the airport and to Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. We arrived after midnight and the owner left the keys in a lockbox for us. The home was clean and laid out nicely, mostly on one level. (The steps up from the den and step down into the game room could be tricky for persons with mobility issues.) Although the descriptions say four bedrooms and two living areas (or four bedrooms plus den), the fourth bedroom IS the den - two hide-a-bed sofas in the den for sleeping. (This was not a good discovery for us, since we had worked all day, traveled all night and were all looking forward to comfortable beds and a good night's sleep.) Those traveling with teenagers or children may find this a plus, since the den is separate from the other three bedrooms. Also the bathroom attached to the den is quite small: a small shower stall, sink, toilet - no tub in this bathroom. We did find time to enjoy the outdoor living spaces - lanai, pool/pool deck, picnic table/grill area (brought our own charcoal) - since the weather was quite pleasant the end of April. The garage gave us a great place to keep our cars off the street. One thing we discovered arriving after midnight - the HEBs (grocery stores) all close at midnight, so your best bet for groceries during early morning hours is the Super WalMart, which is not too far away.

Good for a group

Guest: Traveler (Alexandria, VA)
Date of Stay: 04/20/11 Review Submitted: 05/23/11

We recently had a "family reunion" of three adult brothers and sisters and our kids, and the house was a good and reasonably priced way for us to spend some time together. The owner is very conscientious and does a good job of keeping things neat and clean, particularly the swimming pool. The house is on a quiet street in Alamo Heights, convenient to the airport and anything on the north side of town. The kitchen is modern, though not as well equipped as other rental houses I've used. I suspect that over time the owner will equip it with a better supply of utensils, pots and pans, etc. The rest of the house is similar---clean but a bit spartan. When we stayed there, none of the bathrooms had toilet paper holders, for example. Also, note that there are three "regular" bedrooms one with a private bath and two with a shared bath, plus a fourth large den on the other side of the house with its own bathroom and a fold-out sofa that counts as the fourth bedroom. Depending on your group/family, that may or may not be a factor for you. If you have a teenager who wants to be on their own with a huge TV, they may love it! In short, pros: Convenient to the airport, shopping, and highways Good shared living space---kitchen, dining room, game room, den with large TV Well-maintained pool Laundry facilities Covered parking Cons: A bit spartan overall; hopefully the owner will upgrade that over time Proximity to the airport: the flight path goes right over the house at times, and if you're a light sleeper, you know exactly when flights start up each morning

Super comfy!

Guest: Greg (Austin,TX)
Date of Stay: 04/08/11 Review Submitted: 05/16/11

We stayed during Fiesta this year. Super clean, lots of room, and a nicely appointed kitchen. It was unseasonably hot this year but the pool came in very handy. The owner was actually on hand when we checked in so there was no confusion about where things were located. Washer, Dryer, charcoal grill and all three come with supplies. Right around the corner from a neighborhood grocery store, with lots of stores within an easy 1 mile radius. Easy parking for multiple vehicles, garage parking available as well. The owner has multiple properties so this is not a rental done on the side. You get his full attention to detail and it shows!!

Great place to Stay!!

Guest: Air Force Mom (Wisconsin, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/25/10

We were in town for our son's graduation from Basic Training. Lackland AFB is only 20 min away; easy access to highways that took us right there! Our son did not want to spend any time where he could be seen; he wanted to get away from it all! And this place was PERFECT for that reason!! The entire back yard, including the pool, had privacy fence around it. There was a nice lanai-like area between the house & the 2-car garage that had a nice patio table & chairs. There was a lot of chairs, tables, lounges by the pool. LOTS of pool toys to use, too. Inside the house ~ it was GREAT!! We had SO much room to spread out!! My son & his buddies hung out in the "man cave" which had a HUGE flat screen tv & two large couches. It also had its own private bathroom. There were 3 bedrooms on the other end of the house; all with huge closets & built-ins. Plenty of room to walk around the beds, etc. The Master Bedroom had a very nice bathroom w/ a large tub/shower. There was another bathroom in the hallway for the other 2 bedrooms to use & that one was nice as well. We had 7-8 people there on & off & we NEVER ran out of towels!! So many & in such GREAT shape!! I felt guilty that the maid service would have so many to wash, so I washed almost all of them before we left, using the onsite washer & dryer. We were able to wash our clothes & pack our suitcases w/ clean, dry clothes & not have to do laundry as soon as we got home. How cool is that!! The kitchen was wonderful!! It was stocked very nicely; plenty of dishes, utensils, cookware, etc. There was a cabinet full of a variety of spices. The fridge had some of your basic items like ketchup, mustard, etc. Very nice! Great dishwasher & double sinks! LOVED the countertops! Overall, we'd give this renetal a "10"!!!

3 night stay in June, 2010

Guest: Paula (Houston)
Date of Stay: 06/13/10 Review Submitted: 09/10/10

We had a wonderful time. The house was very clean, spacious and well laid out. The kitchen and bathrooms are very nice and modern. The owners have done a wonderful job with all sorts of special touches, from 50 clean white towels in the hall closet to postcards, puzzles and guidebooks in the game area. There was two living areas so the kids could relax in one room with a big screen TV while the grown-ups talked or watched a different program in the other spot. Neighborhood is upscale and very quiet. Location is very convenient to wherever you want to go in San Antonio. Pool and patio were a highlight with the grandkids....and there were beach toys stored in the storage area in case you forgot to bring your own. We did meet the owner and he was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We definitely plan to stay in this house again. Our grandkids call it our "vacation house" and still talk about it all the time and ask when we are going back. A great time and great memories.

Great Place to relax and get away! Very Quite!

The owners were very pleasant. We stayed to attend a graduation at Lackland AFB. It is about a 25 min ride to Lackland but it is the perfect location to go back too and just relax. The airport was only 10 to 15 mins away. The pool was wonderful. The house was very clean and spacous. We had 7 people with plenty of room. If you stay make sure you go to Freddy's Steakburger and have the frozen custard...amazing! Thank you for letting us stay at your property.
